we have four days to get 450k~ downloads
I'm pretty sure most people have already downloaded this game and tried the demo, not counting silver members (which is probably another 200k people, easy, and they can't even participate because Bioware is stupid and didn't release it on President's weekend)

It's not going to get to 1million

Granted, 500k+ for a demo is still an extremely good number.

Imagine if you were an indie developer on an A level budget (which falls in line with the second game. almost 2 years of development? thats about right) 500k orders or 500k people trying a demo of your game is an almost overwhelming success.

it's EA's fault for going "we don't want to spend as much money as we did on DA:O, lets hot rod the game to the lowest common denominator and sell at LEAST 10 million copies, now that's a success"

EA is made up of many idiots (hence why they are losing lot's of money) who are clueless and Bioware isn't much better.  :(

Bioware doesn't have the mass market appeal that they somehow think they may have. One of my best friend who had a videogame store helped me to learn about the various gamer pattern and:

Most casual will never be interested in a Bioware game since:  A) There's way too much dialogue for them  B) The technology behind the games is not impressive to them  C) Gameplay isn't solid or impressive enough either

Bioware was born to make hardcore rpgs since they have a specific set of strong points and none is related to impress or lure casual gamers. They can try as much as they want to sell 10+ million, but it doesn't happen often and it won't with DA2 (won't even hit 1 million download). They can eventually sell 4 or 5 million copies of a given game, but 10+ is completely insane.Square did it with FF VIII I think, but that was at their popularity peak and penetrating all market (US,Europe and a strong Japan market at the time).

If you haven't seen this yet, watch it. This episode explains, in a calm and reasonable manner, just how much damage EA's marketing is doing to themselves and the gaming industry as a whole. It's such a shame, especially considering how EA was so earnest, creative, and optimistic when they started out. What happened?

What happened to the countdown timer at the site of DA2? It was already 800k+ 12 hours ago. Why did it go back to 500k? -_-;

The saddest thing isn't EA being their usual dumb self, but convincing Bioware that they could somehow sell 10 million+ copies of their game.    It's gonna backfire against Bioware sooner rather than later,as they absolutely need their hardcore audience to survive since casual won't stay for the ride.

and we gotta hope that EA doesn't abandon Dragon age and Mass Effect if it doesn't sell the same amount of copies as Call of Duty like Activision did to True Crime and possibly the Guitar Hero series (they canceled True Crime: Hong Kong cause for that exact reason, they actually stated that.)

hopefully, as dumb as EA is, they aren't complete morons like Activision is.

I can't believe it went from 700k to 500k due to spamming. Crap, it's gonna take another three days to make up for the loss.

Correction, it went from 500000 to 800000 BECAUSE of spamming, I would like the these DLC also, but cheating the system to get freebies is childish to say the least.

Nah,EA will go bankrupt before that especially if The old republic bomb.  :P  Even if Bioware were to die,it wouldn't be catastrophic as most of their staff members would find job and it could make Obsidian,Bethesda or Eidos Montreal stronger for example (and the doctors would probably launch a new studio).

I'm sorry but why would Bioware go bankrupt with two of the biggest franchises of the last couple years: Dragon Age and Mass Effect? They make a boatload just with the DLC.

If they shut down every franchise that sell s fewer copies than COD, they'd have none left.

i dont see bankrupcy in their near future they have the hottest games out right now. COD is trash and i wouldnt take a free copy if you stappled a $20 bill to it let alone play that crap.

DA is niche. It did well for a niche title, a niche genre. I don't know. I do worry. This is never going to hit 1mil, and it's inevitably going to be viewed as a sign of failure.

I don't know about you guys, but Bioware games are the only ones I play anymore... Nothing else compares. Even with their weaknesses, they are still better then anything else.

Just because a "demo" doesn't get downloaded 1 million times doesn't mean they will see it as a failure... Dragon Age 2 will make a lot of money... there is no doubt. Bankruptsy is rediculous at this point in Bioware's success.

Man, removing over a third of the total? What a joke. It doesn't help that the PC version has inexcusable load times mid cutscene and mid-conversation.

The perhaps it was a good idea that folk did not try to cheat the system huh?

I still cannot believe people tried to cheat for a couple of DLCs that would probably only cost $5 if sold.

I have morals though, and I wouldn't give them up just to essentially pay for some EA exec's lapdance fund.

Yep, you have the log into EA when you start the demo

That's what they say, but the counter dosen't check this.

So the counter is lying liar who lies.
