Hey, look.

That patron guy in the lower left corner is probably a spy. Also.

I'm not sure a spy would want to advertise actually being one in such blatant manner. Could kind of get in the way of actual spying...

Have they even confirmed if tessellation is going to be enabled in the game? The game can run in DX11, but it doesn't mean they've implemented tesselation...

Even if they have, if they just put it in for gimmicky it might suck or not do much.

The last DX11 game I played that offered Tesselation was HAWX 2 and the tesselation honestly sucked.

Oh, it's confirmed tessellation is in, here... also DirectX 11 is not just about tessellation, there's direct compute as well which is an awesome feature, can't wait to see some DX11 screenshots.

Wow! If it looks this good on a DX9 PC setup, I can't wait to see how it will look on my DX11 Windows PC! Awesome!

There are some really bad looking, low-res textures.
Especially apparent here:

I noticed that also, flat rocks, the ground textures look like the graphics were set on medium with an anistropy setting of 4, but I'll not worry too much, I'm getting it for PC and hopefully DX11 tesselation will make it look better.

I am looking forward to the next entry to see what the DirectX11 version will look like. Obviously the current screenshots are head and shoulders above the previous game, and I hoping that the DirectX 11 one should be noticeably better. :)

Force AF in the control panel. Problem solved. If you're on PC anyways.

I think the game looks great. I can't wait to try DirectX 11.

Well that's a start, but due to recent releases featuring "omfg DX11 TEZZLATIONZ" I'm pretty pessimistic about this, of couse I'd like to be surprised if they actually manage to make it look good.

That's what he wanted you to think. You need clever eyes to know that anyone who looks directly into the player's camera is a spy. I mean, why else would he know that Hawke has swivel-vision that can look around him at any angle and thus issues a challenge directly into his eyes while Hawke faces away?

Heeeey the guy on the right behind the candles. He kind of looks like Alistair! (His haircut and colour are the same, anyway)

The bartender at The Hanged Man. Not Alistair.

Would have made sense if drunk epilouge alistair became a bartender though. Too bad.

*low whistle* Such pretty graphics. Here's hoping it looks just as glorious on the 360. Unfortunately, I'm lacking in enough coin to upgrade my laptop graphically. Posted Image

*makes grabby hands at Hawke's robes* Hey, I just noticed the staff/sword combo Hawke's got on his back. So not only can I shoot lightning at fools, I can flip it around and go all stabbity-stabbity, too. ... I think I'm in love.

Not really, it may improve a bit, but there will still be really bad looking low resolution textures all over the screen.

Have some faith :P, in another thread they said they'd be mostly using it on the environment... I'm looking forward to it.

Waiting for DX11 screenshots. Disappointed by lack of cannons and steampunk airships.

The Great swords are the exact same size they were back in Origins, I'm actually surprised by all the comments about them. I'm glad to see that particular model of Great sword again, the Yusaris was my favorite two-hander back in Origins. :)

The Mage robe and staff look good.

I think the screenshots are really pretty.

Ehh they say themselves it's improved technology of DAO, as such it can be pretty comparable. "Times and times better" is bit of a stretch, and the difference it's harder to determine given the drastic change to the style.

It'd be cool if we could see some screenshots of the DAO levels re-rendered in the improved engine. That'd make the comparison easier and the differences in technology more obvious.

It's always better to let the game engine handle the filtering, overriding cost performance, and I'm pretty sure those images are already at max filtering considering they'd want to release the best shots(DX11 not withstanding)

Oh, i thought you're referring to the fact they chose to sit right next to the resistance graffiti thing Posted Image

It looks to me like DA:O's graphics, only as if a smudgy brown lens which had always covered the camera has been removed. The environments look far more detailed too.  One of these days i'mn going to try photoshopping a screenshot to look more like something out of DA:O.

The lighting is leaps and bounds above origins. You can tell that the game has become so much more atmospheric because of it.

Some very nice stuff, some small detail items look a whole lot better (See the wicker bound jug on the table.)

Staff of MageHawke looks very luxurious, love the handle. And I bet that the first picture is the lobby or a part of Hawke estate.

I can't help wondering if at one point DA:O looked like this, but somewhere in the development process, the texture compressions went horribly, horribly wrong.
