Eh, I've seen posts on the ME forums even from ManSheps who rate Hale's voicework as being better than Meer's. Regardless, I qualified my statement somewhat with 'significant number', if not the majority. I'd call a fifth of all Sheps quite significant. Where do you get the 20% figure from?
Some BW press release about ME2 stats.
Its still 20% of the people they disconnected. I keep saying that if there was more exposure of her, more girl gamers would be interested in the franchise. I got hooked over a fan trailer, where they replaced M!Shepard with F!Shepard. Otherwise, I would still be uninterested in bioware.
I'm not narrowminded or hateful. I just like playing my own gender.
Yes but 20% isn't a majority and isn't a number you can then try to use to say "FemShep sounds better than Meer." frankly I'm female and I can't stand FemShep.
Though I would prefer more exposure of her I'm just baffled where this "She's so much better than Meer!" attitude comes from.
Fair enough. Though I never categorically stated anything as 'fact', and, again, I qualified my initial statement somewhat. I certainly never ridiculed Meer, nor did I say that I personally thought he was crap or anything (because I didn't, even though I preferred Hale), don't really understand that mentality at all. Just diff'rent strokes and all that. That more people generally seemed to prefer Hale was an impression I got from the bioboards at the time ME was released and subsequently, and like I said even from those who played Male Shepards, so belong to this 80% majority (though obviously not including yourself). Plus when even a fairly major gaming mag like PC Gamer starts saying they'd like to see more of FemShep rather than MaleShep, I figured it was an argument not totally without merit.
Meh, it hardly matters anyway. My overall point was meant to agree that it was a shame that Bio didn't make more of an effort to give FemShep some press coverage - I have at least one female friend who had no idea she could play as a female character in ME until I told her. She has, however, already discovered independently that she can play as LadyHawke.
I'm just really, really glad that Bio seems, from the demo, to have made an effort with LadyHawke - she doesn't walk (or sit) like a man, her default appearance is very striking and she's had more exposure, even though at least some of that has been 'unofficial'. A definite improvement in their marketing strategy towards female gamers and those guys who like playing as female characters.
Loved the demo overall. Think I'm going to need a sedative to help me through the next couple of weeks. Anyone got any Night Nurse? x
