hey Mike can you spare a word on Bethany's VA?

"Professional."

She was great to work with. Easy going and really got into the character. Good at evoking emotion, too.

That's what you wanted to know, right?

You are a horrible, horrible, horrible man who enjoys torturing people who care.

I noticed that when the player was using the snarky/joking dialogue Hawke retained that personality in the cutscenes without being prompted.

Good observation. I wonder how hawke responses if you pick a different tone. Guess thats why I'm going to play the demo 20 times.

I noticed that.. And I think that's really cool. I actually feel like we're defining our character moreImage IPB

Well I hope you don't have to stick with one of the reply options for the whole game. I usually change my tone depending who I am talking with and why.

Aveline used to be the character I was least excited about. Now that is no longer true. (Come to Thedas! Punch rocks and darkspawn in the face!)

And omg, Lady Hawke's voice is simply lovely. Bethany's too.

I love it when Bethany says

"We can't just wander aimlessly." Brilliant voice acting. The VA really fits with Bethany. Perfect fit in my opinion.

No You still get to pick tone on certain conversations but the tone you pick the most will become one that makes your responses become that tone. I know I am waaay oversimplfying the system. I will see if I can find the dev response explaining it.

The voices are all good. The combat looks fun too.

There is something odd about the cut scenes, a lack of drama or appropriate music. Can't put my finger on it.

I agree. I think it has to do with the background music which keeps on playing and does not fit propperly. Some more background sounds instead of the music might be good. I'm not sure. it's hard to tell what it is that makes it feel a bit ....wierd.

I love Aveline now. She is such a badass.

I'm definitely going to customize my LadyHawke's face now. I was on the fence before, but I find it too long or skinny, or something for me. I don't think she looks bad... it's just not my style.

The VO is great, though I'm not sure about Bethany yet.

I love the combat animations. I was a bit concerned that they may be too fast, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I love the little sword-spin Hawke does after she hacks a foe.

Oh, and Aveline is a badass. That needs to be said twice.

Yeah. Bethany has a very sweet voice. I'll be sad when she dies in my first/canon playthrough. Also I notice that Carver already comes off a bit aggressive in the times he talked. Not much, but still.

It hasn't been properly edited yet (will be finished within the next few hours), but they've uploaded a "sneak peek" of raw demo footage (6 minutes) today:

Yes, this is 100% legit. No, I didn't create or upload it.

Bethany's and Carver's voice actors are crystal clear here, so our voice actor sleuths better get to it!

demo restrictions:

- no inventory access

- graphics locked at medium/console quality. Higher detail is DX11 exclusive. (probably some DX10 features too, doesn't specify)

So you can't loot in the demo? (Well, even if you could you can't use any of it.?)

It seems that you can still swap for another weapons set but yea that is about it from the video.

This very much.

Lady Hawke's voice while pleasant...lacks a certain something for me. An Oomph so to speak. It feels a bit...flat.

Explanation

Well that seems a bit much maths for my taste. Not sure how that works out, gotta play and see I guess. I just like dark characters who are actually being the good guys. Like 'Dark Knight' Batman or Punisher. Someone people would rather be scared of if they first met or didn't know him well, but who is actually doing things the good way. So the way he talks doesn't really reflect the way he acts and vice versa.

That's absurdly easy to do, even in a polarizing game like Mass Effect - which DA2 is not.

Pick all the rude/brusque options and when time comes, make the heroic decision.

Gosh, how hard was that?

The walking animation at the start sucks a bit, but they do get better though. This game does look like something that can keep u up late at night:)

Well yes. And I hope it works in DA2 the same way. That's pretty much my point. I just don't know how this 'personality tracking' is going to screw with my idea of what my character is supposed to be like.

The personality tracking makes sense so that your Hawke isn't constantly acting like a schizophrenic lunatic. It was implemented pretty superficially in Alpha Protocol though, so hopefully Bioware does a better job at it.
