After Shandra gets kidnapped, I chase the Githyanki with Bishop, Eleanee and Qara.
 
In Ember we get ambushed; I kill the Gith; and then… nothing.
 
This is the second time I’ve played the game.  The first time a townslady came out to speak with me and then I had a conversation with Marcus. Today nobody shows up. 
 
Is there a way to force the conversation to start?

How far back is your last save? Clearly some trigger didn't fire after the fight. It happens.

Sorry, I don't know of a console command to fix this.

i suspect you're getting pre-destroyed and post-destroyed Ember confused - a cursory look indicates Alaine and Marcus don't show up until Act II, after so-and-so burns the place to the ground.


I could be wrong (as always) - perhaps take a glance at a good nwn2 walkthrough

What does the last entry in your journal say, under Chasing Shandra?

That scene is very tricky. I think if you're too far from Bishop it fails. I usually restrict myself to missiles/spells - and DON'T let anyone cast any kind of Fear.

@Quixal - The last save is entering Ember for the first time, before anyone has moved. The previous save is - entering Neverwinter Archives.

I have no workaround yet. I tried to use the toolset on a copy of the area file but I do not know too much about the toolset or the scripts. The most promising scripts "16_setup_cs3" and "16_bishop_em" give an error when I try to run them in the DebugMode console. I think something has to be set first.

@I_raps I tried playing through the ambush again, keeping close to Bishop. I get the same result.



I would like to thank everyone for their help and suggestions. If I cannot find a workaround I may try deleting/re-installing the game and see if that works...

rs ga_start_convo("bishop", "16_bishop_emb", 0, 0, 1, 0)


if that don't work, i've got more ..

ps. you might have to capitalize "Bishop".

I tried capitals first; the console said the script worked successfully but nothing happened.



Using lower case worked! Bishop started talking; Gith reinforcements came; after the Githyankis were dead Alaine came out and talked to me; Marcus appeared near the world exit; and the world exit worked this time. My adventure continues!

I've got the same issue, however I do not understand the solution that jvan used, stated by kevL.

If someone could simplify it for me, I'd appreciate it. It's a great game, and I don't want to have to give it up.
