@ Redmance System Error, please try again later. If the problem persists, please contact EA Customer Support.'

The password authentication system in Dragon Age: Origins will trigger this error message if your password contains special characters.

Check your password, that was my problem.

Hi uaeo. The password was my problem. Strangely, in my case, I got no error message. No feedback at all, the authentication dialog simply closed silently.

Changing my password to be less secure was the solution, but it seems really silly that EA should allow us to set passwords their game cannot handle. In any case, if someone could add this as a variant of the 'non-alphanum characters in password' issue in the FAQ, it might save someone some trouble down the line.

Thanks for your help and, incidentally, sorry for the table breakage my DxDiag output caused. I had assumed there would be appropriate line breaks in the file.

It would be nice to be able to attach files with a 'text/plain' MIME type to posts for diagnostic purposes (hint!).

I hope someone can give me a hand with this kind of weird problem:

Just to start off, I've got an older PC - I've got an old 2.6 Ghz Celeron, 1 GB ram and a Radeon HD 4650 1 GB card. The processor and RAM are definitely old, the video card (AGP) is pretty much the best option I can have with my setup.

So anyhow:

I installed the character creator to see what kind of drain the game might have on my PC. The program installed fine and I was able to go through everything great (hence my profile pic to the left). Everything looked super sharp and I had no issues.

So I fired up the game and got the character creation and am now having a weird issue. I can import my previously created character but the model disappears, all the slider options and such do not appear, the attributes section is broken (doesn't reflect proper stats for the class, just stays at like 11/10/10/10/10 etc.), the talents and skills sections are also broken, not allowing me to select anything and not allowing me to complete character creation and start playing.

The issue is for both my important character and for trying to just start a character from scratch in-game.

I did the "Quick Play" option and it tossed me in there with an ugly bald dude and ran through an opening cutscene, but then I hit the first area and it said I could "Level Up" and when I attempted to do so, the stats were still broken (still showing 10's etc.) and I attempted to add points to them and closed out the screen and it still said I needed to "Level Up" but then when I tried again all those stat points disappeared.

I tried to troubleshoot by messing with graphics settings - from lowest to highest and a bunch of stuff in between with still now luck. It'd be nice to play, but if I can't even get past the basics of making a hero, well, that could definitely be bad. Any suggestions would help.

get the nvidia driver cleaner. Google it i forget the name of it. When you uninstall your old video card drivers it has a nasty habit of leaving old drivers and or registry entry's or both on the system. I have had that issue before when i went from ati to nvidia and visa versa Its a better solution then doing a whole os reinstall over a video card If the driver cleaner cannot work try reinstalling ur old video card boot windows into safe mode and uninstalling the drivers then run the cleaner shut down the pc after words and reinstall the newer card.

Well, I did a reinstall and *didn't* patch it this time and it's OK now. So hopefully the game doesn't get bugged out. Crisis averted.

I seem to be getting this problem, whenever i try to load in any save or start a new game, it crashes. At the loading screen it crashes, it started earlier today, i dont know cause i hadnt played in a while, but it crashed, so i tried patching it, and it still crashed... I dont know what to do, it's also changing the colors of the desktop before it goes into the game to like 16 bit and it never did that before?

I'm getting a nv4_disp display driver error, only with Dragon Age Origins. Some days it's quite a frequent event and I have to reboot my computer 'cause it's futzed the screen and I can't tell whats onscreen.

My drivers are all current. I tried google and all answers suggest it's a game problem not a driver problem. Can someone help? I was hoping there was a previous post from someone else having the same problem but I can't see any. It wouldn't be because of the mods I've got loaded would it? (The mods are for hair and eye colour.)

Silly question...and not really a problem, but wondering why this is happening...

I purchased the expansion, and now when I try to use my original disc (Origins), the system asks for the expansion disc...it won't recognize the original...shouldn't the original still be considered 'valid' for playing the Origins portion of the game?

In the past while playing other games after installing an expansion, the game would ask for the new disc, never was a problem.

In the meantime I became quite certain, that it's not the expansion causing the crashes but the newest patch.

I continued an older DA:O game and have the same crash-trouble like I have in Awakening.

After the release of DA:O I never had any crash- or other technical problems with the game.

the  game is bogging down in the movies an during game play
DA origins
AMD duel core 64 3.0 ghz
Vista 64 - SP1 - all patches
8 GIG ram
GT 8600 - 512 video

I have turned all the details to low
I have applied the duel core fix - from this forum
I have patched the game to the latest patch on the website

The game is freezing up at random moments and will stay that way for a couple of minutes - then comes back and allows play for a few minutes then freezes again. Its really bad durning the movies and during the conversations.

My windows rateing is 4.8 out of  5.0 -- Help this is frustrating Image IPB

After installing and playing Awakening I wanted to start all over from Origins. The game works moslty fine, some random crashes but not to bad.. though I have 2 problems..

1. Everytime I try to open a chest or disarm a trap etc my audio sounds corrupted, but only when I open chests etc, not in dialogues or cut scenes etc.

2. In the DLC Return to Ostagar I freeze at the same point everytime, when I get close to the gate into the area close the tower of ishali.

Now, I never had this trouble before installing Awakning, and I only have this problem with the Origins part, the awakening works perfectly... anyone have the same problem or might know of a way to fix it? Thx for answers :)

Another issue...this one is not amusing...!

Wardens Keep, which I purchased months ago, and Return to Ostagar appear as 'Unauthorized' under my Downloaded Content.

I followed the robot email that support sent (confirming my cd keys were valid). Apart from that suggestion from them...nothing.

Anyone else have this issue, and if so, how were you able to solve it?Image IPBImage IPB

PS: I registered Origins (which I had neglected to do), and the two modules briefly appeared as being playable, but after several seconds reverted to 'Unauthorized'....sigh....Image IPBImage IPB

SOLUTION:  I went to y Documents\\\\\\\\Bioware\\\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\\\Settings\\\\\\\\profile.dap and renamed the file profile2.dap.  When I restarted DA, the file was recreated by the program, and I could access all my downloaded content!  Thanks to Kepha for the fix...

Hey guys, i have a trouble in my Dragon Age Awakening. My Character Creation screen do not show the character! It's blank! Empty!

I can't customize my character in that way, and the result is a one that don't renderize the armos nor the weapon that i'm using.

I need suport, please, 'cause i have already searched in Google for the fix of this problem and nothing important have appeared.

I'm desperate. Please, help me...

You wish. Maybe Bioware thinks working on a fix especially for those problems requires to much effort. They will probably try to fix this in a larger patch-release. Who cares if owners of the Steam-Version of DA or buyers of Awakening can't play for a month or two - after all, the stupid suckers already paid.

I can't start the game at all, after clicking "play" on the launch screen, the screen goes black and then a "Dragon Age: Origins has stopped working"-error message... Running it as admin, reinstalling and doing all the basic tricks doesn't work. I mean, never mind crashing, I can't even play the damn game at all! Any ideas on how to fix this?
