but if you simply import the Origins save file, DAII will recognize you as queen.

It will, indeed.

Since you quoted the "but," did you mean to imply that if we become queen/prince-consort, if we go on to play through the DLC, that will not be recognized?

I might as well ask this again:

If I play through DAO with an Ultimate Sacrifice Warden, and then import him into DAA/Witch Hunt, will the fact Origins takes priority overrule the retconned Dark Ritual that allows the Warden to even exist in DAA as far as DA2 is concerned?

Basically, can I have a save that lets me continue to choose what happens in the story of Dragon Age despite the protagonist getting killed in Origins? Will DA2 simply assume that an Orlesian or other Warden did the events of DAA/WH? Or will the Dark Ritual become the "flag" in such a save?

Edit:  Put a third way, I want to be able to have the Warden die, and still choose what happens in DAA/WH without getting rid of the Ultimate Sacrifice.  I am not sure if this is possible.

This is the exact question i was about to ask.. anyone get any idea?

I read that if the save has contradictory info between Origins and Awakening, that the Origins information will take precedence.

Marrying Alistair trades immediate happiness for long-term despair. Two Wardens won't be able to conceive a child, Alistair will die heirless and Ferelden will be plunged into civil war as the nobles race toward the top of the power vacuum.

That's what a concubine is for - hmph - a temporary one though. :P

I hope there will be no happy endings. Not canon, anyway. Everyone's entitled to their own headcanon, but the game itself showed us, I think, that there are no ideal solutions in the long run. It's dark fantasy, it's supposed to be dark.

Protest! It's "Dark", yeah, but not despairingly dark. I think that there should be happy endings available indeed, though those should either happen only by invoking the "Earn Your Happy Ending"-troupe - or by having a more selfish progantonist take an option that'll result in a happy ending for himself and those closest to him/her but which may have dire consequences for the people in the future (like the Dark Ritual)...

I agree, a certain amount of happy ending is nice - I dont like to finish a game and then feel like c**p because everyone ended up in really bad circumstance or dead!Posted Image

Even though it's utterly ambiguous, I like to believe that the conclusion of Witch Hunt offers a possible happy ending for my Warden, without the inevitable "Being eaten by hungry darkspawn in the Deep Roads" thing.

Aside from that, there's not much to recommend in your Warden character's storyline beyond Awakening. Golems of Amgarrak offers a challenging boss battle with a certain fleshy mass of grossness that will be appearing in DA2. Witch Hunt is painfully short, but the companions are enjoyable enough and you do get reunited with your faithful war hound.

One of the devs has stated that you should think of plot states, such as marrying into royalty, as invisible items. These items get transfered every time a save gets imported into a new campaign. Therefore (barring a major bug) any save that imports from an Origins save will transfer all of the plot states of the Origins save as they were at the time of import. Now if you go through the mirror in Witch Hunt then that should have an impact on the length of your Cousland's reign, but that is a seperate issue entirely.

This save import thing is making my head hurt. Seriously thinking of holding off untill DA II is out and wait until we know what gets carried over. Then I'll worry about my canon Warden.

Why can't 'they lived a good life kicking ass along with their LI and then went to the deep roads when the time came' be the happy ending?

Let me be clear here, I'm not advocating 'everyone dies' endings. I just think that given the tone, "my PC becomes king/queen! and is cured of the taint! and has a lot of babies! and then there's a party with ponies, puppies and a double rainbow!" is an unrealistic expectation and, IMHO, missing the point.

demonic_cookie - I never said that, I simply was unsatisfied with the fact that my PC disappeared, instead of staying where her duties and LI lay.

This is how i assume its going to work. hawkes story starts s little after the wardens, it said that the blight lasted about 1 year, and then 6 months later the events in awakening happened. So from the beginning of origins to the end of awakening is about 2 years, da2 is supposed to span ten years so im guessing as the events unfold in origins you will hear about them while playing da2. Example would be after playing 1 year worth of da2 you will hear of the blight ending and the warden killing the archdemon answer becoming king. then later in the game you will hear about the mother and so on..... So play awakening it should be fine.

It would be a very poor design idea if you couldn't import your queen save after doing awakening, but could if you only did Origins, since it is known that Awakening happens whether you like it or not...

Point being you're the queen for some period of time... and then decide to follow your Warden duties at the same time...

And if you did the dark ritual then you would not be dying from the taint if I recall.

No, you got it mess up, you don't die if you kill the archdemon. The taint can't be removed, maybe slowed but, you'll never be able to get rid of it.

Ultimately whats important is likely not your warden, but the fact you did the Dark Ritual and put Alistair on the throne.

And that's pretty much why my Warden sacrificed himself. MAking an example of himself and strengthening the world's notion of the Order through self-sacrifice beats walking around not doing anything of great significance until the Call gets the best of him.

I find it kind of sad that a hero that rose to being the ultimate moving force in Ferelden politics and military would just sit back, relax and kick it vagabond style. for a while and then die fighting a bunch of Darkspawn.

Which STILL is a pretty epic way to go, mind you. But I still prefer the "giving up life in the middle of Hell breaking lose and saving thousands of lives in doing so" thing. Legends are eternal, afterall.
