Given that you have just said "having the exact same problem" without giving any specifics such as error messages, system specs, and the like, theres not much we can do to troubleshoot.
Dont assume that DA:O and ME have the same requirements just because they are made by the same company. I can play DA:O on my old Del D610 laptop, but it wouldnt stand a chance of running ME. Post your details in accordance to the "How to Report Problems" thread and we might be able to see what the cause of the problem is.

As a side note, its normally not a good idea to ask for help in a thread that has been marked "Solved". Better off starting a new one.

Intel core i3 cpu
m330 @ 2.13ghz
Physical memory: 3.79 GBs
vram: 1.67 GBs
OS: Windows 7 home premium Directx 9.0
cpu's 1 cores: 1 clock speed: 2120 mhz
My graphics card is by intel. All I know is that it's nvidia. Don't know specific specs for it and no one has been able to help me find out. Checked my system information and laptop information. Nothing.
And I didn't want to start a new one when he was having the exact same issues at a glance. It use to freeze at the config utility until I downloaded the patch. Now that works but it freezes when it tries to load for play.

Your GPU cannot both by intel and nvidia. They 2 different companies. If it is an intel chipset, then its not supported at all. Nothing by intel is. If its nvidia, the system requirements for the game states that "laptop versions may work, but are not supported."
The thread I pointed you to contains screenshots on how to get the information from the ME configuration utility.

The definition of what a "Graphics Card" amounts to is quite simple, and it most certainly excludes ANYTHING that Intel is currently selling.Alistairschica wrote...

Minimum Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 6 series (6800GT or better: 210, 310, 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7500, 7600 GS, 8200, 8300, 8400 GS, 8500, 9100, 9200, & 9300 are below minimum system requirements)
ATI Radeon X1800 GTO or better (X1300, X1300 Pro, *X1550*, HD 2400, HD 3100, HD 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, HD 4200, HD 4250, HD 4350, HD 4550, and (probably) HD 5450 are below minimum system requirements)
Sorry, but you are SOL.

WEll, that teaches me for assuming that since I can run Dragon Age on the highest settings with little to no lag, that I can't play everything. Figured I could since ME was older. Looks like a friend will get a free ME game. Lol
I'm on an Asus UF50. Intel media accelerator with Nvidia drivers. Asus did something to it since the Intel site doesn't recognize it. Or something like that. I'm not computer savvy so I'll be quiet now. Thanks, everyone. I'll just stick to ME2 on PS3 then.

Actually, it can. They make laptops now that dynamically switch between Intel for apps and Nvidia for actual 3D gaming, video acceleration, and whatnot. Saves power when you don't need the Nvidia chip switched on.
Tried a quick google for Asus UF50 to see if this was the case. (I'd assume it is, if the machine has Nvidia drivers on it.) But all I seem to get is midi stuff, nothing on a laptop model.

My bad. xD I got it backwards. It's U50F. Sorry about that. Didn't help that I was reading it upside down. It's ability to play games was what sold me on it, even though I knew it wasn't an actual gaming computer like a desktop would be. I bought it for DA so I guess I'll just stick with that. I'm more of a PS3 gamer anyway. I've never had any difficulty with games aside from ME.

Ah, okay.
The first few google results for "asus u50f" list only the integrated Intel graphics. Not sure why it has anything Nvidia related on it if that's the case, but according to those, you don't have a an ATI or Nvidia GPU. If that's true, then it's not too surprising Unreal Engine games aren't working on it, I'm afraid.

I'm new to the whole gaming on PC thing. Is there really that much difference between DA and ME? Thanks for looking it up for me though. I should probably take the time to learn what I need but all the computer lingo just boggles my mind.

It certainly would be reasonable to assume two games from Bioware would be using similar software, but actually, they are pretty different. The Mass Effects are built off of the Unreal Engine, an engine (fundamental layer of software) made by another company called Epic Games. The engine used by Dragon Age (don't know the name for it, though I'm sure it has one) was made by Bioware in-house and is a bit more of a "from scratch" creation.

Oh, okay. One of these days maybe I won't be such a dunce with this stuff. Thanks for answering for me. I've been wanting to play ME for ages but I don't have an Xbox. I was thrilled to see them release it for Ps3 and now I'm hooked and sort of lost on the backstory. Guess I'll settle for wiki to catch up. And maybe pray they release ME1 for ps3, too, in the future. Yeah, probably not. But I can hope.
