Greetings.  Currently trying to do a NM solo run as a Dalish Rogue with almost all points in DEX.  I would like to go from DA:O all the way thru Witch Hunt before DA 2 if I can.  However I am having my first seemingly impossible fight  at lvl 9 fighting the dragon in the werewolf den.  I've tried traps, all versions of poisons/extracts (he seems immune to stuns), even respeccing to all different builds (which almost feels like cheating).  The closest I have come to victory is getting him to 1/2 life before he overwelms me.

I currently have 100% party damage and would love to keep it that way by not bringing in any help.  I guess I could just leave Brec Forest for now and come back later =/

Come back later. Even if you somehow get past the dragon, the shadow werewolves will destroy you.

Make sure to pick up all the good equipment before starting the treaties. Helm of honnewhatever is called, the key to the city(Orzammar), bard dancing shoes... etc etc. Spell resist gear is also a must.

I'm assuming you already did the Circle so go ahead and do Redcliffe and Urn. Felon's Coat should be unlocked by now.

If you have easy sidequests on your journal go ahead and finish them for some easy XP and money. For example, you can do that lyrium quest in Orzammar and then Rogue quests in Denerim. Just remember not to waste your money on equipment your are gonna replace later.

Some items you should definitely buy when you have enough money:

-Lifegiver ring
-Spell resist runes(enchant them on your backup daggers)
-Spell resist necklace(forgot the name lol)
- Felon's Coat
- The rose's thorn - this is temping but try to get this last when you have everything else
- Bard's dancing shoes

Brecilian forest and Orzamar should be saved for last when you are well equiped.

How's your stealth? If it's high enough, you can probably stealth out in combat to get enough of a breather to use some healing potions.

...I also used stealth to just walk past the shadow wolves. (That won't work with the Ortan Thaig boss fight or the broodmother, which I also found to be tough.) Your victory conditions may vary, but I didn't feel that I had to kill them to win.

There is one thing you didn't mention: Bombs. If you have level 2 stealth you can use them while in stealth. The dragon does tend to see through stealth, so be prepared to reload. Bring as many as you can of at least two types of bombs (other than fire). Lay down traps at the door entry and be prepared to run when stealth breaks. Use swift salve to up your rate of attack.

It's been a long time but from what I remember, my toughest fights as a solo Rogue were...

1. Spider Queen
2. Shadow Werewolves
3. Drakes
4. Flemeth/High Dragon
5. Anything else with overwelm

With my 2H warrior I didn't have any problem with the above, but I did struggle with just about everything else... lol

If I had to restard a solo rogue right now I will most definitely focus on getting enough strength to equip heavy or massive armor and get dex later.

Thanks for the info folks! So I snuck by the dragon without being seen. I'm going to see how bad the shadow werewolves own me, then sneak past them if I can, and come back later for their heads.

I thought any rogue can solo nightmare as long as they had combat stealth? Stealth and Regen their Health back up then fight again. Repeat.

have you tried being a Duelest/Ranger and useing the bear as a tank or are you rather underleveled?

I hear Ranger/Duelest Str build with Massive Armor works wonders for solo rogues. Also its not too difficult to make a near if not 100% dodge rogue in origins pretty fast as well.

I guess this is one encounter that helps having a non-active party tagging along, as the drake would often lose interest in my Rogue and turn it's back to my blades. But this is one best left for later in the game as a rule.
