The lighting is leaps and bounds above origins. You can tell that the game has become so much more atmospheric because of it.

Apparently this is a big part of it. David Gaider said something about seeing DA:O with this lighting system and how much better it looked just from that.

It's always better to let the game engine handle the filtering, overriding cost performance,

Sure, if the game supports AF, use it in-game. But if it doesn't force it. Either way, it's going to cost performance.

I suspect that the engine still doesn't support AF, so we'll have to force it.

Now that would make some kick-ass dlc.

Indoor looks alright, but the outdoor areas look like Gothic 3 on low settings. Or Oblivion with all sliders to the left.

Why does everyone says the 2 handers are big when they look the same size as origins? Pretty background though.

The scenery is much improved, and the screenshots are beautiful... But I can't help but be more excited that our mages will get what looks like a version of Bethany's really nice robes. :o

Heeeey the guy on the right behind the candles. He kind of looks like Alistair! (His haircut and colour are the same, anyway)

The bartender at The Hanged Man. Not Alistair.

misread that as the bartender was The Hanged Man, which made me wonder why this is doing a crossover with fallout.

It's because the ones in DAO were big, too. There's a separate thread discussing that somewhere close to the first forum page.

Whatever CD Project Red  might say about the graphics, DA 2 looks really good, especially the cave and outdoor sceneries look gorgeous, even in DX9! Can't wait for the DX11 lighting!

Isn't it great? Makes Hawke look even stronger to be able to easily wield those giant weapons.

The only thing that looks a little bigger is the handle imo.

And they should be, get a better grip to compensate for the weight of that large blade.

I suppose creating a version of DA:O capable of testing DA2's lighting system  as proof of concept is a lot less work than creating a version which runs smoothly enough for commercial release.  He said that it looked good, not thatit was bug-free.

Could be. But what do you think that fly is doing there, all the way in the back sitting in the dwarfs soup? Posted Image
