Everyone probably knows that a comic download came as part of the PS3 version of the game, and if you didn't and just read this , you do now.

You could argue that it was only there because PS3 owners never got ME1 , but it's actually really handy for other reasons as well. The majority of import stuff is basically "fluff" minor NPCs, pointless email etc.

The comic let's you mess with the key variables, without needing to spend 20 hours of your life on the previous game. I think that makes it useful even if you have played ME2.

It also addresses some of the fairness issues if the squad carries over to ME3. The SM is pretty much a scripted event anyway, so at least people playing ME3 only would have some input over who ended up in their squad.
It would have to be longer and have more than 6 branches and for pity's sake make it part of the disk and not a download.

Goes without saying the comic from ME2 should be included as well.

PC owners can use Gibbed's save game editor and fiddle with more options than the comic gives. We'll probably get the same options with ME3 once Gibbed works his magic again.

No. Way too many variables/characters to introduce. Game is already available on all platforms.

Except Wii. But the Wii exists for SSB: Brawl and nothing else.

The comic was a great way to bring players up to scratch, but it was still flawed when compared to ME 360/PC save files.

Certain characters were missing and those 'fluff' emails added more to the game.

But as you mentioned, it does cut down on 20+ hours. The third has to/must come with a comic feature.

I beg to differ: Mario Kart Wii, TLoZ:Twilight Princess, Ookami and Super Mario Galaxy would like to talk to you on that behalf ... Image IPB

I don't think they indended it for the purpose I use it for, but as long as it works. Image IPB

I do have the 360 version, eventually got around to playing them a couple of months ago. I'd say losing the missing stuff was worth the time saving. Especially as outside the plot planets I find ME1 a tedious experience.

Should they have a comic? No

Will they have a comic? Sure

I don't think they should the pretty cover work can't hide the hideous inside work done and its that visual hideousness that makes it really really hard to enjoy the comic especially when Liara ends up looking like she does there is no good word to use to describe how bad she looks in nearly every shot the other npcs she encounters fair little better. It's rushed and a comic is not the place to cover all the intricate details of the series novels or manga style comic would do better.

Well they can port ME2 on Wii and I think Microsoft might let Nintendo have Mass Effect 1 on Wii.

I disagree with the no comic commenters, the comic sets the main things that you need for the beginning of the game before there is a save game to edit. I want the comic so I can have those most basic decisions set when I start the game at level one. I can add the fluff with gibbed later.

Same thing with ME3 I want a comic so I can play another set of choices quickly without the overhead of replaying the previous games. Sometimes you just want to play the current game. The art style really doesn't bother me at all. No Conrad Verner, no Shiala, no Wrex, no Gianna, no Spectre status really bugs me.

The comics overlook massive parts of the game. If the people who buy the game without buying the prequel actually CARE about the prequel, they could just buy that mothereffing game too.

But if they only buy ME2, or ME3 without any of the others... Well, shame. No comic.

PS3 already has the Comic for ME2, any other version does have Mass Effect 1. It is a darn trilogy, you can't expect to roll in starting with the final piece and get the full experience, nor should you be babysitted. Tolkien didn't write a one chapter summary of each LotR book's predecessor up from The two Towers. If you start reading the series with The Return of the King, it's your own fault. Genesis is passable for PS3 Mass Effect 2, though I'd rather have you folks play ME1, but any Comic or that alike thing has no place in ME3.

This.

Also, I'd rather not have the previous game retconned into oblivion again. I sincerely hope those ones in the PS3 comic aren't canon.

As I said above, I could care less about the art. I just hate the fact that there is no save game to edit until after these choices have had an impact on gameplay. If the beginning of the game creates something to edit prior to the choices having an impact on the game gibbed would work for me.

I really don't have the time nor the desire to rush through a playthrough just to setup a save with the choices I want pre-save game creation in the next update. I don't see what the flock people are whinging over. Sure after I've stopped playing the game for a couple years I might be interested in doing a complete trilogy playthrough but I hate starting at level 5 and would love to have the missing elements restore on a level one start point. I can't right now and that sux. Doing no side missions other than Firewalker, Kasumi, Zheed and Overlord already has me at level 30 with 4 loyalty missions left, I'd rather start at lvl 1 than lvl 5.

Listening to all of the dialog and playing all the side missions in ME1 is easily over 60 hours. Some of us have a life outside of the Mass Effect universe.

While having a "Cliff's Notes" version of ME 2 might make sense, after seeing the PS3 comic, I sincerely doubt it could be done right.

I mean think of the descriptions for the squadmates:

Jack "A troubled young woman with a staggering amount of biotic talent

Miranda:  "A cool, efficient Cerberus officer"

Tali: "An adorable young quarian woman I knew form my Spectre days.  How she has grown since then!  So beautiful!  Such a brilliant engineer!  Sometimes I just want to rub my face across her helmet and..."

Jacob:  "Jakub was a good kid"

It would be better is they simply had a series of multiple choice questions that handle the major plot setup. Screw the whole comic thing.

Recruit Wrex? Yes/No
Recruit Garrus? Yes/No
etc. if they want background info make it a ? button that would give you a quick voiceover run down on the background for that choice.

While I personally agree, I fear there would not be enough "Awesome!" in it for some.
