I was pretty set on getting the signature edition for DA-2. What I want to know is, why bioware decided to stop selling it before pre-orders were even up? Some people don't have money bleeding out their anus and need time to come up with some, so why screw the company out of more money and come up with a stupid idea like ending it? Whoever had that idea should be fired.

More like "Love Bioware, Hate EA's buisness practices"

and it was to generate interest and hype for the game probably. Lots of pre-orders are good for them.

They were upfront about it. Why is that unethical? Most retail based industires have incentives to buy a particular thing at a particular time, are they unethical too?

I would like to point out that usually preordering costs little to nothing. Amazon I know does not charge anything until an item ships. You don't need money bleeding out of anywhere to preorder.

I don't have money bleeding out of my anus (just blood, unfortunately), but luckily they gave us like six months to pre-order.

It was available for a while, and people had their chance to preorder before the cutoff date. *shrug* I fail to see anything underhanded when (assuming you at least have a credit card) someone could place a preorder without putting money down, etc.

The SE was a marketing device to drive pre-orders. It was limited time to drive those pre-orders faster.

Why? Who knows, probably has something to do with advertising dollars, or the number of previews it gets or something.

But its no different from a Black Friday sale which runs from store opening at 3am until 6am, and then stops,

I'm confused here....

At most places, preorders typically don't take money out of an account until the day the thing ships out. Therefore, unless you use money orders or send cash directly,  technically you didn't need the money set aside just yet.  You would have had from the date the Signature went on sale to the time it was no longer available.  And even then,  money wouldn't come out until about March 7th or 8th, depending on what shipping you selected.

I'm sorry you weren't able to get it for whatever reason, but to be fair,  it's a limited edition thing.  If it's for sale for a long period of time,  it can't be considered limited and there's no reason to take it off sale at all.

Historically, BioWare Collector Editions sell out. Limiting the amount of those to sell (they can always make more) is no more arbitrary than setting a sell-by-date. Why is the Signature Edition getting so much hate?

I guess to generate hype, it's not like BioWare are the only ones who do this. Also, could have done without the $ coming out of rear end part X0

Pre-orders are free from all major retailers (physical and online) save for Gamestop. Gamestop charges all of $5 for a pre-order.

As a consumer, it's up to you to find these things out.

They announced when the free upgrade offer began. They announced at the beginning when it would end. It ended on the day that was stated to be the final day of the offer. All pre-existing pre-orders had the offer applied automatically. What is unethical about this?

Whose crooked business ethics allowed this to happen? I can reserve a Signature Edition without actually paying for anything?

I still haven't paid for my signature edition preorder.

My anus, however, IS bleeding money. I'm rich, but terrified.

actually its not unethical second its a great business stratergy

its simple Pre-Orders are a nice way for companies to get a bit more money out of publishers like EA

basically the BIOWARE people responsible for getting money off EA can take the number of Pre-Orders to EA and say look how popular our game is

the higher the number of Pre-Orders the more likely EA is going to give them more money
the vast majority of the cash would likely go towards Marketing (marketing games is important see bizzare)

but some of the cash could go towards adding more testers to ensure the game goes gold on time
it could also go towards convincing EA to let BIOWARE make any DLC themselves rather then contracting it out to a smaller studio (depending on EA's control of the IP i dont pretend to know the inner workings of BIOWARE)

as i said though PRE-Orders are mainy used as a driving force for marketing whats the point of a bus advertisment or an ad if Pre-Orders start a week out from delivery? by the time they had the numbers to sway EA to make the ad the game would be out

how many movies are a successs when the tv ads are out AFTER the movie is released?

the time limit ensures that the die hrd fans are rewarded AND at the same drives marketing that attracts new fans and casuals gamers which in turn generates MORE MONEY

which means the chance of DLC AND another DRAGON AGE GAME in the future once again making the CORE fans HAPPY

everybody wins............... its called CAPITOLISM folks if you dont like check out north koreas booming video game industry!

The fault is your own, not Bioware and/or their business practices. Q

Tell me how that works out for you. I can see that going very well or very nightmarish.
