Stuff later sounds fine though like in Laidlaw's presentation. problem is that the dialogue itself has beginnings problems.
"Okay so where are we supposed to go?"
"Hmm Let's go to Camelot..."
"Naw let's not it's such a silly place."
"Then how about Kirkwall."
It seems to me something they could've planned it earlier... afterall in DA: O people already knew Lothering was lost no?

Secondly, "Apostate!"
"Darling no, we follow you."
"Ok."
Seemed rather meh.

What do you expect? Shakespeare? :P

Well no, but it's nothing a few extra lines wouldn't have fixed.

Does that mean all party members level together, like in Mass Effect?

"I will take the ring to Mordor!"

"Though I do not know the way"

"Go back, Sam. I'm going to Mordor alone."

"Of course you are. And I'm coming with you."

"Gentlemen, we do not stop till nightfall."

"What about breakfast?"

"You've already had it. "

"We've had one, yes. What about second breakfast?"

OOh, this is nice stuff!

Any chance for a transcript (since giZm doesn't play with subtitles enabled - assuming the demo even has the option of enabling subtitles)?

Did the guy hit TAB at all? Or whatever key highlights everything in your near vicinity? I didn't see him do that. I really hope that's still implemented. I would have died without it in Origins.

I think I just fell in love with Aveline. And Lady Hawke. And Bethany.
... I'm getting the feeling that My mage!Hawke will punch Carver in the face sooner or later though.
... Still like him though.

Some random thoughts:

I don't like the environment (monotone) or the darkspawn (skeletor) in that particular scene, but luckily we know from the live demo that Kirkwall and other areas look much better and that we'll have a nice variety of enemies. I'm not sure this is/was the best scene of the game to showcase. I have no problem with the voice acting. LadyHawke is awesome and makes me consider playing a female toon for the first time. Combat seems faster and more responsive, as advertised. Animations are a bit too frantic for my taste, but at least a s&b warrior doesn't do crazy acrobatics like the rogue from the combat walkthrough. Fire spells are a bit underwhelming visually. I really like the new ability webs and the customization they allow.

The voice of Mama Hawke is EXTREMELY familiar, who voices her?

I found it rather amusing that the whole "omg Bethany has giant boobs!"-thing got quickly explained in like the first 5 minutes, though it’s perhaps more amusing that Bethany's cup size appears to be a part of the legend of Hawke. Does that mean that Carver is beefed up like some kind of Conan-type warrior if you play a mage during the first few minutes?

And the redesign of the menus also looks great and a lot more informative... no, that not quite the right word I’m looking for... hmm, relevant? Streamlined? Anyhow, you seem get the info you want directly when you check your stats, quite the welcome change. I suppose there are many more things that caught my eye, that where to my liking, but I'll skip to the question I've been curious about for quite a while instead, since Mr. Thomas seems to have ventured here and talk a little XP.

Do companions gain XP only if they are with Hawke, like in DA:O, or are they always on the same level as Hawke, even if they are not part of the current party (as squad mates in ME 1 & 2 are)?

The Bethany breast size difference in the exaggerated sequence compared to the regular game is laughable, got to hand it to Varric on that one. :)

anyone else feel the sudden need to watch the old movie actually titled : "LADY HAWKE " ?

aside from that.. the two youtube vids were an awesome treat.

I really like that you can now see your mero/heroine actually interacting and voiced.. it adds so much flavor to the over-all atmosphere .

plus, for a DEMO and being locked on Medium settings... it's a quite beautiful game so far.

I have been following this forum for some time now and thought I would finally chip in with a post.

DA2 really is looking phenomenal.  Sadly my PC can't run anything apart from Solitaire (well until the thing crashes..) so I was stuck with the PS3 version of Origins.  Although it was a great game story-wise it clearly felt like a last minute PC port, which I can't lie did hinder the experience quite a bit and broke the immersion (especially in the stale combat and shoddy animations on the consoles).

From recent previews, videos and interviews all prior concerns I had seem to have dissappeared.  Especially after seeing the demo walkthrough, I really can't wait to get my hands on it!

The voice acting seems stellar (I wouldn't expect anything less from Bioware), the combat seems incredibly responsive and much more visceral (it actually appears to have weight and force behind each attack! No more awkward stumbling around the battlefield, blissful) and the graphics/animations seem to have improved vastly compared to the PS3 version of Origins.

Overall I just want to say thank you Bioware, over the years you have been one of my favourite development studios and consistently deliver the good stuff :)  I can't wait to get my hands on this DA2!

Well for once femHawke answers her mother when she suggests to go to Kirkwall something along 'That wouldn't be my first choice.' And that's it. Kinda makes me wish to shout at her 'And what is your first choice then?!'.

Also the sarcasm line on the templar was rather meh and makes me think I'll go with the hardass line.

The 'sarcasm' lines are frequently corny, the "wrath of the templars" one was ineed just silly. Let's hope that the other sarcastic lines are funnier.

Does anyone else break into fits of laughter when the trolls get angry that Bioware just finished this game in record time? "Wahhhh, it should have been done sooner." I hate to break this to you but they pulled this entire project off in just over a year's time. ;p

I'll switch it up from the lower-right to the upper-right choices. Most of the time I'll be picking the hardass choices.

Which was rather too short than not fast enough.
