Thank you everyone, for your input.

Avril Lavigne songs ftw...?

Anyways, on to the point of this topic.

I was wondering if, since my Warden is bound to be mentioned in DA2 (she's the Queen of Ferelden...) it is worth playing through all the DLC, even though the ending of Witch Hunt is ambiguous and the epilogue of Awakenings said that she disappeared a few years after she got back from the Vigil, in order to get a happy ending with her and Alistair.

Yes, this is the stupidest thing I have asked all day. Don't judge me. ;)

NOPE. I'd advise skipping both Awakening and Witch Hunt to save aggravation.

I might as well ask this again:

If I play through DAO with an Ultimate Sacrifice Warden, and then import him into DAA/Witch Hunt, will the fact Origins takes priority overrule the retconned Dark Ritual that allows the Warden to even exist in DAA as far as DA2 is concerned?

Basically, can I have a save that lets me continue to choose what happens in the story of Dragon Age despite the protagonist getting killed in Origins? Will DA2 simply assume that an Orlesian or other Warden did the events of DAA/WH? Or will the Dark Ritual become the "flag" in such a save?

Edit:  Put a third way, I want to be able to have the Warden die, and still choose what happens in DAA/WH without getting rid of the Ultimate Sacrifice.  I am not sure if this is possible.

So an Awakening save file won't? I'm not necessarily worried over king/queenship, but I loath Awakening's ending for the Warden. Until more info about our character (if any) is released in the future, abandoning the Grey Wardens by "disappearing" is completely out of character for my Warden.

More like, the DAO save is enough to be recognized as such. Awakening save created from that DAO savegame can probably add some extra stuff to that (architect decision etc) but doesn't change the DAO decisions.

If I'm thinking of the same scene you are, that scene almost made me cry.

Edit: ...That scene did make me cry. Every. Single. Time.

It was even worse on replays.

Regardless of my Warden ever being mentioned/featured in another game or not, I like to think she/he and Alistair eventually followed the Calling and headed into the Deep Roads and that the surviving friends/companions/LI chose to join in for one last great adventure together. It'd be an honorable and fitting end. :)

To be fair, the Warden may not have had a choice.

Well.. The taint kinda messed you up.

However, if your Warden was only like 18 in Origins than you'll still be alive and well by the time DA II starts since the taint doesn't have a huge effect untill you're in the 30s-40s.

Basically you get to die a BEAUTIFUL death

Yes, it's not like Alistair doesn't know if you're married to him in Awakening.

Just great, now that crappy Avril Lavigne song is stuck in my head until I cleanse it with a healthy dose of vodka.

No offense but, I hate you now.

I guessed as much when I stated the text I highlighted in my original post.

I would love for Bioware to continue the story of our Warden, but seeing as DA2 is making Hawke out to be "the single most important person in Thedas" I doubt the Warden will be mentioned in a significant way anytime soon. Plus, I may end up liking Hawke more than my Warden, but we'll have to see about that until after I beat DA2.

Meh, my Warden's and Leliana go off into the sunset and live a long and happy life; the Warden discovering the secret from 'The Calling' to removing the taint, or some other method. The two lovers die peacefully in their sleep, taken at the same time by the Maker, in their sprightly eighties/nineties (since Leli does have a good ten years on the Warden by all signs).

My F!Warden and Zevran? Again, happy ending, together after seekign a cure for the taint.

Cousland and Alistair? Every Mage in the land (and the Warden's of other lands) seek a cure for the taint, finding it, and the two rule justly and happily for many a decade before passing the crown to their eldest.

Mahariel and Morrigan? Well, thats a little more complicated, and i'm hoping to find out via Morrigan what happened to them at a later date. If not? They raised their child (or not if I use the save where the Dark Ritual was denied) and grow old togetehr happily, or at least as old as the magic from the Grimoire allowed them to.

Mages? Always a bit of a 'grey' area (heh) really. If Avernus is spared he could very well pass over the secret or research materials that would lead the Mage Warden to the cure for the taint within a few years. Not even really needed either; all the Warden needs to do is figure out how he lasted so long WITHOUT a cure for it. Hundreds of years is a respectable total of years any way you look at it, taint be darned. My Warden would be happy to live that long, and only if he could extend it to his love.

It's entirely possible that the potion you can drink in Warden's Keep enhances the power of the taint; while removing or slowing the rate the taint takes hold with. Avernus is still around somehow, and I personally reckon it's that potion, which means ALL my Warden's are living out their natural lifespans and dying of old age. since they all drink it to aid in stopping the Blight.

On a slight tangent; Mahariels are odd anyway, since the 'roughly thirty years' they can live with the taint (if you don't take any of the previous into consideration) is STILL an incredibly extended lifespan considerign if it wasn't for the Joining they likely wouldn't have lived to see Lothering (or their next camp, as the case may be, that their Clan stopped at).

Nah, my Warden will be alive and kicking until they chose to die or old age claims them. In my eyes the taint can be handled a few ways, and if the potion is taken is likely not even a concern.

Here's your answer:wizard:

Whenever I see this picture I always automatically go "BLEH!"

To the OP: I think Origins might be the most important, but Awakening has some points in the end that might count in the future.
Plus Anders/Justice.
Witch hunt? Doubt it'll be important for DA2, but who knows.

If you choose not to play those add-ons, I'd have to agree with some others that you'd miss out on adding to your character's story in a satisfying way.  Maybe being specifically mentioned as queen is more important to you, but...isn't it enough to know that you were the queen?  Not being mentioned wouldn't change that.

I can at least confirm that the save data retains its integrity through multiple imports. Importing a character who has completed both Awakening and Origins, your Golems file will reflect choices from both campaigns. You receive a letter from Varel if he is alive, or Garavel if he is not, and your choice of Orzammar's king is mentioned.
