Okay. I agree with this. But why are you telling us? Did you start posting in this forum so you'd have someone to listen to your complaining?

No, but I hope most of what I'm saying rings some bells of sensibility into people.

And as for Mass Effect, I was bringing it up because that generally seems to be the main topics in all the bioware main forums.

Who are YOU dating? Man Varric and his chest hair are dreamboats! Omg I wish Tali was real :crying:

it's just surreal

For someone who is in so many Tali groups, you'd think you'd understand what fandom is all about.

One thing I want to commend Bioware on is something very specific-

There is more focus on Hawke's eyes than The Warden's.

That always bugged me. You could hardly tell if my Warden's eyes were brown, yellow, or friggen grey because there were hardly any up close shots of The Warden's face.

Not even that far into the demo and you get a clear shot of Hawke's face, including those striking blue eyes.

THATS what I wanted to see, and I have to commend Bioware for that.

I'm 50/50 on the eyes. Far away I like them, like in the Sebastian Vael trailer, but in this demo, they make me think of Chucky from Child's Play. It's like the characters have Chucky's eyeballs... In different colors. Kinda freaks me out, sometimes.

That might be the effect of seeing too much white.

That's exactly what it is. But maybe that's been adjusted when they were doing their tweaking before the game went gold.

I dont know what groups im in, I joined a bunch of stuff when ME2 came out and only posted a few times since da2 was talked about. I don't even lurk here that often.

Sorry to post this here, since it doesn't directly relate to the demo but to DA2 gameplay in general, but has it been confirmed whether locks will be bashable this time around, or do you still have to be a rogue to get into locked chests etc? I'd do a search, but for some reason the search function is appallingly slow for me this evening.

I'm quite certain we've been told that only rogues can open chests.

Thanks all. Well, given that none of the early companions seems to be a rogue, my ridiculous compulsion to open all .. er .. openable objects means I'll be playing a rogue in almost all my playthroughs. Again. :pinched: At least until someone makes a mod. AlexXIV: Yeah, I wish it could be like KoTOR, where anyone could bash a lock, but if you weren't a thief type you risked breaking the contents. Would mean the lockpicking skill remains useful, without being utterly vital to a loothound like myself. Sigh.

OT: One thing I liked (and I didn't think I would) was the speeded-up weapon animations and even the trails. I know, it's less realistic etc, and I'm not a JRPG fan so I don't have a liking for that style in general. It just seemed to give the combat a bit more ... something.  Oomph? Awesome? Dunno, but I rather liked it.

I'm still trying to figure out if this is supposed to be dragon age or mass dragon effect.

one thing that I found interesting in the video was Cassandra's personality........

I imagined her to be this tough, in-your-face, inquisitor type character.

While she is certainly tough, I did notice a bit of "desperation" and "vulnerability" in her tone.......

which makes me all the more interested in the state of the Chantry.........

I didn´t cringe as much as I thought I would. Besides the sword twirl during a mob fight all other animations aren´t as bad as I feared. Might also be I´m playing Divinity 2 now and it has that style of movements.

Why is it so surreal? The idea that people can 'fancy' fictitious characters, be they from film, or  tv, the personas invented by rock stars, literary characters or now games is hardly a new one. The internet has just created an easier way of talking about it, is all. Harmless fun. As a married woman with kids, mortgage and job, I get plenty of sensibility. I come here to get away from all that for a bit. x

The opening with Varric and Cassandra looks great, but it relly seems to go downhill from there. Combat looks kind of silly, especially for mages. Why does the mage have to do so much posing when doing basic staff attacks, he's supposed to be fighting for his life, not showing off to some cute Circle Apprentices? Also, it looks like the staff now fires cannonballs. Aveline poking the Ogre to death was funny.

Voice acting after Varric is uniformly bad. Bethany in particuar, if you set her on fire, couldn't convince you that it hurts. Somehow you end up not really caring about her dying, Hawke doesn't seem to care much either. I know the player chose a Renegade response, but still you would've expected a bit more.

On the plus side, game looks quite hard, though maybe that's because the guy playing it was so bad. Will really need to play the demo myself to get a better impression.

I'll be fine, then. I'm terrible at the combat parts of games (as in, lose count of how many times I see the reload screen) , so I should find even easy mode a decent challenge. I have huge admiration for people who consider Nightmare difficulties to be a stroll in the park ...

Try thinking of that as a power up - release mechanism as the gestures to use biotics in ME. It helped me a bit.

I'd just like to point out that I think male Hawke's voice is exceptional.

I agree. But, I'd also like to add that Lady Hawke's voice is even more so. It melts parts of me I didn't know I had. <3:wub:<3:wub:

I really liked everything I've seen so far. I am honestly going to be sad when I lose whichever sibling is destined to bite it :( The only thing giving me pause is I have a feeling that when I finally do a mage playthrough it's gonna be hard to me to get good at it, but that's not really a bad thing, just something I noticed. It honestly seems like it's going to be a tougher game all around than Origins was anyway.

Overall, I'm a little confused in my feelings for DA2 which was pretty much reversed from before. Before this slew of videos, the combat scared me the most in DA 2, and I didn't think I would like the changes. It actually seems better to me, with more weight behind each move. I'll just have to have faster space-pushing abilities.

What really worries me now is the conversations. I never really had a problem with ME wheel except on a few occasions, so it isn't the wheel. Does anyone else get what I mean when I say that the conversations just seem...odd? I can't tell why, but it is very jarring and very immersion-breaking. I don't think it has to do with VA though.

The responses/conversations feel very brief and unnatural.  This is a family but they're interacting almost like strangers.  And before everyone jumps on the BUT IT'S AN URGENT SITUATION TRAIN, I mean the responses feel abnormally clipped.  The PC responses in DA:O were limited to 50 characters or less, but these feel ever shorter than that.  Then again, this is just the opener - maybe the fluidity will build as the game goes on.  I hope so.

There's only three videos, giZm said he wasn't uploading anymore because Bioware asked him not to.
