Since it doesn't seem realistic at this point that one million downloads will be achieved, here's my best guess at what will happen.

Either BioWare will come out and say, "There was a great effort put out by the community to reach the quota, and even though some unscrupulous individuals tried to ruin it by inflating the download numbers we've decided to give you guys the books anyway, enjoy!

Or, we'll simply get nothing. I think at this point it would be silly to make a handful of gold and maybe a level worth of experience a buyable item. I certainly couldn't justify spending five bucks on that.

Who says we have to justify spending money? lol, nah in all serious I think if they do make it a sellable item it would be good. Sure not everyone will want to buy it, or will buy it but people would buy it no matter what anyone says people like myself are rather dumb when it comes to this stuff

Well, there is still a chance. X-Box silver gets it the demo on the morning of the 1st. The deadline just says expires march 1st, not when.

Thats what I'm assuming the spammers did, it did not work.

Some have tried this, just not by pressing the button themselves but rather let a script do it. Due to this we were well over 1 million two days ago.

However, in the meantime Bioware has deducted the false downloads from the counter. The first time the counter went from ~820k down to ~520k and the second time it went down from 1,2 million to ~780k. Since the second reduction there has been no visible spam anymore. Either Bioware has implemented an effective way to identify spam directly or the spamers have just given up (after proving their point by pushing the counter to 1,2 million).

Yep hope is all we can really do, that, download which most of us have and tell people, which I'm guessing alot of you have. I would have aswell but I only know the one person who would be even slightly interested.

I think the lack of silver members is really hurting the counter, because they can't download it till after the timer is up.

Silver member can now download the demo now. Well at least my friend did and he's a silver member

15k is 15,000. Not 150,000.

I was excited when you said only 15k to go. Then I checked the counter. =(

Gold members get demos on release, while silver member get it a week late. It's a microsoft thing.

I'm becoming skeptical, looking at the Demo page it says,

February 22, 2011 marks the launch of the Dragon Age II Demo and a Call
to Arms for all BioWare fans. We are actively recruiting an army of
Champions, and if we get over 1 million demo downloads and logins on the
PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 combined before March 1st...

Over here we still have one day left, but I'm not as hopeful as I was.

If it ends Monday night at 12:00pm we need just over 1 download a second
if it ends Tuesday night at 12:00 pm we need just over 1/2 download a seconds
over the last 9 hours we averaged just over 1/3 a download a second

it's all going to come down to when the actual deadline is (the start of the first or the end of the first)
and how many x-box silver users can download the demo.
