9 -I don't like Cerberus, but they should have some role to play.
13 - I like Elcor but we don't need one on our team. Maybe one can be the new weapons seller like in ME1.
14- Jennifer Hale rocks, but I disagree with the general point made: "Unless you want to have lips thicker than your wrists and talk like a sportscaster, you play as a female Commander Shepard in Mass Effect." Or how about you are a guy who wants to play as "You"? They should either have both Shepard's on the box or neither.
15 - Do I really need to explain why...

First, bashing Mark Meer and Male Shepard was screwed up. Mark Meer's voice acting is awesome, I don't care what anyone says. And you can customize Shepard, so their comments about his appearance are irrelevant. The fact that they posted a SS of a custom femshep is extra hypocritical in this regard.
To be clear, Female Shepard and Jennifer Hale are awesome, and people are welcome to that opinion. What ticked me off is that they basically stated that their opinion was superior, and that people like me are inferior somehow, because we're comfortable playing a PC that's the same gender as we are.
Now they can give me their employee discount, but they still hurt my feelings...
The other thing that ticked me off was their suggestion that all LI's be bi out of principle. I get the feeling after reading that whole article that they just want to watch Tali and femshep make out, since they're obviously big fans of the two of them. To be clear, I have no problem with anyone's sexual orientation, but for ME characters, that orientation had better make sense, and it had better stay consistent. For example, what if Thane suddenly turned bi? How would that make sense? He was married to, and had a child with a woman. But I doubt they were thinking about that, because see: 2nd sentence of this paragraph.
The fact that they basically said: 'these characters aren't masterpieces, so do it,' begs the question: Why do you care what orientation they are then, or even about romancing them at all? You don't go and start changing character's sexual orientation to make fans happy. While we're at it, why don't we make Wrex a softie LI, and a squadmate with rapid fire nuke launchers... because I dunno, that'd make some people happy?
I hate it when people bash the writing in these games, most of the time they sound like a bitter hipster.
Anyway, if BW wanted to write new characters/squadmates that could open up new same-sex relationships in ME3, I'd be fine with it. I'd just be ticked if they screwed with pre-existing characters for the sake of fanservice.
There were other things I wanted to say in regards to weapons and ammo and whatnot, but BW knows what they're doing and they probably have all that figured out by now, so my page-long opinions on the general boards won't accomplish anything.
So in closing, I'll just say that Soldiers have Adrenaline Rush, and it's pretty devastating

Number 15 i'm in 2 minds about, I would like to see what she looks like, but it's pretty much guaranteed that she won't look like I expect her to.

Wow...the Character - Fate chart makes the whole Liara-thing even more obvious and painful.
LIara is a fan favorite.
However, the chart is wrong.
If you save Kaidan, he always lives, and vice versa for Ashely. One or the other dies, not both.
So you're guaranteed to have Liara + ME1 Squaddie in ME3, not just Liara.
Outside of that, the author seems to forget that Shepard can die in ME2, which makes it more interesting.
Anyways, I agree with most of the list... but the whole thing sounded like a forum-post here instead of an actual article. While there was a brief paragraph of backup "evidence," I would've loved to have read more of what went into the actual decisions.

I'm sure, anyone who seriously thinks so is in for a big surprize in ME3. Liara is an asset BioWare simply won't be able to pass up, as far as the "returning squaddies" are concerned.Terror_K wrote...
No, but... well... let's just say events in LotSB would seem to strongly indicate that she wouldn't be a squaddie again in ME3.Bann Duncan wrote...

As to the article itself, I loved points ## 2 & 8. Among others there are those I agree with and some I disagree, and think the author is either being opinionated, or not serious.

Point 15 invalidates the entire list. The author assume everyone has the hots for a faceless bunch of pixelated hips.
Sure, I like Tali, but no more than I like Liara, Miranda, Jack, Wrex, Garrus or any of the other bunches of pixels that are on my screen.
This notion you and others propagate is bullcrap... the whole "hots for a bunch of pixelated women" / etc. You know why it's bullcrap? Because humans FANTASIZE ... we do it every bloody damn day pretty much... we do it in our dreams.
Ever read a fiction novel? Ever find a character you thought was really cool / inspiring / interesting or hell, was a type of person you dreamed you could be? What about a written character that had personality traits you would find appealing or ideal in a lover? Are you telling me you couldn't FANTASIZE about that? You can't fantasize being a super hero? A cyborg? A knight in shining armor? A villain who takes over the world?
I'm sure you can.... so why can't you fantasize about a love interest? Fantasizing over a written character, by your logic, is like "oh man it's so stupid and lame to fantasize over that stupid stuff written on sheets of paper!" .... Be it pixels, or paper or a concept not expressed on a physical form, humans fantasize all the goddamn time... it's escapism.
Your statement is complete bull**** because you're saying you could never read a novel and CARE about a fictional character... to be invested in it or have some degree of emotional attachment to it (be it hatred, anger, disgust, love, appreciation, etc).
If you can feel something about a fiction character in a book, tv show, movie... then you can do so in a video game as well... and if you can't for any of those things, then you're a very odd and anomalous human being, so... yay for you?

While I don't think you should be forced to work with Cerberus, just not having them at all would be pretty ridiculous.
Actually I don't really care about femShep being on the box or not, but I thought just a black box with the Mass Effect 3 title on it and maybe a reaper would look the best.
Tali's face being shown or not is pretty much arguable either way: hell I change my opinion on it a lot so for now I'd say just not show it.
What's with the hate for an Elcor teammate? I think having a sarcastic badass Elcor on your squad would be hilarious: think Han Solo... but as an Elcor. It might not be feasible though.
Although I'd LOVE for all or almost all of your squad to return, I don't see Wrex coming back as he is already set to lead the krogan into battle with you, so he not returning to your squad would be understandable. He definitely needs to be in more then one scene though.
And actually I didn't mind the romances in ME2: I thought Jack's, Tali's, and Thane's were somewhat deep whereas Miranda's, Jacob's, and Garrus's were all pretty shallow. Hit or miss... but that was the same with the first game too: Ashley had a good romance, but Liara's felt forced and emotionless to me, and although I never tried it I can't see Kaidan's being any good since he has the personality of a mop.

Seriously. Out of all the different 'factions' and stances regarding squadmates, RPG-or-not-RPG, mechanics, Paragon/Renegade partiality.. I think everyone who's played LotSB can concur that the likelihood of Liara's return is pretty much non-existant in terms of a squaddie.

I believe we're having a misunderstanding here. I say, Liara is going to be a full-time companion in ME3, and one of the first to be acquired as the story unfolds, with probability of 100%.Gleym wrote...

This is like the worst thing to be said. I mean, ME had 4 weapons. AR, Pistol, Shotgun and SR. That's it. You had a lot of variations that changed absolotely nothing. The weapon worked the same.
.
ME2 has one of the best weapon arsenal in gaming. Pretty much every weapon you want you have if you consider all DLCs.
