Varric said the chantry is falling to pieces and needs hawke's help. What'd the chantry do i wonder? Did they kill andraste then lie and say it was tevinter or something?

The chantry did not techicly exist when Andraste died. My bet is there lyrum supply got cut off and they are loseing control.

Would be quite plausible. The last of the dwarven cities fall or go into full isolation. The chantry can no longer keep their templars suppressed with lyrium.

I suspect that's more because the attacks are faster so you see the same animation over and over (and over) more often... so you get bored of it faster. That there's no visible reaction from the target to all these supposedly so powerful and over-the-top moves doesn't help, either.

Thats... Exactly the same as in origins Posted Image.

"Faster and more often than in DAO" is really "exactly the same as in DAO"? That's like saying that "faster than X" is "exactly like X".

My money's on mages breaking free.

Let them.  The Chantry can deal with its mistreatment of the mages by itself.  ;)

Let's hope that when we meet ogres later on they fall quickly like they did in DA:O.

Well, remember, according to the devs, Rogues are the ones you turn to when you want a single target to Die Right Now.

Though I imagine when the mage gets more abilities and higher magic, she can make things explode all over the screen at once.

Anyway, I'm a bit disappointed in the stats system (again).  With the removal of the Coercion ability, is there any point to putting points in it for any class other than rogue?  If spellpower scales better for damage in DA2, is there any point in mages putting their level up points in anything besides Magic?  After all, if you're low on mana, quaff a potion (and on stamina, apaprently a drought now).

Also, still a bit sad that willpower and constitution only add five points per point investment.  Seems almost pointless to put any attributes in there.

Supposedly potion timers got tweaked in DA2 to curb the potion spam.

It is the same mechanically. Its the same attacks but faster, and has a bit more variety. Which is better imo.

I don't think its so bad. If DA2 had DA:O animations watching Aveline stab that Ogre over, and over would have been 10x more boring that it is . Also she was low level, and had only defensive talents available. There was no way for her to spice up the combat or do more damage. She was set up as a Tank not a Damage Dealer.

Besides attacks were so bloody slow in Origins it would have taken 10 minutes to kill that ogre if Aveline would have even lived that long.

Uh... is that unending stabbing supposed to be the new "Shield Defense" attacking animation? It could really use some variety.

Someone prove me wrong, plox?:(

Poor bethany, good thing that i don´t plan to play a mage. Also in this video the fight did not look so "action like" i mean the speed of the blows were reasonably quick but not to the point of looking ridiculous, i am glad they found a balance between origins without making it look too silly.

I think your right. Since shield defense is sustained she always has her guard up, and is forced to poke her enemy to death until its turned off.

That death scene was pretty lackluster. I could never imagine a mother reacting that way to losing a child. She would probably be in hysterics or shock. "I'll never forget you"?? Are you kidding? Of course you won't, she's your bloody daughter! It just seemed bizarrely disconnected, like waving some WE ARE SAD banner instead of displaying raw, brutal emotion. Sure, it's a tough time and you might become desensitized to so much violence, but there's no way a sibling dying would warrant a few lukewarm lines. Of all of them, Wesley and Aveline seemed the most sympathetic, which really makes no sense given the context.

If I saw my brother's head get smashed in I would be almost catatonic. If Hawke's a hero that response wasn't all that heroic.[/quote]

Personally, I was hoping Wesley would say something douchey and Mamma Hawke would beat the ever-loving ****** out of him.

And Aveline would just watch.

"You deserved that, sweetie."

Okay Im all ears , Jost how do you prevent your sibbling from dieing?
IT seems set in stone that your Sister dies if you play a mage
and your brother dies if you dont.

can i get some conformation here?  would be great to save em both.

No pound intended.

Hmmm Note to self, pause when the Ogre shows up and rethink my attack plan.

That fight didn't go well at all. I understand that the player lost their second mage before the battle even began but still that was almost a total Darkspawn victory.

When playing a Mage, I think I'll have Carver and Avelin wail on Ogre, while I launch fireballs to keep the smaller Darkspawn off their backs. If necassary, I'll use Carver to take out, the now weakened, spawn while Avelin contniues to wail on the Ogre.

When Playing a Rogue, Aveline's & Bethany are on Darkspawn duty while I solve the Ogre problem.
I'm going to have to trust them to keep the smaller spawn off my back so I can bring the Ogre down quick, and then help them mop up.

My warrior will watch Aveline's back, as she kills the Ogre, while I and Sis solve the mini-spawn problem.

A broad outline, but best to keep things fluid all things considered.

Edit: Animation wise, I like the way the Mage wields their staff. It's got a bit of flare, and a sense of power.

Interesting, you play promo Hawke in the fictional story. Then right before the actually story is told, you get to edit your Hawke?
