Now what could Flemeth be up to?. The word "Ritual" sounds very worrisome when you take into consideration its something she put you up to. She's got a reason for it though. Im looking forward to finding out what it is.

Twenty bucks says it is the Grey Warden ritual, which has been altered to give the characters a unique ability.

They said the Grey Wardens' role in the story isn't central, though.

"They describe Carver as antagonistic. They just say Bethany is your sister."

Hmm, I alreaddy expected Carver to be atagonistic. I wonder how far he will go. maybe he will betray you?

The Bethany description, or lack of, is trubbeling since there has been talk about her not really having a personality. Since I was really looking forward to having her in my party this makes men sad. And makes me wonder if I maybe should have Mage Hawke as my "real" Hawke anyway. Carver may be an dick but he is an intresting dick.

Just a note that if the reviewer played a character that got to know Carver, that probably means he wasn't exposed to Bethany at all. Insofar as someone else saying she doesn't have a personality, I can't really speak to that. Not everyone is going to look on characters the same way.

With the darkspawn retreating, he is leading an expedition into the Deep Roads, and Hawke wants to join.

Do we need money *that* much to go into caves no doubt populated by spiders?

I believe this previewer was a rogue or warrior. The reviewer from PCG UK also was a rogue or warrior.

That said, some people really don't like Sten and think he's boring. I would strongly disagree with them on that aspect, as he and Alistair were hands-down my favorites. This previewer also doesn't say if he liked Bethany or found her interesting. It says nothing, but it also says nothing about any other companion but Merrill.

I imagine money is why, but the preview didn't say. Just that you wanted in. Possibly they were going to pay you all extremely handsomely. More than you've gotten from a year's worth of scrounging.

Well, if all/most of the best items in DA2 are bought from merchants instead of found through quests and bosses, then yes, you need money that badly.

I certainly hope not, though. That was one of the few aspects of Origins I disliked.

Hm, if you 'killed' Flemeth in DA:O, I wonder where she get a new body from.

Or if she would perform a certain ritual to get a new body.

Hmmm....

That seems unlikely. She should be prepared for death at any time, not waiting around on some refugee to get around to doing a ritual.

Anyhow, when we meet Flemeth, it is before you get the chance to kill her.

I have feeling he's atagonistic because he's jealous that his brother/mage and sister were born with gifts he wanted, but doesn't have.

So after 5 hour of gameplay, there's still no explanation why, in the beginning of the game, Cassandra having problem getting accurate image of this legendary Hawke. Judging from all the things that Hawke could have done, Hawke isn't as mysterious as a ghost that no one can remember.

I'm beginning to suspect, the first few minutes in the game, is meant to get the player into combat as soon as possible and it's been exaggerated by Varric to give the impression that he's reluctant narrator, regardless of any logical explanation for using default Hawke. Cassandra does knows how Hawke look just as she knows much about the rest of the companions.

I think its already been said that you cant even die at the very beginning of the game. Obviously its being used as a combat tutorial. Anyway, this could mean that Varric is overstating your prowess at the start, and that after the prologue, things will become a bit more realistic in terms of your abilities.

The amulet is just the old D&D epic-level standby.  "Here is a **** ton of diamonds.  If you don't hear from me for a month, attempt a True Resurrection spell.  If the diamonds are consumed but nothing happens, get my various sidekicks together and have them go retrieve my trapped soul and/or carry out horrific revenge on whoever destroyed it permanently."

"Addendum: do NOT let the druid reincarnate me into a badger.  It wasn't funny the first time."

I guess some people just can't get over the fact that they have to play as default Hawke in the intro. May I present to you my opinion on the matter? ^_^

I like to bring up Jesus as an example: considering his geographical-ethnical background, it's highly unlikely that he was a tall, white guy with fair hair and blue eyes. And yet, can we imagine him looking any different than that?
Varric begins to narrate the legend of Hawke as it has been shaped by popular belief: this causes some, ah, discrepancies.

It's not like Varric describes Hawke's face in fine detail to Cass anyway (at least that's what I think): this is more of an abstraction. It's the grand tale of the Champion of Kirkwall, so he/she ends up looking like your run of the mill badass action hero.
Then Cassandra calls bullsheeyat and the actual fun starts. It's not like Bioware is snubbing you, or saying your character is ugly.
:)

The jesus analogy is flawed to compare in this situation. Simply because of the accurate historical images of Jesus followers. If one can accurately describe Peter and John, one should have no problem at all to get realistic image of Jesus. As you can see, Cassandra has all the companions accurate images but leave Hawke's image as blank.

I'm not intrigued by default Hawke in the intro. I just don't see the reason for doing so, when we are allowed to customize our gender and class before the intro.

On the contrary I think the Jesus analogy was spot on, I just have trouble imagining how one might find accurate historical images from 2000 years ago.
