I know a lot of questions of surrounded the Dual Wielding Build, for warriors and rogues.

I've googled, and read through much like half of this forum studying the build, and I found a topic talking about it but as I read it raises questions for me. Please understand I can be indecisive, and really horrible at making decisions. So please bare with me, thank you.

From what I understand, the DPs with a rogue DW, is better if you use Momentum I believe it was and get behind them to do backstab from what I understand it makes it a critical hit everytime it connects as long as I'm behind them.
Also from what I hear, is it true that Duelist and Assassin compliment this build and makes it much stronger than normal?
Also, I have a thing for warden commander set you get from the DLC, but I should avoid wearing that if I don't want my character to tank, correct or could I still wear it and have my tank hold aggro well and survive. I have a play through just to get achievements and whatnot and to see what the games about but I want to kind of go through it as a role-playing experience to just have fun, but I have Alistair as my tank for now, I have shale but  I thought having Alistair was better. But he wears the Juggernaut armor set, and I wear the grey warden commander set but for some reason I still am being targetted the most.

Is there something I'm doing wrong or is it true that for some reason Alistair cannot hold aggro at all is it true Shale can hold it better? Should I actually wear something lower than massive armor?
Would a rogue do okay in it or should I really just decide to go to Light or Medium instead of Heavy and Massive?

Also from your experience which is better to have an origin under? Dalish or City elf, possibly even Noble human (I hear that the noble human can give better stats, and possibly even making a better rogue than Dalish/City Elfs) also I wanted to get to an end where the character who comes from a tragic origin uses that to bring the lands of Fereldan together with Alistair (Who I plan on making hardened) though just as a friend.
Is it possible a human can bring the humans to care about elves more, and see them as equals or can a Dalish/City elf do this?

Also this just came to mind, whats better for DPs Longsword/Dagger, Dagger/Dagger, or Longsword/Longsword(Possible Axe thrown in). I've think I seen a chart in an old thread but heard it could've changed due to it being figured out in an older patch that was recently upgraded so I'm not quite sure.

Sorry for so many questions and for this being so long too.

First we need to get one thing absolutely clear, “BETTER” is a relative term. Does a two dagger combo do more damage than say a sword and shield... YES but there is ALWAYS a price to pay. Some builds are able to take more damage or generate high threat (insert open locks, maintain party buffs or persuade people).

Is it possible a human can bring the humans to care about elves more, and see them as equals or can a Dalish/City elf do this?

NO!
A human has the option to rule (you can possibly do this in DA:2… only rumours) but in this game the best you can do is temporarily improve relations between the elves and their human oppressors by playing an city-elf, so play whatever one you enjoy (they are both dark). IMO Dalish elf is the true neutral origin but I won’t spoil it for you.

Who has been telling you all these lies?

Momentum boosts your attack speed so you attack faster by 30%, This is great for Warrior or Rogue.
Backstabs = Critical Hit from behind yes, draws alot of threat from the target yes.
Duelest/Assassin used to the be the flavour of month until people realised you can make stuff much better. Basicaly you can either focus on never worrying about backstabs, trying to backstab as much as possible, or something in between. Assassin/Duelest lets you do both but not as good as one focus or another. Duelest abilities are actualy pretty poor except the last one which lets you crit on all attacks from any angle for 15seconds. But when you auto crit from behind and the side, and whenever the enemy is stunned or knocked down I fail to see this as useful unless its for thematic or build reasons. The prefered build on the forums is a Assassin/Bard combo since Song of Courage is a much better ability and really squeezes maximum damage out of you and your party. Im fond of Ranger/Assassin myself but thats a pretty rare build.
You can wear whatever you want though if you have the Str to wear that I assume your not a Dex or Cun build rogue so in retrospect your probably better off using Duelest class since the armor makes you more of a target and of course your damage pulls threat. Being the fact you probably dont use daggers with str that high then your losing out on the enhanced speed and crit/crit damage bonuses. Just play as a duel wield warrior with rogue talents and a better skill progression. It a very viable build.
The problem I see with alot of "Tanks" is player either dont let them tank or build them ridiculously patheticly. Your going to wnat your tank be Champion/Reaver adn either be all str if two hand, mostly str if weapon and shield, or almost all dex if duel wield  tank. Also theres nothing saying you cant have shale and alistair in your party together.
I prefer a mix of armors myself to maximise benefits. but a lower grade armor would probably make things easier for your tank. i suggest medium though since theres some great medium sets.
Well universaly for rogue and warrior, dwarf is the best race, followed by human and then elf. Like most fantasy settings elfs are all about magic. But its a small differance in stats (1 levels worth generaly) though only dwarves get a racial ability to have added +10% magic resistance.
City Elf or Dahlish......well a City Elf Warden can become a Arl reprsenting the alienage elves. (Basicaly a Lord) which is something thats never done, there are no elf Lords.  Dahlish only care about the Dahlish and getting some land for them. elves will always be second class citizens but its better for them in the city elf scenario.
Weapon wise.....depends on your party and how you want to build your character. There are DRASTIC differances. Weapon/Dagger breaks even betwene the two focused builds but dosnt excel in one area. Pretty easy to play though you will be annoyed at the fact you switch weapons when backstabing so you damage variance can be skewed.  Duel large weapons arnt so great for auto attacking but are decent enough for backstabing but their real advantage is they are great for spaming skills. Duel daggers is best for backstabing and can actualy deal more damage then any of the othere builds auto attacking with the right setup.

Personaly from what you have said so far I get the impression you would do best as a Duelest, keep your heavy armor and focus more on Str stat and go duel main hand weapons and talent spam. Your other spec is up to you but keep in mind all the assassin and bard abilities are based off your Cun attribute -10. From a pure mechanics wise setup I would say Duelest/Ranger with the Bear Tanking pet would be good for you and you just rush out and brawl. No need for constant backstabs.

Thank you two for the information I greatly appreciate it, and it definitely helps. I think I'll find a dex, and con build and just try to squeeze two tanks in (Alistair & Shale)...I like Shale's comments makes laugh haha. But thank you again. ^^

Never build con, you really dont need it. Especially if you are going dex heavy, as dex increases your defence. If you do go with dex you need to use two daggers, get momentum as soon as you can as it is the best skill (imo) for rogues due to the great increase to attack speed.

The build I created for my rogue is a good one, but the gear is the end game set, and you need The Stone Prisoner (which I know you have). Here it is: http://social.biowar...6/index/5711283

The dagger Fang can only be got by city elves if you take sole responsibility for going into the Arl's house and doing what you do (i wont spoil it if you havent done it yet). Go on the wiki (here: http://dragonage.wik...Dragon_Age_Wiki ) to find out hows to get the rest of the gear. This rogue is survivable and does very good damage. The differences between light/med/heavy/massive and the threat they generate is rather small really (read this: http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Threat for more info) its the way you set up tanks tactics, skills and stat points. Well ofc put them in massive armor as its the best. LastDarkness knows a lot about the game so his advice is sound, and I like to think my build is a powerful one, but just have fun with the game!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Matt, I rather think I just spend a unhealthy amount of time here on the forums arguing. Its all good though I respect most the people I have disagreements with. I hope its mutual.

Sorry OP for the Brick of text, I thought my spacing was better.

But as said, never EVER go Con except in two cases. Shale needs min 38 Con to equip her best gear and blood mages benefit from Con instead of Willpower. The Hp gains in the game do not scale well since its only like 5 measly points of HP per point. Thats 15 HP as level if invested fully. A fat bartender can slap you for more damage then that.

its why Defense Score, Armor and Resistances are more important.  They are all ifferant as well BTW, its important to know that Armor just reduces normal damage. It dont make you harder to hit.

Its not too difficult to even get 100% dodge rate unhitable warriors and rogues. (Working on a proof of concept with a friend now on how to make a 100% Dodge 100 Spell Immune Warrior, fun stuff)

Just play the game and have fun, if you run into any problems come back here and ask for help anytime.
