But projected sales figures look poor,so please give our employers a false sense of security that we got it right and this iteration is extremely popular amongst hardcore RPG fans.
For this ...we will reward you with two items whilst shortening game length (don't worry the rest of the content is available as DLC ) and we will nolonger be allowing you any longevity because we will be retaining modtools (again don't worry we have DLC for you).
We'll even make an effort to protect against piracy by forcing on you the inconvenience of having to repeatedly log into your EA account, as you won't be able to play your game without an internet connection ever again. It isn't personal , we just hold this misguided opinion that ALL PC gamers are filthy little pirates ...and we'll treat you according to that stereotype.
There was me thinking Bioware nolonger needed PC support.....ironic.
Of course in todays economic climate ,it would have been nice to have been offered a real incentive.Say + 1 million demo downloads and we will give $2 from every retail purchase to childrens charities.
Thus dampening somewhat the customers illfeeling towards the corporate greed of big publishers.

It's insanely clever.....maybe it will catch on and Peter Jacksons sequel to the Hobbit can be a remake of Beastmaster. After all who cares about story continuity....it will still be called the Hobbit 2

And that's why we will never see that happen in todays economy-driven world.

I have no idea what you're talking about. But I do know that you're certainly not speaking for me.philbo1965uk wrote...
Yes yes...go and download and then buy something you have no real interest in.
My interest in DA2 is... Huge. Off the scale, in fact. So someone asking me to download a free demo of a game I've been extremely looking forward to for the better part of a year.... well, that's a no brainer. I'll do it. Asking me to spread the word is also a no brainer, even if we were speaking financially. I consider this demo as ample payment for my services.

Besides if someone likes DA2, he/ she is going to download the demo anyway, whether you give these items or not. If you really want to reward the players who love DA2 then just give them these in-game items for playing the demo. Because "If we reach One Million downloads, we will reward players with 2 new in-game item"... well, that's sounds cheap (even though your intentions are may be good).

These two items are just extra gold and extra XP, which I assume won't be that great if it's given at the start of the game. I'm sure, even if you don't disable it, the item itself wouldn't be much of a gamebreaker. It would probably just be nice to have in general, considering you can never have too much money and can't hit the level cap.
Really missing the point here. You are getting something for nothing. Even if you don't play the demo all the way through you are likely to get the items.
Second, gold and XP matter the most at the beginning of the game where the level gaps in XP are smaller. Anything that give you the edge in the early battles is useful.

While I think that the rest of your post is pure troll, this is not a bad idea. There is actually a lot of research and evidence that suggests that these types of incentives are extremely effective on the 20s and teens demographic.

We still love you Bioware. But for a marketing scheme this is pretty lame. You've got to admit that. Even loony troll guy with his charity idea was better.
