I'm not talking about playstyle. I'm talking about quality.

Graphics, cinematics and conversations, effects, animation. ME2 did all of those things better. Dragon Age is stuck playing second fiddle.

Maybe DA2 wouldn't have suffered so much if Bioware wasn't trying to kick it out the door ASAP.
The original DA took much longer than either ME2 or DA2, and the graphics, cinematics, conversations, effects and animations were all worse.
I understand that, but that isn't the case so much for DA2. It's been stated multiple times that DA2 will be around ME2 length. The fact that ME2 and DA2 will have about the same number of dialogue lines also supports that.

I was talking about Dev time, dude, not game time.

And you wanna know something? BioWare is gonna do what works for BioWare, not us.

By whose standards? You have three adults, still in a highly dangerous situation, who've already watched who knows how many people (friends) die in Lothering.  Do we know the kind of life they've lived? We know papa Hawks already dead, who knows how many people they've lost just to get this far. Perhaps they're just used to death.

So yeah, let's not talk 'normal' reaction about a family we know little about and who have been through unknown harships.

Unless your the most cynical, hardass dbag ever, you'd produce more than a simple grimace at the death of your sister who was just crushed to death by a massive ogre, or so I'd hope so. Oh I forgot, he said some lines that were equivelent to whining about his mother's mediocre sadness over the incident..  Plus the other dialogue options looked just as unclimactic and apathetic as the "aggresive" choice.. "She died bravely" and "That's the best we can give" really? wow.. Sounds more like Shepard talking about Jenkins..

There's no need to justify why they're not showing much emotion, because it rings hollow regardless and an idle defense of an emotional scene without said emotion rings just as hollow..

That came across to me as Hawke being in denial.  Who knows, though.

I didn't see denial, Some people just control there emotions further than others. the Dragon age world has death everyday, for all we know hawke could have already had 2 other siblings die in lothering.

You know, the tears in ME2 were actually awful. It looked like everyone had been wearing copious eyeliner which all came off with the hyper-fast river-delta tear streams. I'm OK with no tears if the ME2 tears are the alternative.

Oops... read that too fast.

But even shorter development time doesn't excuse such quality compared to ME2. Bioware is still at fault for rushing the game. But like you said, they're gonna do what they're gonna do, whether it's for the best or not.

Does Aveline have any other default melee animations or will she be poking everything to death for her normal attack?

It's probably her stance, if you see the playthrough with FemHawke, you ll notice that she also use the sword&shield and have diferent attacks.

If thats the case I am impressed. It'd be interesting to see the different attacks based on the different stances characters can take.

Not everyone cries immediately when someone dies. I was with my mom when she died. It took some time for things to sink in. I did it later. Same with dad. Had to hold it together as the oldest and take care of things, call people, there's a lot to do when someone dies. Later..when I had time, I did so in private. Not everyone is outwardly expressive. Doesn't mean they can't feel. All words sound hollow in a crisis. Even the most well composed poetry. Silence can shout just as clearly.

It won't be that different.

How do you know? Have you played it?

It probably won't be that different.

It probably isn't the first demo Bioware showcased at conventions last year. Remember how they didn't want anyone viewing it on the internet?

And if it isn't that demo, there probably won't be too many differences between the two builds.

I'm sorry but who said the magic staffs sound like lasers? What do you want magic to sound like? Sparklers? or are you a magician that knows what it sounds like?

Wow that mourning scene was terrible. Hawke and Carver don't even look like they give a rats arse that their Sister just died.

They used the same engine as DA:O, albeit modified. It is not ME2's engine, but obviously you feel a need to bring ME2 up constantly. I love the ME series, but it's not exactly the pinnacle of uber-amazing graphics.

Yikes. Very glad I didn't waste money or time pre-ordering this game. It looks and sounds absolutely dreadful. PEW PEW PEW and a plain, dull UI. Hopefully, mod tools get released so the community can fix a lot of these things. Lady Hawke and Bro Hawke's voice overs are some of the worst I've heard yet, especially Lady Hawke's, and shows a voiced main character isn't always necessary. Sure, the animations are sped up but they don't look any better than Origins, just flashier.

Can we kill Aveline? Her chin makes me want to vomit. Do all female employees at Bioware have gigantic breasts? For a company that touts mature storylines and content, their female character designs look like a Penthouse forum letter.

No, I haven't played it yet and there's still a chance to get blown away by it but it's shaping up to be Bioware's worst "rpg" yet. Not every studio is perfect so I can't hold it against them. But please oh please don't casualize Mass Effect any more.

The character models are beautifully done and the environment graphics look great. Varric's dialogue with Cassandra was very entertaining. But with respect to the gameplay, the setting is bland, the dialogue is uninteresting, there is no emotional connection between Hawke and his/her family, and the combat is repetitive and imo too frequent considering it's just autoattack vs. carbon copy enemies.

I get that you're not impressed, but that was oddly negative. I mean REALLY negative. Did you see ANYTHING you liked even remotely?

To everyone who thinks that the mourning scene was appropriate because hawke's family has been through a lot of death; first their fathers' then their village being butchered. That's just no exuce. There are a lot of people who have been in similar situation even in real life and it is never an easy thing to see death more so of their family.

I would quote examples of my relatives but you people won't believe and it's about religious cleansing which is a touchy subject. It will be enough to say that my maternal grandparents and my aunts escaped death closely as they escaped in a truck filled with fruits from our native place.

Crux of the matter is the whole joy of playing a fantasy game is to feel as real you can in an unreal world. And that moment didn't feel real at all. Just fake like Cassandra's hard ass attitude at the begining of the game which blew wide open after she got those mopey eyes a few seconds later. What a bummer.

Sure, but did they bawl they're eyes out as they were running?

Going to bet not. They saved that till after they had gotten free.

You mean like, "think like a general, fight like a spartan"?

"Press a button, something awesome happens"?

"No more shuffling"?
