Just saw the new video, with male Hawke. And I've never wanted a Renegade Interrupt more in my entire life.

Wesley: Allow me to commend your daughter's soul to the Maker. "Ashes we were, and-"
Hawke: *PUNCH*
Aveline:
Hawke: NO. NO! You do NOT get to do that! You wanted her dead not five minutes ago!

Oh, Wesley. I'm going to enjoy your sudden but inevitable demise.

Well, he does more than Hawke himself. I´d rather have mother Hawke ( BTW, Eleanor Cousland VO?) slapping both remaining sons.

I guess it would turn that way then:

Neutral sounding M!Hawke - Omg boring, meer clone
Actually tries to pull off some emotion - Omg tries too hard, fake

Sometimes, this forum makes me think that majority of players just dislike the male hero for whatever reason.:crying:

Because they're not and will never be as manly as them. Jealousy.

Sad to see Companions seem to automatically level up to Hawke's level when they join. I hated that in DAO and hoped it wouldn't return. Hopefully they'll all join sufficiently early that they won't be too screwed up, stat-wise.

Hmmm, how would they do it otherwise? I don't want Hawke to be meatshielding for weak-as-kitten partymembers until they level up a bit, or worse avoiding using some companions entirely cos their level is just too low.

Love your sig, by the way. Terry Pratchett is God! x

No, I don't mean start them at level 1. Just start them at whatever level Hawke is, but without the attribute and talent points spent.

Oh, I see. Sorry. I get what you mean, though personally I don't mind them not being a totally blank canvas. It adds to the sense of them having some kind of history before they meet Hawke. Besides, hopefully there'll be respec manuals available (I usually end up making some bad decisions on my first playthrough of games). Can companions use the Mirror of Transformation, or just Hawke?

did you guys notice something, when he was playing as FemHawke, he choose most of the sarcasm lines and when the talking with Wesley/Aveline ended, Fem Hawke says: "if the options are south or die, i'll take my chances with south."

And on the playthrough with MaleHawke, he choose more the strong/authoritarian options, and when the same scene ended he says: " I'm not running straight into the Horde, We go South".

You guys think this is the shaping personality that David Gaider said?

Hey, maybe she will, later on. I wonder how long she'll stick with blaming Hawke for Carver/Bethany's death, before she comes around and admits that she really blames herself... We might just get a few more angry outbursts out of her before she does.

Indeed? I wasn't really paying attention during the Lord Hawke's part and skipped to combat entirely.
So does that mean no more schizophrenia?:o

I know right? Must be the beard I guess.
Apparently, this particular beard is not even available in the CharCreator(or so I heard) so both custom Male or FemHawkes must remain dissapointed. :D

Funnily enough, I was not a fan of Meer's delivery in ME, but I rather like MHawke's voice.  I just might make a male Hawke to experience it this time around.  He sounds fine.

I'm under the impression it doesn't matter. Bethany is your natural friend, Carver is your natural rival. It is a quick and easy introduction into that system.

@ AllThatJazz

both, the devs even mentioned that somewhere.

about MaleHawke: i think the VA is very good. The only problem is that to me Vaughan/Vaughn was one of the main antagonists in Origins. To have him voice Male Hawke now is .... odd.

Sacrasm not needed

That wasn't sarcasm.

Even if she said it in the most b*tchy, snarky tone she could manage, it wasn't sarcasm. Sarcasm requires irony; the intent of the statement must be in contrast to its literal meaning.

Imagine you replied to this post with:
"Shut up, Maria. I don't give a damn about grammar." <- Belligerent, but not sarcastic.

"Thank you so much, Maria! I feel so honored that you responded to me, and I'm sure we're all enlightened by you railing against a three word post!" <- Totally sarcasm

It won't sound fake if VA is any good. In Origins, with every companion you got a clear sense of personality, including Sten (especially Sten). With male Hawke you don't get any sense of personality, he just sounds robotic.

I'm very pleased with both male and female hawke. I think most people are very defensive about the gender of their PC, specifically Lady!Hawkes because there is such a great lack of exposure for her by the publicity staff that they will do anything to peg down the "enemy" that is the source of hiding more info and soundclips from their prefered PC.

That, and I imagine there is a real sourness still resonating after ME2's horrible, horrible marketting relations with girl gamers, where they outright refused to show F!Shepard clips, video, or just about ANYTHING with the common excuse that it would "Confuse their fanbase", really insulting and hurting another chunk of their fanbase.

I only noticed it with Femhawke

It's not related to Hawke's sex. Bethany starts as more friendly, while Carver is more antagonistic.

Makes people who hang out on the internet feel better knowing full well that there is nothing that can be done to change it, thus allowing them to mock the devs for "not listening to my concerns".

Robotic? I know it's a subjective matter, but to me it seems like you are confusing him with Mark Meer.
Not every protagonist has to sound distinctive or like your typical B-movie hero.
Plus he's not supposed to be predefined with a set 'personality', that's why I prefer him a bit more over the distinctive 'posh' talking Lady Hawke (which doesn't mean I dislike her, so far I liked everything I've heard).
