The Signature Edition was incentive to collect early pre-orders, hence it being for a set time, and the incentive was free stuff, so this "screw the company out of more money" too is a croc. It cost them to do it.
Seriously, The Signature Edition is one of the better things ive seen EA do.

The problem with the signature edition is that many gamers don't read gaming forums or press releases. Many gamers didn't even have this game on their radar until recently, or generally decide to buy games after reviews etc. They will feel disadvantaged if they don't get the same value for their money as others. You can say it's a true fan's duty to know of such things in advance, but I don't think Bioware wants to sell games only to true fans.
Assuming the said gamer was living under a rock there was no way to avoid the news. It was everywhere; within Gamestop stores, on the site, on the EA store, on game sites. Sorry that they weren't paying attention, they can buy the exiled Prince if they feel so inclined. This not the first time Bioware has done this. They did it for Jade Empire too.
Video games have to attempt to sell the most within the first 6 weeks getting the release date sales to be as high as possible is just business. Movies do it all the time.

I was pretty set on getting the signature edition for DA-2. What I want to know is, why bioware decided to stop selling it before pre-orders were even up? Some people don't have money bleeding out their anus and need time to come up with some, so why screw the company out of more money and come up with a stupid idea like ending it? Whoever had that idea should be fired.
I, too, don't have finances to throw around based on a whim. gotta take time to save up for a $60 game like this.
which is why i pre-ordered the Signature Edition in October, and will pay for it March 8th.

If you cannot come up with $5 (or whatever local currency you use) within the timeframe you were given for Signature Edition pre-orders, you have much bigger problems than not getting the Signature Edition.MRathbun wrote...

But most game stores let you put $5-$10 down on a game without having to pay until the actual release date. I've been paying my copies off slowly since they started offering pre-orders. It's definitely been easier than coughing up $220 in one go.
They certainly could have made more money if they continued selling the Signature Edition at extra cost after the promotional "free upgrade" period - but I think people would have been just as annoyed about that.
If you care as much as you seem to, why are you just now discovering that you missed out?

True, but they do want to give an added incentive/reward to their more loyal fans.

And aren't you forgetting that pre-ordering the game is... uh, free? Gamespot does require a minimum of $5 down and even that comes off of your total when you purchase the game. If having $5 mean you're bleeding money out of your rear, I think we should all be calling a proctologist.
I think it is quite nice of Bioware to reward fans of the series with special content.

If you need time to come up with $60, you shouldn't be playing video games.

I don't think you understand the meaning of the word "what"
The proper response to a "what" question does not begin with "because"

Also some places it's free to pre-order. Otherwise it's around 5 dollars. If you can't afford that, then maybe you shouldn't worry so much about buying a game right now.

Wrong. It costs money, which adds up.
Anyway, Bioware is now an EA brand.
The DR's knew what they were getting into when they decided to wave the EA flag.
I am sure they are all well aware of the marketing strategies EA is using.
Don't be so naive to love Bioware. They are part of a corporation to make $$$.
I respect them as game developers as their games are generally good.

If Dragon Age is so low on your list of priorities anyway, I don't see what you're whining about. A game that falls below your personal radar like that isn't one you'd normally buy "extra swag edition" for, is it? Sure know most of my non-BioWare games have ordinary editions on my shelf =)
