Someone mentioned if the pre-orders from Steam would be getting the Black Emporium. The answer is no if you did not pre-order it by January 11 or 12th I forget what it was. If you did it after that date then no you would not be an original purchaser. An " Original Purchaser" is someone who pre-ordered the game, especualy if a pre-purchase by date was set. If for some reason you can preorder it now and still get it I will cancel my preorder right friggin now and get it through Steam asap! I don't think Steam had it at back then. I mean if there is a way to transfer my preorder to Steam so I can Download it at midnight then that would be awsome ! I dought it though.

Actually, an original purchaser is someone who buys the game brand new rather than used.  The black emporium is included with new copies of the game.  It's an incentive to get people to buy the game new rather than second hand.

The Preorder bonus from before Jan 12 was a free upgrade to the Signature Edition, which includes the Exiled Prince DLC and various other little goodies.

The PREORDER bonus that people can STILL get for preordering from now up to March 8th is:  Lion of Orlais shield and the Fadeshear sword.

http://www.masseffect.bioware.com/info/

Pre-order before March 8, 2011 and you will receive:
  • The Lion of Orlais Shield (info)
  • The Fadeshear Sword
Original purchasers of Dragon Age 2 will receive:
  • A fighting Mabari War Hound
  • The Mirror of Transformation (info)
  • Access to exclusive Magic and Crafting Stores

*If you pre-ordered the BioWare Signature Edition prior to January 12, 2011 you will also receive this bonus content.

i pre-ordered two days ago and on my receipt it says i still got the free upgrade to signature. i think its just a way to get more people to pre-order earlier instead of waiting last minute, so they can project a sales number.

I dont see the Exiled Prince part of the Signature Edition. Also I was refering to getting the Black emporium on Steam wich cannot be done after January 12th pre-preorders. " Original Purchaser ", wich has been refered to in Dragon Age 2 advertisements was refered to as preorders before january 12th. Now if Bioware has changed thier use of Original Purchaser/changing pre-order deals then so be it.( http://dragonage.bio...da2/info/order/ ) This link shows what I was refering to about Original Purchasers. There is a difference. Pre-orders after january 12th but before march 8th do not a have that tittle.

50k, give or take, for the day is a loss. At this pace we might not even get back to the 800k we were at before.

refer to previus posts. People beat it to death. I also think that 300k is reasonable that they took off. I mean, we don't like it for sure but you should consider this also. What if there were a lot more people then 300k doing that double download thing but Bioware just couldn't tell exactly. They rounded down instead or Rounding up for our benifit. I mean it is easier to blame Bioware then to say,  "people/users"  took advantage of the system (that never happens) and we all have to suffer for it . Bioware did the right thing regardless.

You knkow, I thought the original idea was to only count people logging in with their EA account for the first time. So I don't think "Bioware did the right thing" is appropriate here. More appropriate would be "Bioware is unable to implement a proper counting mechanism". Sad but true.

It is a bit unfair what happened with the counter, but to me it not that really big of a deal considering the very minimal reward for passing the 1 million mark.

We already get a crap ton of DLC for just buying the game (depending on when you buy).

On a side note I still consider announcing DLC pre-launch of a game, and on top of that having it available at launch is a bit of a smack in the face. It's like buying a puzzle and then having to buy the last 10 pieces separately.

DLC IMO is supposed to be an extension of a game post-launch. But oh well everyone has their way of making a buck.

So 500k+ fans cared enough to download the demo - a few people decided to spam, and that was fairly *hacking cough* dealt with. So, over the next 5 days, we have to troll the hell out of our friends with promises of Biowares 'greatness' in order for a chance to get two relatively pointless little bits of DLC...?
...yeah, no thanks.

+1 +1 +1 +1 +1

If Bioware thinks I'm going to spam my friends the next week, they are dead wrong. Lower the nubmer or extend the period.

@faithless:  Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.  If you ordered the SE before Jan 12, you get all of the stuff that's included, according to what the devs have said.  Of course that doesn't include the extra bits like hindsight, staff of parlathan, Sir Isaac's armor, and the other stuff that they have put up separately.  You have to do the stuff they want you to do in order to get those things.

Check the link that was in my previous post and look under pre-orders.  Read the fine print.

Edit:  Better yet, read Priestly's initial post on the subject here.  http://social.biowar...0/index/5701442

The Black Emporium will be included in all copies of Dragon Age II including the Signature Edition, copies pre-ordered between now and launch, and copies purchased new in stores after launch.

The Lion of Orlais shield and the Fadeshear sword will be oonly available to players who pre-order Dragon Age II before launch. They are included in the Signature Edition.

And since this really isn't OT for this thread, that'll be my last post on this subject.

Look at the counter right now: It goes up ~300 every ~15s... now it IS getting spammed. Gratz Bioware. We will probably see multiple "we removed xyz from the counter" during the next few days...

We have noticed some people spamming the demo that has caused incorrect numbers on the download counter. As such, we have to remove roughly 300k from the counter to correct the false numbers.

Some people really need to go out more.

I have been thinking about this matter, dl counter and Call to Arms,
The wording is such that I could have opened as many accounts as I had different mail adresses for.
There is no other way to understand the exact wording. Normaly who would buy and play the same game on two different account, only a very rich person and Bioware would not have protested that.
In this case it is a free demo and that change it all, peoples are inovative, they find loopholes.
Then they also must play and end the demo logged in on each EA account to be counted.

BUT I dont think this is the reason for 200000-300000? false downloads.
I think BioWare had the barn doors fully opened into their count down and demo finished lockup program... and some smart fellow(s) found this way in and fu*ked up.
So who is most to blame, BioWare with open doors or that clever fellow.
BioWare should at least have been aware of human nature, I think they are, but that "bug" in their program went overlooked.

Edit: Only spellings error :-)

This is very strange. I don't know about Bioware's maths skills but if you keep following this site http://dragonage.bio....com/info/demo/ you will see that the demo download calculator works strangely.

Yesterday Calculator showed over 800 000 downloads.

In this morning (Finland) calculator showed over 500 000 and it was getting a little smaller. I was like, oh it goes opposite direction. Now I checked it, calculator showed over 630 000 downloads.

GUYS TELL ME WTF IS THIS? IS BIOWARE GOING TO PULL OUR LEG?

However, I don't think that we lose two books giving money and xp boost...

Meanwhile at a BioWare/EA meeting:
BioWare Dude 1; We got more content from the game we ripped out, let's put it up the store for the fans.

EA Dude 1: FOR ONE BILLION EACH!

BioWare Dude 2: No wait, lets make it "free", if we get ONE MILLION demo downloads, free PR at the social networks!

EA Dude 2: Oh you mean like we did with Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and ONE MILLION views at our Youtube trailer? Well that didn't went to well actually.

BioWare Dude 2
: It will work, we will require an EA Account to make it count.

EA Dude 1 & 2: Woooooot, great idea, go hit the "lets use our fans to create hype" button

BioWare Dude 1+2: HIGH FIVE!

Later. One day after the demo has launched:

EA Dude 1: Crap we are reaching ONE MILLION downloads to fast, some fans figured out how to screw with our counter.

EA Dude 2: That's not good, we are not getting enough hype and tweeps

EA Dude 1: Tweets...

EA Dude 2: Right Tweets.. we are not getting enough tweets about it.

EA Dude 1 on the phone with BioWare Dude 1: Let's **** up the counter to create some drama and tension about it

BioWare Dude 1: Gee thanks!

BioWare Forum Dude: Bla bla bla 300.000, bla bla bla let's play fair.

The end!

....

EA Dude 1: Oh wait, did anyone remember to fix the counter?

Without a doubt we have our share of enterprising folks trying to make that counter go a little faster.  :D

For what its worth though, while the counter is updating frequently it is still only meant as a loose indicator - its a fun thing to have on the site primarily for you, the community, to see how we're trending towards the goal.

But if those trigger happy folks are reading this - please note that the unlocks are not triggered by that counter itself, we will still be manually unlocking the items.  And to keep it fair and as accurate as we can, daily we are manually revising the counter numbers to include updates from other download reports we get, such as console numbers and external partner PC sites.  :police:

So we will likely see more flux in the counter - we apologize, as the spamming of it somewhat diminishes the value of the counter - but still believe it meets the original intent to have something simple to help give you all some feedback.

Having said all that - I think we're trending very well towards the goal when looking at 'real' numbers, and keep in mind we still have a full weekend ahead.  I sense more goodies for folks in the near future.  :o
