And she'll have grown out some hair by then
She has the best character design I've seen in any game

Wait, if she has the best character design, why would you put hair on it?

I wouldn't, but it probably will happen:? maybe it will depend on if you've made her go renegade or paragon?:bandit:

The only way I can see Jack growing hair is if she just didn't care enough to shave. And I really don't want any changes forced on her just because some people want her to be more like a normal girl.

Anyway, as an LI, she's guaranteed at least a cameo. I'm pulling for squaddie.

Somehow I don't think Bioware expected people to save as many of the henchies as they did in the game.

Maybe, but not that much. They were meant as expandable, and even if 900% of everyone saves every squad mate, another 10% can leave everyone dead and you're stuck with a broken ME3. She can't be important if she can be dead.

^ No but that would be easily rectified by having the entire squad survive (or have that as an option) if starting a new file in ME 3/(inbeforeanotherargumentaboutME3squadmates).

But anyway, seeing as she's a potential LI, it's pretty obvious she'll play a role in the new game, as long as she survived in your file.

I don't understand. What happens if you bring in a save where everyone died? They resurrect? They can't make her important because she can die, and you can bring in a save where she is dead. Simple. Bioware told us this. They told us Ashley/Kaiden and Liara weren't in your squad because they are important characters and it would be too complicated if they could die.

Ashley/Kaiden didn't play important roles in ME2. Plus, that means nothing. I don't see how a character being an LI in one game makes them available in the other. They could send you a couple of emails to remind you they exist anyway.

That would be a consequence of your actions from ME 2; instead of all these "payoffs" being emails and an extra line of diolouge somewhere.  Nobody would miss out on the content either if she was available in one of the starting files.

Also did Bioware really say that?  Because that's... disappointing, if true.  So much for anyone in ME 2 meaning anything then, including fan favorites like Garrus or Tali...

That would be a pretty underwhelming way to finish off a relationship in the finale.

Well since every squadmate you have had in both games has the possibility of being dead at the end of ME2 (except Liara, who as we know is likely already occupied for ME3) than by that logic no former squadmate can have an important part in ME3, let alone be a squadmate. It's also very unlikely that the ME3 squad will be made up entirely of all-new characters as players would get really pissed.

You can't have a save game where EVERYONE dies because that means Shepard would die and then your game would not import.  I think the least squadmates that you can have survive while still having Shepard survive is two.

Everyone will loudly remind everyone else about the times they were right while conviently forgetting all the times they were wrong.

CaseyH-ME2: Yes, it's definitely difficult to continue the
fiction when we allow major characters to be **bleep**ed off by player
actions. But, that's part of the fun, and the impact of major
consequences. One reason that the love interests were not recruitable in
ME2 (but are still part of the story) is that they need to be around
for the ongoing story in ME3.

Yeah, but everyone can die. I think 2 has to survive if I remember correctly. 2 out of 12 isn't enough to make every character have a big role in ME3. If 7 out of 12 have to survive I'd agree, but I don't think Bioware will bother making everyone appearable in a significant way. If anything, they will focus on Garrus and Tali, which I think they will since they are important since the first game, but you don't need to have any LI too. And your LI can die. So your ME2 LI sending you mails in ME3 wouldn't be that cheap considering all the different outcomes there can be with all LIs throughout the series. Your LI can die in ME1 too - although it is unlikely. But my point is, there's no reason Bioware couldn't come up with a reason for them to not be usable.

EDIT: Exploring the same link, I also found this:

"CaseyH-ME2: We actually want to make sure these characters survive the
ME2 story, which ultimately is a suicide mission: some of your crew will
almost certainly die. Some of the ME1 characters are back, and
recruitable (more than you might think), and the ones that aren't still
play an important role in the story and will be around for ME3 - which
we can't say for the new characters.

CaseyH-ME2: Another
important thing to consider is that much of the fun of ME1 was the
discovery of new people and places. If we made ME2 out of the same
characters, you'd miss out of the fun of that discovery."

Weird. In one playthrough I got lazy and survived the fatal jump with Miranda alone. She was loyal. My other member was Legion, who wasn't loyal. I think you can do it with only 1 surviving squadmember.

I would love to see more of Jack, and it would be cool if her hair has grown out a little. Not long, but like a pixie cut. Something like this: link

I like her hair the way it is, it would just be cool from a character progression standpoint.
