I was actually fairly impressed when comparing the 3/5 vid and the 1/2 and 2/2 vids. I thought good, evil, or snark (Positive or negative if you like) would just effect the dialogue itself. However Hawke acted quite different, in his/her comment after the dialogue as well. I know they talked about tone, but I hadn't seen it in game yet, or heard it confirmed. I like it myself. I'm sure there will be instances, like snarky evil, where it won't quite balance, but I'm glad Angry/Agressive Hawke acts the same outside of dialogue as he does inside it. Rather then just reacting inside dialogue.

I think the emotion in that scene came off really well myself.

The attacks are unrealistically fast. They went from too slow to way too fast. It looks like everyone is on cocaine.

I'm still a bit disappointed in Hawke's deadpan face during both Carver and Wesley's death.. She looks like a tranquil

The combat looked fun though.. so I guess that's something.

Except Hawke suddenly cared, now that the danger had passed, more about dealing with Wesley rather than her brother who had been deceased for all of 3 minutes, if that..

The emotional content and execution of these opening scenes just feel hollow and confused, to me anyway..

Well although I think Carver will just be less sensitive to things, Lady Hawke was choosing kinder responses versus the more aggressive responses that male Hawke was choosing.

I do like though that there is a difference in their reactions but I'll have to choose different responses and see if Carver acts like that in that situation no matter what tone you use~

Keep in mind that this is Varric telling a story based on second hand knowledge. Unlike the rest of the game, he wasn't there. He knows what happened but can't exactly describe it in detail.

It SURVIVES!

But in other news, FemHawke looks real good there. Again, LOVE the focus on Hawke's eyes compared to the Warden's.

You do it. I couldn't even if I wanted to as I've got DAO on the 360 and don't have a PC(I'm on Mac).

I'm getting kind of tired of that old gem.. It's a shallow excuse for bad writing and poorly executed emotional scenes..  "Varric said it" is as bad as "god did it" to me..

I did thought that the emotion was off. Not of Lady Hawke, because I see no point in asking 'what she is feeling?'. She is my character, I decide what she's feeling, even if she doesn't express it.

Now, Mama Hawke didn't looked sad enough, but there are occasions when people feel way more sad than they look/sound, so I'll give her that.

By the way, for some reason, looking at OctoberFire's current avatar gives me FFXIII vibes.

Maybe its the shape of her face, the expression, I DON'T KNOW. Gah.

EDIT- And now I don't see it. Yay!

I do happen to agree with you that it is overused, but I am looking past it since he hadn't met Hawke yet. If the level of character emotion doesn't increase AFTER having met Varric, I will be quite worried.

It's a storyteller's job to infuse the tale with drama and emotion, so this is still a rubbish excuse and makes absolutely no sense if Varric is in fact the legendary tale-weaver we're told to expect.

Yes. The emotions were bad, shallow and all that and didn't manage to penetrate through my hard, manly shell of anti-emotions whatsover.

LA Noire has already proven you can do life-like facial expressions in a game.

Flemeth looks gloriously wicked. Love her, and her sly smiles.
