No one is hacking anything. No one is spamming anything. This is called a flood and it's a pretty benign one as they go because they are throttling it so that the site doesn't crash. If it were faster, it would be a denial of service attack, so it is clearly aimed at exploiting the ridiculous counter implemented by Bioware. How did they not see this coming?

Well it may not effect anything.



Remember that the real information comes from the 360, PC, and PS3 download counters (which they probably have in a document or program somewhere), and the only way to make those GO UP is not to download it but to log into a proper EA account.



So no way to violate it against rules exists.



The only possible way is that the site's counter has been modified, which is an easy fix.

what do you mean  do you think  there something wrong with the counter i think people are seeing the demo and makeing accounts to try it so that means  the game is gonn sell big time

Wrong numbers aside, I'm surprised how many people believe that it requires 1 million downloads to activate. It requires 1 Million people to log into their EA account while playing the demo.



So getting "Download numbers" from mirrors and consoles is not even an issue.

The rewards are simply more gold and more EXP. Two things that can be added using the console commands with no difficulty at all. Sure it's less immersive, but is it really? Reading a book makes some numbers go up a bit? Whatever.

Of course you can't use console commands on PS3 or Xbox. But you deserve punishment for that anyway for making poor life choices that lead to you buying a console and not a PC.

It was at 850 yesterday, that's what I thought it truly was... now it's back at a solid 800,000 just about.

Its quite the feat to reach 800k as it is. Only hoping thats the 'actual' number.



Has the method they employ to discern hax been expressed? I mean, what if they erased a tally that was legit by mistake. Not that anyone would ever know but it sucks to think someone could be a big fan of the series and their support in this event wasn't tallied.



I may be alone in this but I think this is a really great step forward for the gaming community. I imagine talking with a friend some months down the road who picks up the game for the first time. I imagine telling him/her about this event and how I myself helped contribute to reaching the milestone.



Anyway, cheers to 3/4ths the way there.

Well since a database is used to keep track of accounts you should have counted how many players finished the demo and were awarded the item since that can only happen once per active account.
