Are the items only usable once or are the effects permanent?

I'll just download it for my 360 and PC. I have it pre-ordered for PC so the items will only matter there but in the strange case that it decides not to work on my PC (Don't know why, it runs Dragon Age Origins with ease) I will have a back up!

Lol.... I will spread the news!

Trouble? Probably not. But it's an incentive. It's like saying that including Shale meant they thought they'd have trouble getting people to buy it new.

Throwing incentive after incentive starts to raise a few questions. Next thing you know there's gonna' be a "log in within the first 24 hours on release day and get Queen Anora's corset!"

Oh,so you are penalizing those of us who are trying to keep away from game spoilers by rewarding people for playing the demo and getting spoiled? Yet more BAD marketing schemes.

You realize you could just download it and not actually play it, right?

Would have to play it to get the other item, so yes thats still being penalized for not wanting to be spoiled.

penalized implies losing something. You dont lose an item for not playing it. You just dont gain anything. You made the decision, but Bioware doesnt need to cater to every decision.

Spin it how ever you like, it's still penalizing those of us who don't
want spoiled by telling us that we can't have an item if we won't be
spoiled.

I would've downloaded but now I'm not sure. I don't want even more free high-end gear cluttering up my inventory from the start of the game! It's redicilous! Put it in some store and make it pricy.

I very much doubt you'll have trouble getting 1 million demo players.
I and my brother are certainly happy to be two of them!

Yes. You go onto the EA site and link your gammer tag to your ea account.

You're not being punished if you don't play the demo, you're just not getting the item from doing so. Don't expect them to give out free stuff for doing nothing.

I don't want to play the demo, so I won't. The tradeoff is that I miss out on a sword but get spoiler-free intro.

After I beat the intro, I can go back and complete the demo because it isn't suddenly gone when you buy the game.

It's not THAT much of a spoiler, imo.
The first level and one later level?  Sounds like the ME2 demo to me, and that didn't really spoil much beyond Shepard's err... demise
Once again, it's a single 2H blade.  Chances are most of us won't even use it in-game anyway.  No need to get all excited... :o

Only one million? If you are looking to beat Call of Duty surely you need more than that.

Why are you even comparing the games?

The incentives have all been for different things, though. Signing up for the newsletter, playing Legends, getting the SE, preordering, buying new, etc.

@Sunnie

If I'm correct the promo for the items finishes on March 31, so you could just play the demo after playing the relevant parts in the main game and still get the items. Well, I think it would work.

Oh God, seriously?

Like the demo is going to be full of game changing spoilers anyway.  Get a grip and chill!

I love you. Platonically, of course.

Sunnie, just play through the demo after playing through the game. You'll still get your free item, and the demo content is free and bound to be more interesting than say... Darkspawn Chronicles.

I am downloading it on 360 and PC. Does that help?
