I'm not sure if they changed it for the collector's edition, but i knoe for the regular edition there is a "release-day" shipping option with amazon. Which means you'll get the game Nov. 3rd

Hmm, Release day shipping, that sounds new...  I know in the past I preordered the Collector's Edition of the last 2 Harry Potter books using their free shipping option (which is supposed to be slower), and they delivered them on release day to me anyway.

Ordered the CE Dragon Age with the free shipping, so I won't be disappointed if I don't get it on the 3rd, but here's hoping that maybe they have a policy of treating people who order CE editions of products a little better... :innocent:

Well for me i can stand the wait either way I mean i want to play the game but I have enough stuff to do even if I didn't have like 5 games to play and start XD I still have anime, Im on EP 12 out of 50! So there is that, than I also have Blue Seed to finish (tho on last disc) and Final Fantasy Unlimited to finish and just got my Ergo Proxy box set in the mail today so have that to start, so sever hunderd minutes of anime to watch that should tie me over and i can just all about forget about the 2nd dragon age book to finish that O.O

Gamestop says mine will be at the house on Nov 3rd. If it shows up on the 4th, they pay the shipping.

From online places like EA or amazon or gamestop?
I heared ppl talken about their orders gonna get shipped tomarrow?O.O is that right? Is it supposed to ship on the 3rd or what?

Amazon has a new "release day delivery" option that you can select, that might be valid depending on your location.  It's not worth $6 to me to give up the free shipping though.

You can modify your current pre-order to change the shipping method.

Well if you're downloading any place other than EA's site have fun waiting as the servers get hammered with tons of people trying to download it at once since there's no preloading for DA on any service except for EA's I believe. Just a heads up.

No, but I can preload it so that the very morning of November 3rd it's all ready to play on my computer. No driving down to the store, no waiting for packages to arrive. Honestly, the direct download game system, when it works best, beats any of the other delivery methods in my opinion.

Course, I rememeber back when games took weeks to ship.

Personally, I feel a lot better having a physical copy of a game in my hands. There are too many things that can go wrong to my digital copy or the distributor. If I don't have to run the game through Steam I'd rather buy a physical copy and have the discs.

^ Same I like physical copies of things more so than downloading stuff just cuz it scares me that something may go wrong

But what could go wrong? If the download corrupts or your internet breaks and you lose the connection, you just start it up again. For disorganized people like me who sometimes end up breaking CD's or losing them, this is an excellent deal. God knows I was pissed about scratching up my Warcraft 3 disk so much that it won't install, at least I shouldn't have to worry about that with DAO.

In my opinion, things are much more likely to go wrong (damaged packages, missing pieces, whatever) in the mail than they are with digital distribution.

What if you go somewhere where you don't have an internet connection? What if D2D goes out of business and doesn't support their downloads anymore? What if you need an expensive mini frisbee?

Heh guess that early report from EvAv was wrong. Not suprising either since that site has gone downhill quite a bit the last couple years imo.

And here they are giving you days to get it before it's even released. Maybe you downloaded from a slow site, or back a while ago when the servers they had were slow, but usually when I'm downloading a game I never go below 250 kb/s, and generally it runs a bit over 320 kb/s. Considering those speeds, even an enormous game like DAO will be finished downloading in a bit over half a day. Just start it up before you go to bed and it'll be done by the time you get back from work / school, or mostly done when you wake up.

But look, I'm not trying to dissuade you. I understand the need to have something, and the inability to download it in internetless locations is a downer. That their website might go out of business is a little bit paranoid, last I checked they were doing pretty well even in a recession.

But you totally got me about the mini-frisbee thing, there's just no way that digital distribution can match that.:pinched:

Yep I always like to have a hard copy in case of a crash did the same with the witcher worked out great. Once the enhanced version came out i gave the hard copy of the original to my Grandson. plan to do the same with DA:O
