Signature editon, worst marketing idea ever?

Do you think the signature edition was a good idea, which was well implemented?
Would you like to see similar things done in the future, with games such as ME3?
Did you preorder it, have you or havn't had it cancelled yet?

If retailers were given a specific number of copies they were going to get, and then over sold, that is not bioware's problem, but the specific retailers.

Congratulations Bioware, EA marketing department, you've suckered me into it this time, don't expect it to happen twice from now on I'll just purchase either the regular edition or a collectors edition that includes at least some physical goodies.

Yeah they really suckered you into buying a game with extra content that cost you nothing. That's like buying a burger and they give you fries for free. If you don't want the fries, you really don't have to eat them, but they didn't cost you a thing.Finis Valorum wrote...

The Signature Ediion gives you all this free stuff and you people still act so ungrateful. Where does this sense of entitlement come from exactly?

It's not the worst by a long shot. .. I just wish they'd not ended it before announcing the DRM...

Don't presume such things, I happen to reside in the middle of nowhere at the moment, so ordering this edition from an American retailer does in fact cost me somewhat more in shipping and handling, if I'd known this beforehand I would just have waited until the one computer/software store around here got it in stock and bought the regular edition then.

And Finis they where saying anywhere you can pre-order would auto-upgrade to the SE. If you didn't pay attention to that, and blame them for your lack of information that was directly and readily available that's not really there fault. Which seems to be the biggest cause of anger on the forums. People just not paying attention. One guy earlier was ****ing about how stupid the SE is because he didn't pre-order it due to 'lack of money' but he just pre-ordered the damn thing. The most expensive place to pre-order it? is physically, in the Gamestop shops for 5 bucks down. Just no excuse to being angry about something like this past wanting to blame BioWare for said buyers fault.

But It sucks when you find out such things that GS forgot you ordered it.

I'm a little confused. How exactly did they sucker you? Did they mislead you in some way about what was included in the Signature Edition?Finis Valorum wrote...
The signature edition is most likely going to be a major disappointment for me, some goodies and a completely redundant character.

The Signature edition was a masterful Marketing idea, their goal was just to reward the loyal fans of the series, not to pamper limited edition collectors.
Interesting. I look at my other Collector's Editions and I'm actually feel cheated to be a "loyal fan" (quoting PR lines is cheesy).
The soundtrack is a nice addition, but I couldn't care for the rest. Making everybody else to pay for the day 1 Sebastian DLC feels like Project Ten Dollars (until they make the new copy DLCs purchasable anyways).

The only reasons I can think of are a.) the retailer didn't let EA know how many copies of the SE were pre-ordered before the deadline ended, or b.) EA didn't order enough copies to be manufactured.Zippy72 wrote...
The idea is good but the execution is poor. How can a pre-order of an unreleased game be out of stock? Someone in Bioware/EA or from the retailers should explain why this is happening.
How many retailers have cancelled orders for the SE? Is it just Play? If so, I'd guess that it's the former.

As for Pre-Order cancellations and such, that is entirely fault to idiotic employées of the retailers where people suffering from said thing ordered from and has nothing to do with BioWare or EA for that matter. If some idiot throws my bread in the dirt, do I blame the bakery for not making the bread bacteria-proof?
