I used to have NWN2, MotB, & SOZ installed on this machine, but I had to replace my hard drive, so I had to reinstall everything. NWN2 & MotB installed no problem, but my DVD drive refuses to read the SOZ DVD.
No matter what I've tried, I can't get it to read the DVD to install the expac. I understand this is caused by SecureROM, that it's a fairly common issue, & that nobody seems to have any idea how to solve it besides DL'ing a pirated copy & using Daemon Tools to install it. Which I don't want to do, & which I shouldn't have to do, since I've got a completely legit copy of SOZ, that has even been registered.
I really don't care about SOZ itself .... but it seems that lots of player mods require it, particularly Kaedrin's PRC pack. If anyone has suggestions for how I can fix this -- I even tried uninstalling & reinstalling using Selene Moonsong's method, described in the "Self Help Starts Here" thread, but no luck.
As an aside: no, I don't have a CD-R, or even CD-R software. I'm even trying to re-install using the exact same DVD I used to originally install it when I first got the expac, so I'm pretty darn frustrated, & even more so if there's nothing that can be done.
Thanx, in advance.

BTW, just to forestall the question, I reiterate: the last thing I did was to uninstall NWN2 entirely, then re-install it using the method described by Selene Moonsong. I currentlty have NWN2 & MotB installed, but not updated. But putting the disc for SOZ into the DVD caused the DVD to spin for a couple minutes, flash its green light, & then stop, & there I sit.

Perhaps you have a bad disc?

If so, it's difficult to see how it's bad ... the disc was perfectly fine when I first got it, & has sat inside its jewel case ever since. It's totally clean, streak-&-scratch-free, & so on.
I've had DVDs in far worse condition read just fine, so I don't think that's the issue at all.

Well, after doing everything I could to avoid the illegitimate option, I finally relented & bit-torrented a SOZ file, which I then installed via Daemon Tools.
I think it's utterly ludicrous that I had to go to this length with a completely legitimate & registered product, but there you go.
