Man, the combat looks so ridiculous. Cutting multiple enemies in half with a single cut is taking things too far imo.

Looks like I'll be playing this game for the story only, because I cannot take the combat seriously at all..

Does playing games on the PC make people into self-important pricks? Or do self-important pricks just naturally gravitate to the PC?

Good video, has me excited for the game.

I love all the attention Lady Hawke's been getting. If EA site and merchandise doesn't want to do anything about exposing lady hawke, then by god, the Fans and Press will.

Pretty much. xD I'm beginning to love her more and more lately.

I'm sorry but if I was in battle there is no way in hell I would let my mom fight  if she didn't know how. Letting someone run into battle who doesnt know how to fight especially your own mother, is just a bad move. Plain and simple.

Honestly, leaving my mom and dead to die like the Warden in DA:O would be an absolute no go. I'd rather stay with my parents and die. And of course I would tell my mom to stay out of the fight, just that she wouldn't listen to me.

1. If you had, you would have died. You can't play a character who runs away from the Blight, and you can't play a character who sits there and dies.
2. Then you'd have to protect her, thinking more of her safety than your own, which is counterintuitive to what she is actually trying to do. And, if she got wounded, you'd have to protect her even more. You'd probably get killed doing it. Again, counterintuitive.

Well I don't know if Duncan, mom cousland and the young cousland would have died anyway. That's rather speculation to me. And even if, a lot of Howes would have died first. And all Hawkes would have died if not for Flemeth and there was no way of knowing her kids could survive this. I mean if you look at it realisticly, a dagger in the back or whatever and you are dead. It is not like there are hitpoints in real life. I am a guy, that's right, but I think even girls/women should at least know how to defend themselves if they get into the situation. Well that's just my opinion so let's not dwell on it, it leads us nowhere.

What is that move where Lady Hawke kills ten darkspawn with her sword all at once? It's 3:59 in part 1 of the youtube video?

Edit: It's in the exagerrated portion of the game. Also, can we really do that at higher levels as a warrior?

Anyone curious as to how these people made it out of here without being tainted by the Darkspawn? Specifically in the case of Aveline who *punched* a hurlock in the face a few times

I also enjoyed this slice of demo because warrior looks so cool. I usually don't like to play warrior, but now I will definitely do a 2-hand warrior playthrough!

No the arguement is (without all the rage):

1. DA2 on the PC should stay PC oriented

It is. Each build of the game is separate, oriented for that platform.

2. If you're not going to release a demo until 3 weeks before the game comes out, at least release more information than you did (barely anything)

Really? I've seen about an hour of gameplay footage, a lot of previews and interviews on the subject, information about characters, setting, and story.

3. Again, we don't need to be provided with a demo, but also not releasing any information at all until the "last minute" isn't good either

You mean like the many previews and the combat walkthrough?

Almost all games go through this marketing blitz. Keep in mind that not everyone is a nerd like we are, awaiting ever drop from the news drip. Being given a lot of information months ago means that they have less new information to release now, and it won't be fresh in our minds.

4. DA:O sold well for the most part because:
a: it was an rpg
b: it was a throwback to typical wrpgs on the PC from the 90s (a very good thing since the PC does not have enough of these, and then the consoles get a million and one jrpgs)
c: bioware

None of this could possibly be because it was a good game, could it?

Anyhow. It's still an RPG. It's still BioWare. And "spirtual successor" is very subjective.

5. the marketing campaign for both games was more insulting (to me) than it was helpful. I don't want DA to be associated with Marilyn Manson, and I don't want people thinking that in any shape or form because that's not what the game represents at all.

Insulting? Like they wronged you somehow?

The game still sold well, so they did something right.

ps. you can see I bought DA:O and ME2, it's right there under my avatar ;)

So. What you're saying is. You bought a game even though you didn't play a demo of it? That seems like a contradiction from the highly mathematical NO DEMO = NO SALE.

The answer is obvious. I don't let her fight. I don't care if she has a club, a sword, or a minature golem doll. She's unarmored, unskilled, feeble, and fighting against monsters. She would be gutted before she got single hit in.

Agreed. I don't let my boyfriend design my website. He isn't trained in HTML. He'd suck at it.

I digress. She's surrounded by three strong young children who ARE trained fighters, one (or two) that is/are apostate(s). She would get in the way and get hurt more so than help in the situation - she would become a liability.

And we don't want that.

Even if you are a cruel hearted Hawke who is all like "SACRIFICE THE WENCH!", probably not a wise idea since Mama Hawke holds the keys and the ties to your family in Kirkwall, the only place you have left to escape to.

It is probably a whirlwind. It's the exaggerated part though and not like fights really are. Varric just tried to make the scene look more heroic. That's why there are only femHawke and Bethany fighting, and no Carver or mom or Aveline or her husband either.

What purpose do the circles at the character's feet serve?

You being ironic, slim? If not...to help you see them in battle when they're surrounded  by enemies. Especially if you have a small monitor or TV.

I wasn't. I noticed the crossed swords, so it seemed like a redundant feature.

Being near or getting darkspawn blood on you doesn't equal instant ghoulifcation or death.    So that would be how.

thanks, I never really played warrior in origins and never even really looked at their abilites other than taunt and shield bash *shamed faced*
Even without the exagerration portion, it looks like a good move to damage several enemies at once.  Will have to remember that ability for my warrior playthrough. THANKS:wizard:

Did anyone notice, that the menu for changing Hawkes appearance pops up AFTER the exaggerated scene(part1 of the video)? Does this mean, you can make Hawke ugly as hell, and he/she will be still attractive in the exaggerated parts? Maybe Cassandra won't even recognize him/her, when she meets him/her first after Varicks story-telling.

I dont think there will be more exaggerated parts it was only so we chould see how the gameplay whould be at the higher levels, when u pass the CC screen Verick will tell the true story no doubt.

They would have. All of the Origins exist in the DAO universe no
matter which Origin you played. And the youngest Cousland always dies if
Duncan isn't there.

And all Hawkes would have died if not for Flemeth and there was no way of knowing her kids could survive this.

If they really thought that, why didn't they just throw themselves into suicide? They clearly thought there was a chance. Less chance if you had to protect your mother.

I am a guy, that's right, but I think even girls/women should at least know how to defend themselves if they get into the situation. Well that's just my opinion so let's not dwell on it, it leads us nowhere.

No. Let's. I mean, you took the time to mention it. So...you think...that "even" women should know how to fight? Like, it's a man's duty and of course they always know, they're men, but women should take the time to learn even though they're not really fighters.

I sort of doubt you know the first thing about using a sword. I really doubt you could hold your own against vicious monsters with swords when attacked. Even if you know how to fight off a mugger. This is not the same thing as being attacked by waves and waves of darkspawn.

Once again. She doesn't know how to fight. Even if she knows basics like breaking noses, she will still get in the way.

I haven't preordered it, and I don't really think I will.

I'll give it a try with a fine tooth comb when it comes out, but unless what I've seen is dramatically different from the full game, I can just see I'm going to be disappointed.

I never did care about the story at all in DA:O. I thought it was dumb and had too many tropes.

Then there was that god awful character info that Priestly recently released (example about isabella and fenris_ that apparently was officially from the devs...that didn't go over well. I can forgive it if it was just something that was written up quickly, but if not, it would barely pass as bad high school level fanfiction.

However, I will say that generally speaking the character interactions, not so much the story, is what I like about bioware games.

In DA:O you really felt like you were choosing grey areas, rather than just "RIGHT HOOK" and "Okay see ya, not getting involved" as you would from Mass Effect.

Take the succubus demon and the Templar from DA:O. You can't say that that situation wasn't extremely grey.

Anyways, here's to hoping the interpersonal communications with grey choices are in DA2.

That video that was released doesn't really showcase any of that, unfortunately. In fact some of the statements were very awkward and felt more like they were directed outward, instead of at the other NPC.

Or I guess it's just the VA for ladyhawke is so weird and jarring to me.

Wow those exaggerated breasts really are exaggerated.
