Neithier of those Changes are retcons, They're Art style changes. And both can easily be explained
for instance:
-Flemmeth is s Shapeshifter, THUS THE HORNS.
-You only saw three Qunari, Maybe they were just a diffrent type of Qunari
People need to stop using this word "retcon".

Not to defend the grouchy Dwarf, but you see a heck of a lot more than three Qunari. I know I must have killed off enough of them to de-populate a few villages. 

Of course we can explain it as only looser non-demonic looking Qunari desert/fail missions, so they're the only ones you see in DA:O. :P

Is there anything about the demo you like? The voices? The sound? The changes? The battle? The fights? the characters? The snazzy sound effects? The improvements to graphics? The PC? Varric? Cassandra? Epic fighting?

This statement i do not completley understand, but i'll respond anyways

1.They have a diffrent art style, And/or maybe not all qunarai are the same. You saw 7 at best that's hardly a good interpretation of their entire race.

2.Not an exscuse, it's simply what happend. and even without that reasoning it's still not a retconn because art style change=/=retcon.

ya there was 1 in there and 2 in lily's quest
Thats the only ones i remember fighting.

Due to the random number generator, I suppose it's possible you managed to play through the game seeing only three Qunari, but I slaughtered enough Qunari Mercenaries to get me to start wondering how bad their homeland must be for so many of them to have deserted and become mercenaries in the first place. ;p

Okay:

I like the Spell effects. I like the fact that warrior's AoE taunt seems a little bit better, and maybe there are better AoE taunts for warriors in unlocked trees, but currently it's not enough since it's really easy for your mage or whoever to pull threat. I like that 2h seems more viable of a build, but there needs to be some more AoE abilities. Maybe they're locked away? I don't know, but I'd sure like a whirlwind ability that lasts a few seconds. I don't like that doing a channeled spell locks your mage in place. You can't move, you can't cancel it, which makes you a sitting duck for that ogre you just aggrod. Oops.

I like the male hawke over the female hawke. I'm male. The female hawke's voice sounds too high pitched and "prim and proper". She's not really comparable to the femaleshepard in this regard who some would argue is better than maleshep. Male Hawke sounds gruff and tough. Female Hawke sounds like shes a little too young. This is in comparison to their models.

Sound/music seemed exactly the same as it did from DA:O. Mostly forgetable but with a few good moments. Weapon and other sound effects are mostly good but Aveline's sword and board stabbing sound is grating since that's typically the same sound and animation she'll do till the end of time.

Battle was pretty simple, moving around with KB/M made things pretty easy to hotkey a spell or ability and move while still having the casted ability (such as dropping a fireball) out. I felt it was a little too picky about where you chose to throw it, the game prefering it had a target sometimes instead of letting you throw it in exactly the pixel you wished to put it. Is it an improvement over DA:O? Yes. Is there shuffling? I saw an enemy do it a few times, but your characters not really. if you use the WSAD you can strafe and stay locked on to a target but you move really really slowly. It's better to right click to positon then use wsad to move instead of doing this.

Graphics, being locked at normal as they were, are inconsistent. Mostly they look pretty good, but other times it's like they forgot to have higher resolution textures on say Aveline's husband's kilt, which is blocky. I hear they're going to release a patch for HD textures later on, but I only have hearsay on that matter. For the most part, it ran 60fps (capped) at the highest settings the demo would allow, except in certain cutscenes.

PC seemed fine, though I don't agree with the choice to make him voiced. I don't feel particularly anything to any of the characters other than Varric, who acts like a douche sometimes but a charming, smart one. I kind of like him, and I like his voice actor and his body language. This, was implemented well I thought.

I'm not sure who cassandra is. Is that your sister? She died as a Mage. Kind of offput because I was using her as a healer once I got the skillpoints, whereas It might have been better to take one point of healing for myself as a mage instead.

Epic fighting? Maybe to the end before Flemith rescues you because I thought I'd have a challenge on my hand. Then she shows up and kills them all for me :?

Anyways, that's about all I can remember or of note w/r/t what you asked. I tried to stay as neutral as possible.

The demo actually has a timeskip.



After you meet flemith it skips forward to after you've met isabella and varric and you literally jump headfirst into more combat. You're even given some new armor auto equipped and mage defaults to having entropy spells. Then you run down a corridor for a minor trash fight, then run up a set of stairs for a minor conversation and a boss fight. Demo ends.

Thank you for the screencaps today, Saibh. They're all glorious. :D How did you spot the Carver face anyway? I mean I went back and rewatched to see it myself, and I dunno how anyone could've spotted that unless they were looking for it. :lol:

Lovely how the enemies didn't get the "Spartan" upgrade. They still attack as slow as in DA:O with the same animations. The boss stands still not moving an inch and attacking in slow mo while the party is hopped up on cocaine, swinging non-stop without an ounce of realism.



The hack and slash sounds of the sword become tremendously irritating after a couple minutes.
