I'm playing as sentinel on insanity, and i'm getting the additional power thing that you unlock at the research terminal. But i was wondering, which power is the best for a sentinel? I was thinking in getting the armor ones (fortification / barrier) but i guess those powers don't stack with the tech armor, right?

Armor powers do stack but the effect is almost useless (on Insanity). Go for Assault Armor and you've got all the protection you'll ever need.

Sentinels are already very well equipped, but you can take Energy Drain to strip shields while boosting yours (very handy to keep you Tech Armor up so you can get close enough for enemies to get knocked down or staggered when it blows). Stasis is an extremely powerful bonus power too. Dominate is fun and effective, and Flashbang grenades are also good.

Remember you can respec your bonus power at will (assuming you have enough EZ) - try and experiment.

Warp Ammo is pretty useful too. The choice really depends on whether you want an all-out aggressive CQ-Sentinel with Shotgun in yo face or a classic Caster Sentinel.

I would say Warp Ammo covers up the only real weakness of a Sentinel (too much reliance on powers to do damage). They have defense stripping, crowd control, and survivability already. Bonus points for Warp Ammo being something that fits with the class lore-wise.

Stasis seems to be the typical go-to bonus power for Sentinels.

Stasis....because in gives you a nice cc power. Ammo powers can be obtained from squadmates.

I've been meaning to ask this same question as well. The thing is Sentinel builds doesn't allow for a lot of flexibility. Since you generally want to max out Tech Armor, Passive, Overload and Warp that's already 40 points spent. Add the 3 points you need in Throw to unlock Warp, you're left with 8/51 points left. In other words, you don't have enough to max out bonus at all.

Most have said Stasis, but I haven't unlocked it yet (due to many freeze bugs on LotSB). So is there any other bonus that is good with just 1 point into it? I'm trying to do my first Insanity run (NG+). The last few runs on Hardcore I've picked AP Ammo and honestly it felt like dead weight.

Stasis to save time fighting YMIR Mechs and Scions. It is also one of the best CC powers in the game.

Stasis has very little overlap with existing powers. The only other option to add something "new" to the class is Slam, which gives you the ability to set up warp explosions instead of just triggering them. I personally find ammo powers other than incendiary and cryo pretty, but ultimately useless on weapons not the Widow.

IF you want to play aggressive:

Uhm, why max out Warp and Overload?
If you are playing an aggressive Sentinel, you'll be using those powers only on some occasions, so there is no point in maxing them out. In most cases, it is even counterproductive to use those powers as they pose cooldown which can interfere with bringing Assault Armor up again if needed.

My Current Sentinel build will be this:
Throw - Level 3 (6 Points)
Warp - Level 3 (6 Points)
Tech Armor - Level 4  (Assault Armor / 10 Points)
Overload - Level 3 (6 Points)
Cryo Blast - Level 2 (3 Points)
Passive - Level 4 (Raider / 10 Points)
Warp Ammo - Level 4 (Heavy Warp Ammo / 10 Points)

Level 3 Warp and Overload are more than enough to deal with things if you can't outright run into them blazing with your Shotgun and you still have more than enough versatility to deal with everything you come across, plus the Raider +15% Power Damage does come in handy for both Warp Ammo and doing a little to offset the Damage Potential difference between a Level 3 and a Level 4 Warp/Overload.

Maxing out typical Caster powers on a CQ-Combatant who largely relies on his Armor power is totally out of context. Afterall, you intend to go aggressive, in their faces and not spam powers from afar if you chose the CQC-Sentinel, then people should plan their build accordingly.

Well considering this is going to be my first attempt at Insanity after so many times playing Hardcore, I thought I might go with a more defensive/caster Sentinel since that was my previous build that made Hardcore so easy. I'm planning on importing my previous run (New Game plus in other words) with a level 30 Sentinel with Assault Rifle training. So if I am going to play aggresive, I'm going to need to start a new character completely and pick Shotgun training instead.

Since I don't have Stasis yet (not until they fix LotSB on the PS3), I'm in need of a new bonus power since I've always picked AP Ammo on my previous Sentinel runs and it always felt useless to me.

Yes.

Why not? It is one of the best (if not the best) missions in the game.

Not for PS3 users, as you probably have heard of the infamous save-file corruption bug that has gotten the whole forum in a frenzy for the last few weeks. Since about 80% of the incidents happen while playing Lair of the Shadow Broker, most of us are trying to stay clear of that section until the patch is released.

I've never heard about it before, sucks for PS3 then.

I know, I'v had the game froze twice now (no file corruption though thank god). Any other bonus powers you can recommend besides Stasis?

Energy Drain was probably the best Sentinel bonus power pre-Lair of the Shadow Broker.

Energy drain kicks so much ass. If you know how to use it, you can have your tech armor stay up forever. Also, energy drain is especially devastating against geth, This build was probably my strongest character for ME2. I've never gone through the game with more ease than my Sentinel. Good hunting.

Energy Drain edges out stasis for sniper sentinels, imo. No Fall of Death Life behind cover that way.

I'm afraid of the corrupt save thing for ps3. I will have to do a backup of my save if i want to play it.

Area Reave would then be a nice addition.

That's harsh. In enjoyment stakes, I'd say LotSB was second only to the Suicide Mission itself.

Suggest not doing an ng + as your first insanity run. The first part is way harder. Enemies scale to 30.but you don't have the upgrades yet.
