It costs nothing to print disks and packaging.

Oh because you have proof of this? If this was so why is the market slowly but surely moving to Digital Distributation?

Because it costs even less to charge for a download, plus you cut out the middle man. Charge the same price and keep the difference.

Yeah it removes retail and the disk manafacturers. Those disks aren't free they have people that create the cover art to mass produce for the covers to put on the disk. They all cost money. QUit pulling stuff out of your butt.

If Dragon Age is so low on your list of priorities anyway, I don't see what you're whining about. A game that falls below your personal radar like that isn't one you'd normally buy "extra swag edition" for, is it? Sure know most of my non-BioWare games have ordinary editions on my shelf =)

+10 coolness factor for using "extra swag" in a manner that I actually understood.

I still haven't seen anything in this thread that would convince me to love BioWare or hate their ethics. (This sentence is not a response to you, KiddDaBeauty. =P)

With people so dumb as to make purchases for DD, I certainly have nothing to moan about buying the hard copy....regardless of the fact the actual cost of manufacture is a pittance.

Great title ...very remedial reasoning behind it

I was pretty set on getting the signature edition for DA-2. What I want to know is, why bioware decided to stop selling it before pre-orders were even up? Some people don't have money bleeding out their anus and need time to come up with some, so why screw the company out of more money and come up with a stupid idea like ending it? Whoever had that idea should be fired.

How many people have never heard of Pre order before this?
Where does it say you have to have money ummm yeah put 5 dollars down and that game is yours and pay the rest as you go or what the f ever.
Welcome to 2011 it must suck if 5 dollars is too much.

If you need time to come up with $60, you shouldn't be playing video games.

You mind justifying that, or was it just a silly statement with no actual reason behind it?

Wow, I wish I lived in your world. I'd set up a distribution company right away and make a fortune! ^_^

So... any store or company that have limited time offers are unETHICAL? Seriously? First of, that means so to say any game company, with steam, amazon and various retailers having games discounted for a limited time.

Secondly.... in what concieveable way is that unethical?

The organizers of Black Friday and the holiday sales should probably be hunted down and burned on a stake then. With their crimes spanning an entire country. Image IPB

OP, I'm just going to repeat what everyone else has been saying; the Signature Edition has been available for months. I too had a bit of a money problem when I found out about it in November (because for some reason, everybody has their friggin' birthday in November), but that still gave me enough time to save up before the offer ended.

To put it short; it's your own fault.

One other thing; the whole 'it cost only $5, what are you moaning about?' argument is invalid. Depending where you're from, prices and dates of money substraction differ. I'm from The Netherlands, and I had to pay the full price immediately upon ordering.

I still haven't paid for my signature edition preorder.

My anus, however, IS bleeding money. I'm rich, but terrified.

Crumbs, I don't envy the people you buy things from.

OT: Pretty standard stuff, it seems to me. Of course Bio/EA want to sell as many copies of their game as possible, hyping up special 'limited edition' preorders and such helps them do that. It'll look great on pre-order charts which will presumably encourage even more people to buy the regular game. Plus pre-ordering is free (from most places). There are lots of valid criticisms to be made about big corporations and the like, but no great evil here.

I'm pretty sure murder is a moral issue, not an ethical one.

Try telling the doctor who gives a massive dose of drugs to a dying patient to end their pain and get done for murder its moral not ethics.

Back on topic however. This busines with pre orders has shown itself to be stupid by the wy many folk who did preorder in good faith are now losing out in content due to BW/EA's inept marketing system.

OP, you had a number of months to come up with $60 (I pre-ordered in November). It sounds to me like you've been sleeping and missed the boat, now you're blaming Bioware.

How hard can it be to raise $60? If it is such a problem for you, either you need to find another hobby or you need to find a job.

Besides, most retailers only take your money from pre-orders when the item is dispatched. I am speaking from my experience living in the UK, Us may be different.

It's still a moral debate. Only under the issue of it being consensual would it be a matter of ethics.

Yeah, sorry, shutting up now.
