The multicore issue resolved my problems too. How strange that such modern software hasn't been setup to handle multicore.

I'm not impressed at such a highly anticipated game, having such shabby standards of programming.

Was having problems with "Lost Signal" and "Frequency Out of Range" locking up my game playing certain elvish characters and playing in certain areas. I played the game almost halfway through a month ago and put it aside to play another game, came back to play it and downloaded all the updates and installed new drivers, that is when problems began.

Running the game on full setting using a AMD +3500 (2.2ghz, single core) Athlon 64, 4 gb of ram, ATi Radeon single 3850 PCI-E X-fire card.

The game ran perfect until I updated. Not a hiccup, nothing.

So, I downloaded the Riva Tuner and ran the game, after adjusting the Core Clock down 50 points and memory clock down 50 points.

Once I got through Ostergaar, so far I have not had to use Riva Tuner to run the game, I am currently back in The Raw Fade and have half of that done.

BioWare should take the hint..

To whoever out there that came up with this fix, THANK YOU! You deserve a job at BioWare!

Okay, I saw some mention of this error earlier in the thread, but no posted solution.  I'm running the game on an inspiron 1525 laptop.  I've had several discussion with tech support, and the stats are all at or above suggested requirements.  I'm getting the Blue Screen of Death due to the following driver file: igxpdvu32.dll.  The driver itself is the Movbile Intel express 965 family.  The error does not appear to be with the disk as tech support allowed me to do a direct download.  I've updated the drivers several times, as well as uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers in safe mode.  I still get the blue screen of death identifying 1gxpdvu32.dll as the problem file.

I have no idea how to find a working driver without this file.  I have no other ideas how to get around the problem.  Has anyone found and/or fixed this problem or have suggestions what else to try?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The fact that it runs at all is a miracle. The driver is, as you pointed out, for a Mobile Intel Express 965.  This is a chipset not a graphics card.  As such, it does not meet the requirements of the game.  The only thing to do is see if Dell can sell you a hardware upgrade. Don't bet on it though. To resolve the problem permanently, you're going to need a new PC.

The error code you posted is just a general error.  You really need to update XP to SP3.  Try that first.

In the Gauntlet of Dragon Age Origins I have killed the four ghostly
images but cannot progress as the metal door remains locked. I have
repeated this task several times without any change. Is this a glitch
or have I missed something? This issue does not seem to be mentioned
elsewhere.

Where exactly are you? I can think of a couple places where "Gauntlet" might fit so narrowing it down would be helpful.

Hey,
I am unable to install the 1.2 patch. It  goes to unresponding as soon as I try to install it.
Any idea of how to fix it?

Hi, I don't know whether anyone asked this question or not, but I would like to avoid browsing through the entire topic. Could someone tell me whether DAO could run on my laptop? It meets the minimum requirements, but my video card(?) is "Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family". It has 224 MB VRAM.

If it can, what kind of driver do I need?

BTW, my system's specs are:

OS: Win XP SP3
Processor: Intel® Core™2 CPU         T5600  @ 1.83GHz
Physical memory: 2GB

If there are others that are needed then please tell me, I don't understand any of it :pinched: Just copied from DAO config. Thanks in advance

Hi Guys,

Don't flame me for multiple posts, but I wanted to offer a possible solution to all the crashing problems.

Take a look at my post here for more information. Turns we might be blaming the wrong people i.e. ATi. Looks like the blame may need to be laid at the feet of Microsoft and possibly Bioware!

See what you think!

Both cores were ticked, so nothing happened.

And it's been giving me DragonAge.exe errors all day. Not impressed :(

Phenom fix for problems ranging from long load times to poor performance. Try only if you've tried everything else first.

All information courtesy of Nujabes via this post: http://social.biowar...58/index/156838

Following this link from the post listed above you can find the full information of what this does:

http://www.hardwarec...our-phenom.html

To sum up the problem with the Phenoms. Vista SP1 enabled a bandaide patch to fix RARE crashing on certain early phenoms. The fix disables that bandaide patch. When the bandaide is enabled the phenoms see a performance decrease of up to 30% . So this program simply disables that bandaide fix.

All I've done is combined the two needed programs into one and summed up the instructions here:

Step 1:

I've combined the needed files from the phenom fix here:

www.dateranoth.com/videos/phenomfix.exe

It's a compressed executable rar file. Just extract them to a folder on your computer somewhere. Everything needed is in there. Once extracted simply open the folder and run this file: TLB_Disable.exe with administrative privaledges. If it works it should say

Status: Phenom TLB patch disabled. Phenom at full speed.

Now try to play the game and if it helps continue to step two:

Step Two:

This is not necessary if you are willing to manually run the TLB_Disable.exe everytime you reboot.

If the fix did work you are going to want to set it up to do it automatically when the computer starts as it's only permanent if you change it in your bios. As I don't know if each particular bios has it or not its easier to just change it on startup.

Go back to this page:

http://www.hardwarec...our-phenom.html

Scroll to the bottom of the first post and follow the instructions about Setup Program AutoRun at Startup. I would recommend moving the folder with the needed files to a permanent location first.

You should actually see a performance increase across the board. ( in other words better performance in DAO as well as most other games and CPU intensive apps )

Your phenomfix.exe link does not work. I get the 404 error.

It's the last thing, besides from a fix from the gamecreators, that could help me.
And other than that, gaining the extra performance would be awesome anyway.

Would be extremely grateful if you fixed that.
Thanks

*edit*

I followed the instructions on the other link you provided, and the TLB patch is now disabled :)
Thanks for the help! :)

Not sure if this is the right place, but here is my issue. I recently re-installed Windows 7 and had to re-install Dragon Age. Since then, when I try to log in to a Dragon Age server to verify my downloaded content, I enter my credentials and the "connecting" dialog pops up for a split second and disappears again without logging me in or showing me an error message.

I know that I am connecting to a server because if I enter bad info I an error message telling me that my username / password are incorrect. I have tried running Dragon Age and the update service as Administrator. I've disabled my Windows firewall and connected my PC directly to my modem.

@ Red Menance  I have the same issue, unable to log in from the game. Not sure what is going on. I have tried just about everything on various forums. If I find a solution I let you now.

Sorry if there's a thread or post about this already but I'm having an issue during movies and cutscenes. The audio likes to double up or lag behind the video. Basically, the audio and the video are completely out of sync for almost every cutscene/movie.

Mah system is:

XP Service Pack 3

AMD 6600+ 3.0 Ghz Dual core

8800GT

2 Gigs of ram

Random PoS soundcard since the onboard sound on my motherboard took a crap a while ago. I've updated the bajesus out of my audio drivers though and still no dice. My video drivers are also up to date.

I'll post this here too, hope it's okey;

I haven't been acquainted with any bugs in DA before this, so this is my forst post on the forums. Hello y'all.

To get to the point: This is my second playthrough, and I don't recall having this bug the first time..
Well, after you entered the Fade at the start your supposed to enter the mouse form to bla bla bla we know all that. However, this playthrough nothing happens at all while trying to click to enter the mouse form. Click-click-click, nothing happens. I've tried every approach. Simple bug, but still very very annoying. The results in me being stuck in the Fade literally, and I can't go any further.

Help?
