One thing that was always fun about the combat in Dragon Age was the killing blows you got periodicaly on enemies, where a head was choped off, or you nonchalantly twisted the weapon out of their chest while they fell to the ground.  Will that make a return in Dragon Age?  I would hope to see at least the cinematic kills for Dragons.

They're back, and Mages and (I think?) Archers have them now, too. Honestly, though, I always hated when my warrior or rogue was taken out of the fight for what felt like forever to jump around on a dead ogre. This was made even worse by the enemies still being able to target him.

Have people really died performing a finishing move on an Ogre? I mean I get the complaints, but I have never seen it happen ever.

i thought the 'time' slowed down so you aren't actually losing ground in the fight

Ha. Yeah, sometimes I would get jealous and force them all on standby when a boss was in low health so I could get the animation on my PC.

I can't wait to see some mage KB animations.

I most certainly did.  Lamest way to die evar.  It was the Ogre at the beginning of the Dead Trenches.

I also got killed by a fireball from the Hurlock Emissary boss (Chanter's board mission) because I had to stop and decapitate his lackey instead of run up and kill him.

I am incredibly unlucky.

You actually die this way quite a bit when you solo the game. With nothing else to target the archers can cut you down pretty fast.

That's why casters and archers need to die firstImage IPB

Why weren't you targetting the Emissary from the get go?  That's just bad tactics.

The worst part about it was that I had revived Alistair to be the distraction, smh

From my understanding they can occure on mook mobs as well but im not 100% sure on that. Either case I know they're still around and all fighting styles have there variants. It maybe entirely based off just getting a critical hit for the last hit and it ends in a more spectacular way, guess we'll find out later.

I personally wish they would happen more often depending on how much was left to kill, and had a 100% chance of happening for boss mobs cause, seriously, they need there head chopped off after a long grueling fight. But seeing it happen on the first few mobs at the start then not later on was awkward for me.

Saw Mook mobs explode Baldur's Gate style in the video that was posted recently, but I have yet to see any of the old deathblows we saw in Origins.  Though perhaps they are all new, I don't know.

I loved the Killing blows in DAO but they should make them more awesome like Assassin's creed counter kills.

I actually said OUT LOUD to my party that if any of them stole my kill on the high dragon in Drake's Fell, I would be very pissed. Throughout that playthrough, the party kept taking my kills. Fortunately for them, I got the death's blow on it.
