No, I beat DA:O on Normal. Try even easier. I wish I was kidding :?

I beat it, too. And you know what? Never had to pause. Ever. Not once.

Besides that you have no idea what the difficulty spike is. Normal is meant for player character optimization. Hard and Nightmare are for party optimization. You wouldn't need to pause.

And it's not really dumbed down, it plays a lot like DA:O, but has awful, stupid animations, certain characters glide around when they run, hawke on "shet moutain" as it's so aptly named for being capital of all that is Brown in the demo, tends to wiggle a bit when running, like the animation is off center to the ground.

That's nice. Everyone else previewing it seems to like it. Maybe you won't. Oh well.

The demo on normal is really easy. You might as well take the pause button right out.

Also Bioware: Varric and Aveline ice skate around when they run, it's really stupid. Please patch this when the game releases, thanks in advance.

Oh, you mean...exactly like DAO on Normal?

God, how they've dumbed it down.

In my experience no-one who considered themselves good at this sort of game found DAO difficult on Normal short of certain fights where the difficulty went a bit wonky, conversely a fair few inexperienced gamers found it too hard from what I've read. All this sounds like to me is encouraging those players who are comfortable with the DA set up to play on Hard and above, while new players and other less RPG/tactical RPG experienced types get an easier time of it on the base difficulty setting.

If it was super easy on Hard I might be worried, but I really don't see that happening. From everything we've seen it would be folly at this point to conclude that pause and play won't be needed for the higher difficulty levels - certainly when it comes to the fights that matter.

Edit: Formatting.

The only time I paused was on boss fights cause I like micromanging stupid party members that even tactics wouldn't fix.

I didn't say that but yes, that's what I'm saying. I'm also saying that it's unfortunately even easier than before, which spurs me to crank this up to nightmare for DA2.

Always be wary of the wee folk. They tend to have a lot of bottled up rage inside. ;p

I still like Carver. Bethany has a predictable reaction. Maybe she'll be a predictable character. Carver might surprise me.

I'm gonna be completely honest, I played DA:O on the easiest setting on my first playthrough and my party members and I died occasionally. I did use the pause feature, and I took advantage of no FF by using tempest/inferno from time to time, but even then I died a few times on boss battles. For all the people complaining about how DA2 is dumbed down, you need to consider the fact that the forums is biased because in general, only hardcore gamers frequent them. So yes, maybe for some the game will be too easy, but for the majority of softcore gamers suck as myself, I find this quicker, more fluent style inviting.

Yes?

The marketing for this game is awful and for a long time I thought it was going to be dynasty warriors garbage. however having had played it a bit and found it to be more like DA:O than any pictures or videos could ever display properly (and because bioware themselves barely started showing anything whatsoever until the last few weeks).

However now I'm rather ambivalent since it was such a small snippet of the game. I still don't like all the retcons they did, or some of the art style, or the fact that examples they've posted of kirkwall, which is a bustling city and where you spend the entire game practically (according to PCG UK) you'd think they'd try to look a bit more like a city and less like a bunch of cooridors with a few vendors.

Overall, from the little I played I'd say it's pretty much DA:O with ME2 stylings. Which isn't bad...but weird.

There's no shame in that! Or at least, I hope there isn't, because I did exactly the same thing. ;)

Edit 'cause not all my letters made it in the first time around. It happens.

.You don't know what a retcon is or are greatly exagerating what they did, I can only think of one thing that can be a considered a retcon at this point.

A changing of art style is not a retcon.

-Flemeth is now a weird hair horned creature, instead of an old bag lady (somehow in the span of a few in-game months) before she dies in DA:O
-qunari race was retconned to demonsto make them look ~evil~

that's what I've taken from them

'Tense'. I suppose that in the context it could be 'awkward'.
