And tear animations are too dificult? ME2 did them, so why can't DA2?
ME2 had way better graphics, and furthermore ME2 had the best 'tears' i have ever seen in a video game.
On a side note, Carver's armor either changes as time passes or is upgradable. We know their armor is upgradable but I have yet to see any proof whether it changes the armor's appearance or not.
As time passes, however, their equipment definetly changes. Aveline can be seen in at least 3 different armors. Exxagerated Carver wears the Grey Warden armor seen in Sacred Ashes trailer - which means he gets that armor [and probably becomes a Warden] at some point in the game.
Him being a Warden later on also helps explain his lack of a unique specialization - he gets it later.

Not really, but I read that sentence I cannot stop thinking about chimps with swords. I wish they did look like chimps with swords. I cannot think of a game that could not be improved through the addition of chimps with swords.janburg wrote...
Does anyone else think the darkspawn run like chimps with swords?!

Actaully, I think they seem to run more like they had some hard gas and dropped a load in their pantaloons.

It's sad thar ME2's console visulals are still better than DA2's PC visuals. Even with DX11 I'm sure the game won't look that much better than ME2.Vicious wrote...

And there's no reason tears shouldn't be in DA2. If ME2 had them so should this. Saying it's too hard is just a lazy excuse from the devs. Until they pick up the pace, the Dragon Age team will forever be overshadowed by ME2, which is a year old game I might add...

One: The dialogue is tremendously awkward. I hope it's not going to be like this for the rest of the game.
Two: Aveline's only attack animation. What the ****? Stab. Stab. Stab. Stab. Stab. Stab. Stab. Stab.
Three: The staff fireballs look and sound like lasers. In fact, it sounds like you ripped a sound file directly from Mass Effect. This isn't Mass Effect, Bioware.
Four: The UI is definitely not an improvement. DA:O's flowed much better and was much more fitting for its genre. This new one is all black boxes. And why does everything glow neon colors? More Mass Effect, clearly. Also, couldn't you pick a nicer looking font? This one is so plain.
This demo has done nothing to pacify my fears for the game. It seems you indeed went in the exact direction I was hoping you wouldn't. Dragon Age was unique and original and didn't need this many changes. All you did was sprinkle Mass Effect over everything. The only redeeming quality I can see is you have kept the challenge of combat fairly intact.

You do realize, of course, that BioWare employees are not going to care about being overshadowed by their own game? This has occured to you, yes?
Also, no tears. They looked bad enough in ME2, I can only imagine how bad they'd look in DA2.

I don't really agree with that. Dragon Age and Mass effect have different playstyles and generally attracts different crowds so I don't think one can be overshadowed by the other. I'm investing in Dragon Age 'because' of how much I liked Mass Effect.Blacklash93 wrote...

Graphics, cinematics and conversations, effects, animation. ME2 did all of those things better. Dragon Age is stuck playing second fiddle in terms of presentation.
Maybe DA2 wouldn't have suffered so much if Bioware wasn't trying to kick it out the door ASAP.

***ATTENTION. YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE.***
This IS NOT the demo that will be released to the public on February 22.
I see a bunch of questions thining that this person got early access to the demo or whatever. This is a build and demo from a convention appearance. It isn't the demo you will all be getting on Feb 22.
Just so you know.
Quoted for emphasis. We will be getting a more finished demo than what you're seeing here.

Unless the changes are so far-reaching that even cinematics have been improved, I doubt the demo will change many minds.

By whose standards? You have three adults, still in a highly dangerous situation, who've already watched who knows how many people (friends) die in Lothering. Do we know the kind of life they've lived? We know papa Hawks already dead, who knows how many people they've lost just to get this far. Perhaps they're just used to death.
So yeah, let's not talk 'normal' reaction about a family we know little about and who have been through unknown harships.
Unless your the most cynical, hardass dbag ever, you'd produce more than a simple grimace at the death of your sister who was just crushed to death by a massive ogre, or so I'd hope so. Oh I forgot, he said some lines that were equivelent to whining about his mother's mediocre sadness over the incident..
There's no need to justify why they're not showing much emotion, because it rings hollow regardless and an idle defense of an emotional scene without said emotion rings just as hollow..

The original DA took much longer than either ME2 or DA2, and the graphics, cinematics, conversations, effects and animations were all worse.

Sounded highly emotional to me, you know, given that they hadn't got past the denial stage of grief yet...
Or even had the time grieve properly anywhy. I particularly liked Mama Hawke's accusation of Hawke, full of quiet bitterness and rage.

That came across to me as Hawke being in denial. Who knows, though.
