I recently got SoZ.. and when I tried to install it, in the middle of the installation it had something like ERROR: something Something Can't Install Data4.cab (reduncacy).. so.. me trying to be persistant, tried to reinstall it again only to find that now it didn't recogize I had NWN2 installed.. So out of random curiosity and I still needed to finish a game on NWN2 OC campaign.. only to find out THAT didn't work..

So ggreeatt... Now both my MotB and my NWN2 OC stopped working.. and now I have to practically re-install and patch the whole gosh darn thing agian! Not to mention I had to manually delete the NWN2 and Atari folder to unistall it.. since it had some error naturally uninstalling it..

Could someone please help me? I've been wanting to play SoZ for half a year now..

Here are this computer's stats...

Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Basic (6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 (6002.vistasp2_gdr.101014-0432)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
System Model: Inspiron 1545
BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A07
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU     T6400  @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
Memory: 2010MB RAM
Page File: 1285MB used, 2977MB available
Windows Dir: C:\\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
DxDiag Version: 7.00.6002.18107 32bit Unicode

I know that there is something special that you have to do with SoZ on the bioboards, but its all Computer Geek Jargon.. So if this is in that Jargon... please.. simplfy it and explain it step by step... I'm kinda getting depressed already that my game is crashing and I can't play SoZ..

I'm going to try and re-install NWN2 OC in the meantime... -sigh-

A couple of things:

Cyclic redundancy errors indicate that something went wrong transferring that file from the disk to your hard drive. There are a couple of things you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Make sure the disk is clean and doesn't have any scratches.

2. Make sure that firewalls and antivirus software are disabled while you are installing the game.

3. Update the drivers on your computer. http://pcsupport.abo...atedrvvista.htm

4. Try defragmenting your hard drive, and doing a disk cleanup (also verify you have enough disk space).

5. Try cleaning the disk drive with a lens cleaner disk.

Also, FYI:

Saves are found in your My Documents > Neverwinter Nights 2 > Saves folder. In the future, remove those files from that folder when you do a reinstall so you don't lose your progress. I'd also go through the Local Vault folder and save any characters I don't want to erase.

IN Vista, it's also important to run as Administrator. I don't know how it works in Vista, but XP gives the first user Primary Admin rights by default. This may not be the case with Vista. CRC errors usually indicate dirty, scratched or cracked disc. That doesn't have to be the case, you could also have an aging Drive or just need to blow dust and dirt out of it.

ehehe... ^^; I put all my save and modded files on an E:\\\\ Drive

Also, I reinstalled NWN2 OC campaign on another computer, and updated it.. Then trying my luck with trying to installing it on the other Laptop... But the same thing.. the other computer was fully defraged and had all updates..

I made a shortcut for the original NwN2 launcher and main so that if something happened to it, I still could kinda use it.. only to find out the Redundancy error hate EATEN the launcher and the nwn2.exe!

Here are the other computer's Spec's

Wait, you got the same error on three separate computers, two of which had fresh reinstalls? I'm not sure I read that correctly.
I'm willing to go out on a limb and call that a registry error. They tend to be fairly common when you crash midway through a setup and can wreak havoc on your install.
--Try uninstalling NWN2 in its entirety from the first computer. Use the Add/Remove Programs part of Control Panel to remove the game.
--Download and install this small program: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
--Once installed, run that program.
--On the left hand side click the Registry button.
--At the bottom click Scan for Issues.
--You'll probably get several things pop up because CCleaner is fairly thorough. Expand the "Data" column out so you can see the full names of the indicated errors.
--Here you can do two things, (1) click Fix Selected Issues at the bottom and just fix everything that popped up or (2) scan the list for NWN2 related entries. Be thorough here. BE SURE TO SAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR REGISTRY SHOULD THINGS GO WRONG--I never use caps, but I want to be sure you don't hose yourself.
Let us know if that works.

usually it's a sign that your DVD/CD drive has gotten old. Cleaning the lense might solve the issue.

It's tied to the DRM on the DVD that prevent to easy copy the CD wich is making the data on the CD not crystal clear..

@Hatter
ohh! nice free software!! I like it!
Theres a few problems, that error was the error when I tried to unistall it from the programs list..
And when I scanned for registry errors.. it was just the application path.. and the program just decided to delete it..

Safe to say there was nothing really there.. T____T

@Shalla..
Really? O___o I have a barely 1 year old comp.. and I updated the disc drive to most recent updates before I did that..
And, well, I cant really clean my computer's disc drive... its the stick in drive.. no the eject and here comes out a disc tray kind..

MagneticDawn, it's called a can of pressurized air. They usually include a plastic tube to stick on the spray nozzle of the can. You open the drive, make sure no disc is in the tray, and then insert the tube about 1/2" into the opening and spray, moving the nozzle/tube around. That's usually sufficient to do it.
