Even though I've played ME1 I support the inclusion of the comic. It will help in drawing more players to the game. The idea of needing to play the previous game to get the full experience could scare away new prospective players. The comic reduces that barrier, even by a bit.

A comic, no. But some kind of optional pre game choice list where you can check what you did and didn't do in 1 and 2 so that it carries over to 3 so that you can start a new game with the universe the way you want it to be.

Obviously any of the minor situations that might show up in ME3 from 1 and 2 shouldn't be part of the list because of how many there can be. But all the major ones should be part of it.

I'm kind of torn about it honestly. I bought ME2 because I saw a cool commercial on TV. I'd never heard of Mass Effect. I didn't even know that it was on the 360 instead of the XBox. I loved it, it rekindled my love for games. I did feel lost however, and I regretted not being able to have my full paragon Shepard be the ultimate hero. I eventually (after about 5 playthroughs) downloaded the original game and made a paragon playthrough. I liked ME1, but I didn't like it enough to put up with the Mako for another playthrough (I hate the darn thing, It's the only thing I don't like about ME1).

So I have the best of both worlds, I played ME1, and I get to use the comic to change up scenarios during playthroughs. Needless to say, if I were a n00b, I'd want it, but I would hope that it is better written than Genesis.

I doubt there will be a comic. There's an interview floating around on the interwebs that ME3 will be just like ME2 in that you won't have to play the first two games to have fun. I sincerely believe all that talk about previous choices is just that, a choice, an option and not mandatory. It doesn't really matter, but just adds flavor to the game.

For different character playthroughs, it needs the comic. If the art offends people (Christ you guy whinge about some weird s***!), then perhaps BioWare could use in game screen shots instead.

Personally I thought it's a great feature for new gamers and multiple playthroughs. The only downside for me was the PS3 still doesn't give you the full ME2 experience even with the comic. But thats only because I have experienced the true version of ME2 on 360, using my original ME save.

Surely it can't be worse than Weegee. I take that back, he looks like a satanic elmo

While that's ok for people who have already played ME2 and just want to test what happens when you mess with the variables. It's no use for people only playing ME3. In order to mean anything, the choices need some sort of context. Be it a comic, or as someone suggested a screenshot flashback with voice over.

There is no need for a comic for me3 if you havent played the previous games than that is your fault. Go on mass effect wiki or something.

P.S I play on 360 but i know about the comic I went to my friends house who had the demo with genesis on ps3 and before it played i ask him if there was anything about feros he said yeah watch it and nothing about it.

I am for the comic but i think it should only cover ME2, maybe only the Council decision is the only thing they get from ME1.

Also Id love to play through ME1 again, but Microsoft is selfish sorry.

There are only 6 from ME1 so I don't see it as that bigger deal.

I don't think anyone seriously expected to see ME1 on any other platform. Unless they were just "unaware".

It wouldve been nice to have ME1. I think Microsoft couldve made a profit for every PS3 copy sold and no doubt it wouldve just been a downloadable game.
But didnt expect ME1 to come to PS3, wouldve been nice you know. Microsoft already lost ME series as an exclusive they shouldve tried to make a profit from releasing ME1 to the PS3.

But you do have a point, just ME2 only seems a bit much already for people who are just getting into the series. ME3 should also encourage the player to wanna pick up the other 2 games to get the full experience, mine that they pick it up on the 360.

This is my belief, too.

It would be better is they simply had a series of multiple choice questions that handle the major plot setup. Screw the whole comic thing.

Recruit Wrex? Yes/No
Recruit Garrus? Yes/No
etc. if they want background info make it a ? button that would give you a quick voiceover run down on the background for that choice.

I'd support that, but on the other hand it kind of defeats the purpose of having a trilogy. Why play the other two games if you can just select their variables and outcomes in a list?

How about not having to spend 20 hours playing the previous game just to set up each list of variables ?
On the PS3 it takes like a minute to set the variables if you skip, although you have to be careful not to select accidently. I'd call that a worthwhile feature for anyone who does not have those 20*X hours to spare.

Although if you go that far, you lose nothing be having some context for new people anyway.
