I beat the demo without logging into my account... will it know that I beat it or do I need to beat it again?
According to what i heard, you'll have to log and beat it again.

How does bioware count DLs from gamershell in there run to reach 1 million DLs?

I also really liked the voice acting for the main character, male and female, i wish i had a male hawk voice *drools* On the subject of the main character, although you dont get change your appearance in the demo you get to look at the customization screen and from what i can see you have about as much customization as DO:A minus the voice.
Maybe im just easily impressed the but really the only thing i disliked was *shudder* ...flemeth's chest window *shudder* Isabella and how in the conversation wheel it shows you which are the nice mean and funny choices.
From what i saw last year people were mainly skepticle about this game because they thought it was gonna be a massive overhaul but I really cant see that much different, i biggest difference I would say was the voice and conversation wheel.
^^^ My opinion.

There is a place in the demo where you can log in, and check the "keep me logged in" box. You must be logged in and finish the demo to get the special offer. After you finish it you can go to the Bioware Profile screen and click on Registered Promotions to see if you got the sword.

Above the fierce sounds of battle, a horn suddenly sounded loud and clear. Then from over the hill they came, charging forward together in a shiny black swarm - it was the Europe-based PS3 owners finally answering the call to arms. Perhaps the fight could still be won.
Over the sounds of battle a drum started playing over the hill came Xbox owners finally answering to the call of arms to aid their Allies! The PS3 and PC!

Check your registered promotions in your profile. If you have the sword, it knows. Otherwise, it did not count.

This is from data gathered since 9:08 CST until 14:48 CST, at ten minute intervals. There was a large spike at 10:08 CST of over 4,000.
Notes:
Yes, I know I'm a nerd.
This is fun.
Edit: Messed up and put 'an hour' for the average download rate when it should be 'every ten minutes'.
Also the rate is slowing. So keep getting the word out. Post this on the websites you visit. Even if you don't want to play the demo download it and sign in. Even if you don't like all the DLC do it for your fellow players that do. Convince the people you play CoD or Madden with to download the demo and sign in even if they don't like RPGs.
The goal of 1,000,000 is something like 5 percent of the ~20+ Xbox Live customers. It's a 2.6 percent of the ~38+ PSN accounts (though multiple accounts are much easier to have). This isn't even mentioning the PC gaming community. With just 2.5 percent of Xbox live customers and 1.3 percent of PSN customers there would be enough to easily match the 1,000,000 mark goal. Add in PC gamers and it's a sure thing.
Go to your family and friends who aren't gamers, but have a PC, and tell them to download the game and create an EA account to sign in with. It doesn't cost them anything. Or heck do it for them.

Then again, maybe a lot of people wait until the weekend to play, or the fact that ps3 store does not update until Thursday for Europe. I do not know though if it got released before the update; I'm running off of an assumption at the moment. But, we'll see, it has only been a day.

If you log into the demo with your Bioware account, then yes. That is literally the only thing that matters.
