we have four days to get 450k~ downloads
I'm pretty sure most people have already downloaded this game and tried the demo, not counting silver members (which is probably another 200k people, easy, and they can't even participate because Bioware is stupid and didn't release it on President's weekend)
It's not going to get to 1million
Granted, 500k+ for a demo is still an extremely good number.
Imagine if you were an indie developer on an A level budget (which falls in line with the second game. almost 2 years of development? thats about right) 500k orders or 500k people trying a demo of your game is an almost overwhelming success.
it's EA's fault for going "we don't want to spend as much money as we did on DA:O, lets hot rod the game to the lowest common denominator and sell at LEAST 10 million copies, now that's a success"
EA is made up of many idiots (hence why they are losing lot's of money) who are clueless and Bioware isn't much better.
Bioware doesn't have the mass market appeal that they somehow think they may have. One of my best friend who had a videogame store helped me to learn about the various gamer pattern and:
Most casual will never be interested in a Bioware game since: A) There's way too much dialogue for them
Bioware was born to make hardcore rpgs since they have a specific set of strong points and none is related to impress or lure casual gamers. They can try as much as they want to sell 10+ million, but it doesn't happen often and it won't with DA2 (won't even hit 1 million download). They can eventually sell 4 or 5 million copies of a given game, but 10+ is completely insane.Square did it with FF VIII I think, but that was at their popularity peak and penetrating all market (US,Europe and a strong Japan market at the time).
