I'm in the second part of Cloakwood and just cleared out that spider infestation inside that sort of cave thing.
I try to take Chelak's body but no one in my party can carry him because he's too heavy. So I left and talked to his brother and he says that I haven't found anything yet.
I tried going back to get Minsc and I came back but his body was gone. When I talked to the brother he says the same thing.
I left Minsc and Dynaheir all the way back in the Gnoll Stronghold so it took some time to get there and back, and I'm guessing it's the time lapse that made the body disappear.
Is there anyway to get the body to come back or some way to complete this quest? Please help!

I do believe even quest items will disappear (get nicked or degrade) if left on the ground for too long. I don't know the actual rate but it's probably at least 24 hrs, at most 48. If you can find the number of the body in a cheat list you can open the CLUAConsole to create the body again. Someone else may help with that (not sure myself), but you can definitely find that online. Keep in mind though that if you didn't want the body to disappear, you could have just left it in the web "container" where you found it. Items can remain in containers forever, even those right on the street, I believe, while an item left on the ground in some remote cave somewhere will be gone within a day or two.

Okay thanks, I also tried going back to High Hedge to get some strength potions but that took too long as well. Maybe I can put it back in the container, I'll try that. If it fails I suppose I'll have to look for that cheat list number.

Keep in mind that once you've cleared that area, you don't have to worry about attackers, so you can drop pretty much everything, even heavy armor, and that'll make carrying the body easier. STR potions or spells can also do the trick, of course...

Haha, I finished the quest finally.

Apparently I could put his body back into the container, which gave me plenty of time to go back to High Hedge to get a Strength scroll. Luckily it worked well enough that my character was able to carry him.

I did have to drop some of my heavy armour though but I didn't run into anything else.

Thanks everyone for your help, I feel way better now and I can finally continue on with the story ^-^

You can wound up carrying quite the many corpses in whole BG+TotSC.
