A choice between saving the Citadel and saving Earth.

The citadel is the hub of the relay network, that means that if shepard let the citadel fall to the reapers to save earth, the reapers will have control of all the relays and cut all the races and sytems from each other, vigil explained this on mass effect 1, which means that if the geth wanted to back up the humans they couldnt cause the only way is through the relays which have been cut off and the reapers will only activate one by one or a few as they rush in to destroy us slowly. no race have invented new rellays from what I know, so letting the citadel fall is the worst decision, we will all be on our own and FTL drive isnt enough, it would take years to recieve back up without the relays.

It does? I thought the different relays linked to other systems without the Citadel. Do they all go through the Citadel relay?

play mass effect 1 and talk to vigil, you will understand, in short:should the reapers get the citadel, then all the other relays will lose power once they got control.

1. Kill the Reapers

2. Kill the Council except Anderson

3. Kill TIM

(Oh, and I am a PARAGON! Shepard!!!)

4. Peace between geth and quarian

5. Cure krogan genophage

6. Rebuild the Council with all the rejected races: quarian, volus, etc. + geth, somekind of Interstellar Alliance

7. A bunch of blue children :)

8. Ashley/Kaiden and Garrus as Spectres

9. A seat in the Council, because Shepard is much more wiser than the actual turian-asari-salarian members; Anderson should resign because he doesn't love this job, but keep him as a personal advisor and the voice of conscience; fire out Udina

10. Rebuilding Cerberus as a loyal black ops service like salarian special tasks group

Hmm To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

....do Reapers even have women... Oh well just to see the reapers dead and be there to dance on the funeral pyre of the ashes they leave.

Earth is a wasteland, heavy HEAVY losses within all races, some would would even be wiped out... A near tragic ending that looks almost bleak and hopeless, the galaxy being mortally wounded but still has a chance of surviving, all of your squadmates are dead with your love interest as a possible exception, and finally the Reapers are nothing but debri; scattered amongst the planets and cosmos.

If male, I can picture shepard with half of his suit ripped off while carrying his love interest in his arms... he's all beaten, bloody, and bruised and wander aimlessly in despair on a blasted Earth until refugee ships come to take him and his LI. If shep were female, the opposite would be happening; her being carried away by the LI, lol.

I can also see the citadel being destroyed completely. Or the mass effect relays just stop working, and all of the races would have to find some other means as travel... distanced and alienated from each other for a long time.

1. Shepard and Garrus live happily ever after (and Jack, Jacob, Thane, Legion, Tali, and Mordin all have happy endings. Indifferent to the endings for the rest of the ME2 squaddies. Would prefer something like a happy ending for Kaidan/Ashley, but not fervently wishing for it).

2. Discover the origin of the Reapers. Stop them, naturally.

3. Liara dies a horrible death.

My dream ending?

Everyone dies the most brutal and horrific death imaginable....especially Tali. Would be nice to see her suffer and the Reapers win.

D: D: D:

So many want such a sad ending. T_T. Do. Not. Want.
I don't want the Reapers to win. Shepard and company have to triumph somehow/someway. Sure, there could be losses, but not everybody. That being said in my perfect Pollyanna ending:

1. Shepard doesn't die. No bringing her back from the dead just to kill her off again. I would be depressed for weeks. *tears*
2. Shepard continues on Spectreing and helping the helpless or threatening the helpless and thereby helping the helpless.
3. Shepard gets to be with their love interest. In my case: one ends up with blue chil'rens and Liara, another ends up with Kaidan and another ends up with Joker..*coughspleasepleasepleaseBioware* :D
4. Quarians get to go home and attempt to work in peace with the Geth. I don't know how long it would last though...
5. Spill some drinks on the Citadel with Jacob, Wrex and Garrus. Wut. ^_^
6. Shepard gets to show that Turian councillor what it means to really use air quotes.
7. Become homies with a Hanar and learn a soul name, and see some of the Elcor Hamlet.
EDIT: Too much spacing...looked creepy

This.

That spaceship is Cerberus newest multibillion project prototype. But stealing spaceships is just bad habit, nothing personal TIM :innocent:

I'd like to see Shepard stop the Reapers by aiming a Pistol at something, making a quip and then firing (causing the Reapers to die or otherwise stop being a threat, bonus points if it's actually a Reaper being shot).  A talking the enemy to death option could be cool but probably unpopular (especially if it relies on an all Paragon or all Renegade playthrough), it should just be an alternative option though and not choosing it shouldn't mean you get a worse ending.

They could have a bad ending available like in ME2 but I doubt I'd pursue it, I want all of my Shepards to "win" in their own way.  I can't really see Shepard taking over, even a Renegade Shepard would say something along the lines of "I still have work to do" (you get to say something along those lines at the end of ME1, except just about taking out the Reapers) and go on protecting the galaxy from any threats.  I've always thought the games are about being big damn heroes so anything trying to be "dark" and "edgy" would just come off as cheap for me.  A heroic sacrifice is possible but I'm not really sure it'd be as good as either riding off into the sunset or moving on to the next job so I hope that Shepard does live.

It would be good to have a "state of the galaxy" type epilogue, giving some information on how things are at the end for each of the races, squadmates and Shepard and their love interest (if they have one).  I'm hoping there will be more games in the ME universe and I don't really mind if there's a canon ending that is different from what I had.  After all, I'll have several endings through different playthroughs anyway.

LOL very dramatic ending bit to be honest sounds like a wonderful ending, though it suits more to a renegade shepard or a shepard who did the worst choices or something.

- Happy ending for Miranda and Shepard
- Possibility to save what remains of humanity and of the other races
- Cerberus destroyed or replaced
- Reapers threat eliminated (but not necessarily destroyed, or definitely gone)

The ending comes after some real daring assault on the last remaining Reapers. By then we've found ways to weaken them and manage attacking multiple Reapers at a time. Nonetheless they are still formiddable enemies, and the galaxy has been ravaged with remaining resources stretched thin, left almost bare (Shepard's planet-scanning tendencies haven't helped).

We don't get another chance at this, this one's for all the marbles.

If lost, a cutscene showing the Reapers harvesting the rest of the galaxy and taking a dead Shepard away to serve as a repurposed super-solider. Lolz.

If won .................... *warning: HYR has gone into story-writing mode*

Raas Shepard looks up, sees a sky marred with smoke. Everything looks, and smells, like war and death. He expected as much. It's a scene that would never rationally invoke any kind of happiness. But it does when the greatest known threat to the galaxy has been destroyed, and when the worst nightmare imaginable is finally over.

Emerging from the distance is his old best buddy Wrex. "Damn shame, Shepard," he says while awkwardly shifting through the debris, "we won't ever hunt game like this again. Should've known, your missions ALWAYS end with a bang!" Shepard smiled, good ole Wrex.

Time to pick up the pieces, starting first with the Citadel and... hah yes, "the Council." While there, Udina suggests that the galaxy's leaders make a televised public address to the the galaxy, and they all agree its a good idea. After the Turian, Salarian, Asari and Human Councilors have all made their speeches, Shepard gets his turn. He is, after all, the big guddam hero of it all.

He gets up on the podium, looks the galaxy in the eye through the camera with great sense of conviction and says: "I should go." He then turns around and leaves for the Normandy. Turian Councilor is not amused.

He takes the elevator to Level 4 and down the staircase for his sexy little treat, Jack.

"Nice speech..... idiot."

My dream ending:

- Reapers completely destroyed, or at least rendered impotent, and true origins and purpose of Reapers revealed.
- Krogan and salarians make peace: either genophage cured and Krogan sensible enough not to go to war, or Krogan simply get over it and live with the genophage.
- Quarians and Geth coexist in peace, Quarians return to the homeworld, bioengineer to get rid of their suits.
- Cerberus either completely destroyed, or ILM deposed and new leadership set up to take Cerberus in a less xenophobic direction
- Earth sacrificed for greater good (NOT "humanity" sacrificed; just the planet Earth), humanity decentralized to their various colony worlds. (Galaxy will respect humanity now because of greatest sacrifice)

Would love it if there's an 'open-ended' option for some of the 'happier' endings.

In the same way as with ME2 letting you roam around the galaxy, hang out with your L.I. in your quarters, visit Liara and Feron, pop into the hub worlds, etc. - it'd be ace to be able to do more of that in the end of ME3. Possible with some more functionality, too - how cool would it be to be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the ME universe after all the cosmic brouhaha wrought by the Reapers?
