Game ran pretty smooth at the beginning, first 20-30 hours of gameplay, then it started having some frame rate issues.

At nearly 50 hours it's unplayable, even after just restarting the game, load times do decrease, but frame rate is horrible. Tried the processor affinity, no effect. Identical (and terrible) performance on both 800x600 minimum settings and 1280x1024 max settings. The core(s) is always at 100%, even at the main menu.

Got the 1.01b patch up and latest drivers for everything.

Win 7 x64
Athlon X2 4200+
9800GT
4GB RAM

Oh' that is compleetly OK. See my previous post? I have almost the same thing. Yesterday the game was generous, so I was able to play smooth for a 4 (!!!) hours. Today I load up the game and, once again. 3 frames per seconds. No one really knows what to do here.
Anyway, I'll think, before buying a bioware game next time.

Hi! I recently installed windows 7 on my system hardrive and have finally gotten dragon age to work. However, I can't choose the "load game" option, as if I have no saved game. What buggs me is that the game was installed on a different partition. Where is my saved file? How can i continue playing my original game?

I sincerely hope someone can help me with this, it's driving me nuts!

Wow... I've been on the road for a bit of business (and then visiting family for the Thanksgiving holiday) the last couple days and I'm glad to see the number of people who've had some success. I'll also attempt to see what I can do for the people who're having problems (though being on the road, I'm where I can do my testing and attempt to recreate problems.)

@Jhunter Did you happen to try the downclocking that Jam mentioned? The fact that it takes 2-3 hours to freeze suggests you might have something in the background running that's trying to do something. We've positively identified the issue with AVG 9.0, but there may be other programs running in the background that cause problems (including a problem a guy had with a video sharing program that he used in conjunction with his TV.)

Hi

I've managed to get the game working with a GEFORCE 7500LE graphics card, once I downloaded the latest beta drivers. It worked the first time but when I came to start it again I've had real trouble. I finally figured that if I use the quick launch executable in the Dragon Age directory it will start but if I try to use the Play button it just fails to load with a standard 'this program encountered a problem and needs to close.' error message.

This is somewhat annoying as my machine meets the minium spec for this game and should be running without these issues. I understand it will not play with all the bells and whistles on but it should play. If not then the minimum spec should be altered as this is only leading to frustration.

Anyway, rant over. The game, itself is excellent. Just wish these sorts of bugs could be dealt with before the game ships.

Once the game is running I've had no problems but wanted to share this issue I've been having.

So I'm in the room where you get the Juggernaut chest piece, I've defeated all the bad guys and as I'm about to leave the door from where I came from is closed and it is locked and it say that I need a key to unlock it. So, like any good gamer would do I searched the room over and over again in search of the key, but it is no where to be found. So I went on to youtube to see where to find this key to subside my frustration and to my surprise I discovered that there is no need for a key, you simply walk out. So I can only assume that my game has gliched out. How do I fix this problem?

I'm having major problems with this.

I have:
Intel Core i7 2.7GHz
3GB RAM
NVidia GForce 8500 GT
Windows XP SP2

I've installed the latest drivers for the video and audio. I've tried every option listed for the core affinity. I've turned off every background application including antivirus. I've uninstalled the program from my G partition and reinstalled it on my C.

I started a game last night. I made it up to the auto-save right before you fight the rage demon in the fade during your origin story. I can get through the battle fine, but after selecting my response to Mouse once the battle is done, it goes from frames-per-second to taking seconds-per-frame. If I have enough patience, it does keep going, but paint drying on the back of a snail travelling along a growing blade of grass moves faster than the game at that point. It's very strange - I can restart the computer fresh, go straight into the game, run through the battle and dialog, and within 2 minutes, it's slowed to a near stop, with 25% cpu usage and over 500MB memory usage. It's insane.

I'm out of ideas, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am getting “Module will not load” When I try and start a new game.
I uninstalled the tools, and the game but kept the saved games and reinstalled the game,
and still get the same message trying to start a new game.
should I just uninstall the everything and re install the game?

Thanks for any help.

In case it's been buried, and so you don't have to dig for it, i will post it here in the sticky.

This worked on my Radeon 3870

1. Download Riva Tuner 2.24   (do a search..its free)
2. Under the MAIN tab, Click on Customize, Low Level System Settings
3. Lower Core clock 50 points       My Setting: 800 down to 750
4. Lower Memory Clock 50-75 points.    My setting: 1170 down to 1095

Update: This method got me though all of Ostagar, the wilds, and the beacon tower with ZERO crashes.

Odd thing is though, when i reached Lothering i had forgotten to underclock the card, but the game was running as normal again.

So far, the game runs without this fix once you leave Ostagar. Maybe it will stay that way,

Fingers crossed

Wanted to get this out there since I can't seem to locate any posting on it.

A friend and I both have this problem. The 2 things we share in common are vista 64 and gaming keyboards(different keyboards but both use their own software).

Neither of us can take a screenshot manually. Even stranger while we are in game the old tried and true take a screen and then cut and paste it won't even work.

The game will auto take screens at pre determined spots in the story no problem. But zero user screens can be taken by any method.

Hooked up a non gaming keyboard and still couldn't take a screenie. It is very strange. If I window the game i can take a cut and paste ss but not within the game proper even if you reassign the key.

I really miss taking the SS as I'm a photographer.;)

Yesterday, I redeemed my codes, started a new character, and I went through some troubleshooting, and finally, there were no additional problems.

Today, I can't load my saved games because Shale isn't authorized all of a sudden. I'm guessing it's because this Shale appeared in available content again? (Which I already have installed!)

It also appears that my online profile is corrupted. (In-game!) My profile says all codes were properly redeemed, but I'm stuck with an unauthorized Shale!

The Blood Dragon Armor still appears to be working, but now I'm wondering for how long? I was thinking of buying Warden's Keep, but if this is the way it's going to work then I'll guess I'm going to have to wait untill I've recieved some kind of an explanation? Or when all of these issues are solved? (I'm guessing server problems?)

I still love you Bioware. (I've been a fan eversince I've played Baldur's Gate, so please don't do this to me?)

Check out my thread: http://social.biowar...58/index/275974

it also has links to another guys thread. The other guy deals with fixing DLC content. I deal with in game scripting to fix issues that his thread wont fix, and things that BW won't fix for you.

99% of the time between the two threads people can fix their game, or work around the bug(s) and move on and play and be satisfied

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

After fights, if I leave a party member downed (by not being close enough to him/her), or if a conversation is initiated right after the battle, Dragon Age suddenly becomes a huge CPU hog, to the point where it'll bring my CPU Usage to 100% if I don't resurrect the downed party member(s)/ end the conversation. This results in the game running to a near halt. If I am able resurrect the party member(s)/end the conversation quick enough, then the game runs fine, even if the symptoms had started occurring (framerate/performance dropping notably)

This is especially frustrating during the Landsmeet after that specific fight(avoiding spoilers just in case), wherein the conversation can last much longer than I can hit esc and end the dialogue. Changing my graphical settings does nothing, as setting everything to the lowest values still results in 100% CPU Usage.

Has anyone run into the problem and managed to fix it?

In-case it's relevant, my specs are as follows
Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66 GHZ
2 GB Ram on Windows 7 x64
8800GT w/ the latest drivers installed.

Purchased off of Steam.

I am having a problem with starting anything. I am running Windows 7 pro on a hp laptop with a quad core centrino and a geforce 9200 video card. game installs and starts but the only problem I seem to be having is that I can not see the mouse pointer(sword) on the screen. I can move the mouse around and the menus light up as it passes over them. have patched the game to 101b, reinstalled all my drivers unistalled/reinstalled game and still the same thing. If i minimize game the mouse pointer shows up as a sword on my desktop. any help can be sent to twowords2@gmail.com

Anyone else notice the game takes long and longer to load? It starts off great, then it will literally sit at a loading screen for 2+ minutes. I can't figure it out...this is with the steam version of the game.

Major, MAJOR props!  My 3870 (Win7 64) had the whole work totally fine in the beginning origin story/quest but as soon as Duncan takes you to Ostagar it crashes to black screen/power save but other games work fine.  Tried all the things mentioned earlier but after I lowered the core and memory clock to the lowest settings (i think 733, and 1050?) and also lowering the in game detail settings from high to low, I was finally able to load Ostagar!!!!!

Once I made it to the Wilde I raised the video settings back to high.  In the midst of the tower battle but so far so good with the lowered core and clock speeds.  Don't know why it is necessary for DAO as my GPU load or temps weren't high, but since it works I'm happy.  Annoyed that I have to do a special set up for this game, but happy right now.  Thanks again Jam442!
