See this is stupid since the actual counter page says:

February 22, 2011 marks the launch of the Dragon Age II Demo and a
Call to Arms for all BioWare fans. We are actively recruiting an army of
Champions, and if we get over 1 million demo downloads and logins on
the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 combined before March 1st, we will unlock two
in-game items for the entire community to use in Dragon Age II. Demo
download progress will be tracked on this page, so check back often!

To get your download counted, you will need to log into your EA account while playing the demo.

I could be mistaken but it doesn't say anything about the number of downloads only. It still requires a log in...supposedly.

The counter obviously isn't the 'official' counter. It's just something for we consumers to look at and keep an approximate tab on what's going on for the promotion. I am absolutely sure that BioWare has a master counter(s) that they are using to keep tabs on legitimate downloads and logins.

Would make sense to count logins over actual downloads due to people having to download multiple times due to glitches, or households that only download once, yet have two or more logins due to multiple people using the demo. In my house we had 6 logins on day 1 ourselves because I downloaded it, and then my brother and our other roommate both just used my computer to run the demo rather than spend several hours on day 1 to download again. Then I had a couple friends over that night and THEY all wanted to try the demo (loved being able to tease them for relying on the xbox silver since they always rag on me about my preference for PC)

Furous Joe- Some people care because they are wondering if the counter will be rolled back again and put us back to 750 000 downloads and logins, therefore, we wouldn't get the items yet. Although I do believe even if it is rolled back the weekend will give us enough downloads to get the items.

Zepheera- If all of the people that played the demo on your computer logged into a different account they still probably wouldn't have been counted because they didn't download it. They have to download it and log in but I don't know how Bioware is keeping track of that.

Easy mate, this went faster than they probably expected, the weekend is not even over yet, I expect official word by late Monday at the latest.

Doesn't matter if it's rolled back to 750K, the weekend and the next comming weekdays will still be enough to pull 1 mil. On top of this they got a PR succes, they can say got even more downloads than they expected, and that Dragon Effect 2 is the new hotness!

You're right even though tt ends on Tuesday.  We'll probably still get the 1M even if they do a rollback.  It just seemed really weird that, it went from 500k+ to 1.2M over night.  So I also hope they don't do a roll back.

Looks like they did do a rollback, but only to 780,000, so not as bad as a lot of people had projected. Hopefully we can get the next 220,000 soon!

ehhh, just prepare yourself for yet another dissapointment, after all its the 2nd in a week. thrid for me because I have not heard Merrill's voice whatsoever in any gameplay video or the demo. but third is the charm or so they say..
