Yes, it's a lot like Elhanan's topic, but that's not the point. The point is that Modern Warfare 2 is a game that should have never came into existence. Hell, all my cousins do is play Call of Duty for 12 hours straight. God, maybe that's why I hate Call of Duty? Because one time, I was in the DR for three months and all my extended family did was play Call of Duty. When you see that game being played over and over again...Arrgh!

I'll second COD. I really just don't get it, I enjoyed it the first couple of times but it just kept feeling more outdated with each new version. To me it seems like a game from last generation wrapped up in fancy graphics. I resent the way people talk to me as if I should be playing it and should be getting this years version. I've been there and done that and really couldn't be bothered doing it again.

I would enjoy these games more if they were third person. I'm no fan of the FPS genre in general.

I'm going to put down GTA4. The missions are just so boring. So unbelievably boring. And does each game have to take place in Liberty City?

A lot of people seem to like Borderlands, but I couldn't stand that game.
The quests and characters were lame and Claptrap's corny robot dialogue was excruciatingly annoying.
The robots in New Vegas were much cooler, better written and actually funny.

Fallout 3
Grand Theft Auto 4
You know, it seems I have no great love for open world games. Huh, I wonder why?

Modern Warfare 2 - God I hate that game and it also ruined big respect for whole franchise, ALONE. Also it ruined CoD 4 MW plot, even worse then Star Wars prequels to original trilogy, so many continuity errors, potholes and US jingoism made me puke.
Splinter Cell Conviction - generic shooter with generic characters with generic plot with generic villains with bad take cover control with retarded AI, unrealistic stealth elements from franchise that is know to be only about stealth.

I enjoyed it until the last half an hour or so. Then I became very glad I'd only rented it.Capt. Obvious wrote...

I consider myself the ultimate TFU fanboy and TFU2 nearly killed me. It just... no. They couldn't even respect the movie canon.
I'd also say Fallout 3. New Vegas was buggy, but I actually cared about more than killing and looting in New Vegas.

Gritty realistic military shooters.
CoD1 and MoH:AA were awesome, but after everyone wanted to jump the MP bandwagon, the whole genre turned into copies coming off from the conveyor belts.

Call of Duty is the most OVERATED game and the most REPETITIVE game to date. Every game that comes out is the same, just different maps. Big Whoop

I ain't a fan of COD, I like playing multiplayer with my brother though, and I only play that when I go round his flat, apart from that I dont really like the games though.

Gonna start by saying that I thoroughly enjoy COD, and conclude by saying that, while I don't exactly hate it, I don't understand all the acclaim Bioshock received. Sure, the atmosphere was nice. It was a decent game. But it was not a great game. The plot was predictable (not the specifics of the twist, but I totally figured out Atlas), the gameplay was mediocre (by the end of the game, Splicers had more bloody health than the Hulk), the final boss was godawful, and both endings were terrible. Its worth playing once, but I don't understand all the 10/10 reviews.

I found Half Life to be pretty dull; so many people who played HL2 said it was lacking compared to the original (hmm, I'm detecting a pattern here) but I found the original so dull that I couldn't play it at the time. I eventually forced myself to play through it 10 years later but I had to grit my teeth for most of the time. If my heresy isn't bad enough yet, I didn't get on with Daggerfall either, though that was mostly because it gave me a blinding headache.
Edit: bolded the offending games for those who don't wish to wade through my prattling!

All the Halo games. So much promised, so little given to alter the tired format of the FPS game... "Oh, but wait - we can cary less weapons - instant realism!" *headdesk*. And the story was so derivative it could have been written by a kid (in fact a kid could have been more original) and more padded and overstuffed than a really, really fat teddybear... anyone that praises that monstrosity of a storyline should try, I don't know... reading?
The whole world seems to kiss that franchise's ass for no reason I can put my finger on other than being good little zombies and buying into the hype machine, but surely no-one can be that dumb? Then again, people buy Lady GaGa's records, sooooo...
Oh, and the Gears of War series... if men in the future are going to be that damn inbred-looking, I'm sterilizing myself now. I swear, Marcus Fennix (what kind of a name is that - I thought names that facepalm-worthy went out with 80's action movies) was born with a banjo in his hands... or at the very least a banjo-shaped conjoined twin. It's the only game I've seen where the hideous alien nasties are a better looking prospect than the "heroes". Not enough beer in the galaxy...
