It seems that alot of people here are posting threads on how website X has cancelled their Signature edition for really stupid reasons, such as no longer having it in stock or no longer having it in the database. So this makes me wonder why was this just a Collectors edition for and extra £5/$5?

Do you think the signature edition was a good idea, which was well implemented?
Would you like to see similar things done in the future, with games such as ME3?
Did you preorder it, have you or havn't had it cancelled yet?

I still would have preferred a "Collector's Edition with some physical items in it. Too bad the goodies are mostly digital...

It didn't cost me anything extra so i liked it a lot. It was a good idea for Bioware because they were able to create an early incentive to order the game and have some certainty as to how many copies they were going to sell, and it was nice for loyal followers of the game who were going to buy the game anyways to get some goodies for ordering early. I ordered my copy through EA (they sent me a 25% off birthday coupon) and I'm glad because that pretty much guarantees that I'll be getting whatever dlc goodies that are offered. For me a collector's edition with physical trinkets i could care less about, because they typically just clutter up my house even more, so the fact that it is entirely digital is nice.

If retailers were given a specific number of copies they were going to get, and then over sold, that is not bioware's problem, but the specific retailers.

I live in Asia and ordering SE was not as easy as the folks over in North America (I don't even trust the site I ordered from >_> I hope it doesn't cancel my order.) *sighs*

The signature edition is most likely going to be a major disappointment for me, some goodies and a completely redundant character.

Congratulations Bioware, EA marketing department, you've suckered me into it this time, don't expect it to happen twice from now on I'll just purchase either the regular edition or a collectors edition that includes at least some physical goodies.

I don't think it was a bad idea, it just ended up sloppy for some people.

Yeah they really suckered you into buying a game with extra content that cost you nothing. That's like buying a burger and they give you fries for free. If you don't want the fries, you really don't have to eat them, but they didn't cost you a thing.

There is already a thread covering this on the front page, and if you want to discuss the retailer cancellation screw up (not Bioware's fault) there's also the "why you should hate play.com" thread.... on the front page.

The Signature Ediion gives you all this free stuff and you people still act so ungrateful. Where does this sense of entitlement come from exactly?

i won't be disappointed even though i'll probably end up selling the items to get some quick silver and leave the new party member at camp/house/estate/pokeball or where ever party members not in use go. pre-order items did not make me want to buy the game i was planning to buy it around the time of release anyway and SE does not cost any more than the normal DA2 so like i said in another thread i like free stuff.

It's not the worst by a long shot. .. I just wish they'd not ended it before announcing the DRM...

What difference does that make?

I misread. But the ammount of people not being able to get it now, even though everyone pre-oredering was supposed to is rediculous. Considering the offer ended before the game went gold, getting it to them all should be no trouble.

Don't presume such things, I happen to reside in the middle of nowhere at the moment, so ordering this edition from an American retailer does in fact cost me somewhat more in shipping and handling, if I'd known this beforehand I would just have waited until the one computer/software store around here got it in stock and bought the regular edition then.

The Signature edition was a masterful Marketing idea, their goal was just to reward the loyal fans of the series, not to pamper limited edition collectors.

The idea of a truly limited edition (as in time-span one can pre-order or a limited stock) that cost no extra? Yeah I love it. Older games that had collectors editions often have a limited stock, but at least to me, it seems like as of late most games don't. They have CE but its just limited in that you can (generally) only get them via a pre-order which isn't very limited if you ask me. Plus a lot of stores get a buncha extra they end up selling directly for a few months.

And Finis they where saying anywhere you can pre-order would auto-upgrade to the SE. If you didn't pay attention to that, and blame them for your lack of information that was directly and readily available that's not really there fault. Which seems to be the biggest cause of anger on the forums. People just not paying attention. One guy earlier was ****ing about how stupid the SE is because he didn't pre-order it due to 'lack of money' but he just pre-ordered the damn thing. The most expensive place to pre-order it? is physically, in the Gamestop shops for 5 bucks down. Just no excuse to being angry about something like this past wanting to blame BioWare for said buyers fault.

Like any other Limited Edition? Nope was a good move, I mean hell it got me to buy it early was going to anyways.

But It sucks when you find out such things that GS forgot you ordered it. :crying:

Oh yeah. They got you gooooood. It's not like you can't cancel your preorder or anything.

The idea is good but the execution is poor. How can a pre-order of an unreleased game be out of stock? Someone in Bioware/EA or from the retailers should explain why this is happening.

I'm a little confused. How exactly did they sucker you? Did they mislead you in some way about what was included in the Signature Edition?

I dont mind the signature edition, but it shouldnt have been for pre-orders only. They should have just sold it for $10 bucks extra, along with the standard edition at retailers.

Interesting. I look at my other Collector's Editions and I'm actually feel cheated to be a "loyal fan" (quoting PR lines is cheesy).

The soundtrack is a nice addition, but I couldn't care for the rest. Making everybody else to pay for the day 1 Sebastian DLC feels like Project Ten Dollars (until they make the new copy DLCs purchasable anyways).

The only reasons I can think of are a.) the retailer didn't let EA know how many copies of the SE were pre-ordered before the deadline ended, or b.) EA didn't order enough copies to be manufactured.

How many retailers have cancelled orders for the SE? Is it just Play? If so, I'd guess that it's the former.

The Signature Edition was just as welcomed as any other Collector's Edition with the normally increased price offset by the (not so much) limited timeperiod in which it was offered. That is the same marketing move as any other Limited Edition of any game. Do people consider those a bad move?

As for Pre-Order cancellations and such, that is entirely fault to idiotic employées of the retailers where people suffering from said thing ordered from and has nothing to do with BioWare or EA for that matter. If some idiot throws my bread in the dirt, do I blame the bakery for not making the bread bacteria-proof?
