so what does "offline global illumination renderer" mean? is that basically what there was in DAO? like a pre rendered shadow system that made it look "live"?

They look okay, but there's much better out there. The lighting is nice, but quite a few textures are weak and the environments look so empty.
Isn't Kirkwall supposed to be a bustling city overpopulated with refugees?

The N64 quality skeletons in the water shot is pretty awful, and the texture work in a lot of places is simply bland and low resolution. I like what some of the art is attempting to do for the style of the game overall, but I feel that way, way too much has been cut back for almost no reason.
