Many gamers love fantasy games because it allows them to be something they are not. Sometimes this is a criminal, or a villain, or some kind of monster which you would never want to be in reality. Other times you assume the role of an ideal version of yourself. Many people view the Hawke they create as a fantasy projection of themselves. This is how I usually play, and there are many like me. A few people take it a step further and try to create this ideal fantasy of themselves in the real world by being proactive and taking the steps necessary to do so.

Often times the positive fantasy version of ourselves is honest, noble, great looking, heroic, and hard working. Unfortunately the real life version of ourselves falls flat in comparison, not because we are genetically/situationally incapable of achieving the goal (although sometimes this is true), but because we are too lazy to take the steps required to achieve this ideal scenario.

So ask yourself this, if you are roleplaying some sort of ideal version of yourself (and not everbody does), why not take the steps necessary to make that fantasy a reality? If your goals are similar to mine, then start being more honest and fair. Get out of the house and do things outdoors and cut down excessive gaming. Put down the junk food and eat some vegetables, healthy fats like nuts, and lean protein like fish. Start grooming better, shower daily. Go to the gym and build that body which all your fantasy characters have. Its amazing how a simple rpg can provide inspiration for improving your life and becoming the person you want to be. That is all.

If thats the person you want to be, than hats off to you! There is a woman who is trying very hard to become the most obese lady on the planet. She makes sure she eats as much as possible, and moves as little as possible, because thats the person who she wants to be. Good for her! She is taking the steps necessary to reach her goals, as are you, as am I. It's those people who are not taking the steps necessary to reach their goals who this message is intended to inspire.

I do all of these things already and am in arguably better physical shape than the avatars of the characters we tend to play, so, uh, thanks, I guess?

I understand that earning an income and putting in a 40 hour workweek really puts a damper on people achieving their fitness and nutrition goals, especially when combined with gaming.

My life is not easy, life isnt easy for anybody. I have worked many full time jobs, but I hate being a slave to some business owner who capatilizes far more on my hard work than I do. That is why I work for myself, freelancing in several different trades and earning residual income through different types of income generating ownership. Many people dont have this option and are forced into corporate slavery. France has taken proactive steps by instilling a 35 hour workweek but I still feel this isnt enough to prevent capitalistic greed. In the end, workers work their asses off for the rich business owners, who grind their workers with false promises, only to leave the workers with enough money to survive while they lavish in their riches. Im off topic now, but thats my view of working for someone else (not always, but with many companies. Some companies are great to work for.)

Should have kept to the "improve yourself" theme. At least it was only marginally off-topic. This anti-capitalism rant is lock-worthy.

Offtopic?!  This entire thing is ridiculous!  This has nothing to do with Dragon Age, why did you even post this here?  You must know this thread is going to get locked.

Edit: I must add though, that the original post did make me laugh.  I love the "shower more".  Seriously, that you feel the need to tell people you don't know they need to shower more...

Im not anti capitalism at all. I am anti un-regulated capitalism. 2% of Americans have over 80% of the wealth in America. Thats not a failure of capitalism, thats just bad regulation governing capitalism.

This topic is totally related to dragons age. The topic is taking the positive from fantasy and turning into positives in reality. Last I checked, Dragons Age was a fantasy game which allows you to design your Hawke and play him as a projection of yourself. Why can't I create a thread that may inspire some people to live healthier lives and achieve their goals?

In order to improve your life even more and be a more idealized you, then you should probably go for the high dragon as opposed to just the regular dragons.

Yup I can relate that to myself.

I'm not sure I can honestly claim myself as "falls flat in comparison". I'm still that person with strong sense of  justice, honor and I am hardworking to earn my living.

Well my goal is to develop my own story base on my first warden ultimate sacrifice. I'll title it as Dragon Age Origins: The New Beginning/ Genesis. I'm still working on it. Should have completed few months ago but the toolset isn't as friendly and easy to use as it was. Too much frustrating playing around custom cutscene.

Nope. I have different goal. I don't see how it relates to Dragon Age 2. But thanks for your opinion.

Edit: Damn... I type so fast I miss a lot of things.
